Gu Jin showed them a picture and said,
"When I was helping them in the investigation I secretly checked the security caras of 20 years ago. After looking for a long ti I finally found sothing suspicious...no to be precise a suspicious person.
From the mont I started to walk towards the orphanage he followed . At first, I thought he was so kidnapper who wanted to kidnap at that ti, but when I checked the security caras of other shops, I got so hints.
That man always followed , but never appeared in front of . I don’t how he looked because the security caras were so blur, but he was at least 6 feet tall.
What was surprising was he stayed near the orphanage for the next 1 year until I appeared for my first awakening. Maybe my awakening result had disappointed him because after that he left and was never seen."
Liang Bao and Lu Siyao stared at the picture and waited for Gu Jin to continue.
The picture and the description weren’t enough to find out Gu Jin’s background. But Gu Jin said she had gained sothing, which ans that there was more to this matter.
Gu Jin continued,
"I thought since the man was following for so long then...maybe I track his location through which I can track from where I ca from."
"Wait...why didn’t you directly track your location through the CCTV footage of those shops?" Lu Siyao asked in confusion.
Gu Jin smiled faintly at Lu Siyao’s question, almost as if she was expecting it. "I did check the footage," she said calmly.
If she can get the footage of all of the surrounding shops and check the CCTV cara from 20 years ago, she could find, what route she had taken.
However, to her dismay, she found that her childhood self had a strange talent for avoiding the CCTV caras in shops.
Most importantly many of the shops didn’t have or weren’t ready to show her the footage of 20 years ago.
Whatever CCTV footage she got, Gu Jin confird one thing and that was...the man always followed her.
In many of the clips he would look at the blind stops and Gu Jin guessed that he was looking at her.
So she ordered Song Hancheng to get as much CCTV footage as she could and slowly started to track the route.
"So, what you’re saying is, this man who was following you for over half a year is the key to discovering where you ca from?" Liang Bao asked, her voice filled with curiosity.
Gu Jin nodded slowly.
"Yes. I finally found the route."
"So which city it was?" Liang Bao asked.
"Holy Light City." Gu Jin answered.
Liang Bao frowned,
"Wait! So you an to say Holy Light City was the place from where you ca from?"
"No. The Holy Light City was the place from where the man started to follow ." Gu Jin explained.
Lu Siyao scratched her head and asked,
"Wait so that man is not responsible for your kidnapping and he is not your father?"
Gu Jin shook her head,
"No."
"Uh! Why the thing is so complicated?"
Liang Bao took out her laptop and started to look at the map.
After so calculations she said,
"There are only three cities near the Holy Light City. We assu that Gu Jin had walked away from her ho on her own, then the chances of her being from Holy Light city are high.
But as far as I am guessing...maybe...maybe Gu Jin had walked away from her kidnappers and she had avoided the caras to save herself from getting tracked."
This ti even Gu Jin was shocked by Liang Bao’s analysis.
She didn’t know the original Gu Jin and always thought that the original Gu Jin was a coward but if the original Gu Jin could avoid the cara from getting herself tracked by her kidnapper, then she was too smart.
It was only an assumption but...it explained why the original little Gu Jin had avoided the cara.
Lu Siyao’s eyes brightened but they dimd down before she asked,
"Wait! If Gu Jin was kidnapped, then should her parents have tried to find her?"
Liang Bao answered,
"I have two theories for that too. First, your parents might have thought that Gu Jin had died so they never tried to look for her, while she(Gu Jin) tried her best to hide from the assassination, and second..."
She paused and looked at Gu Jin,
"It may sound absurd but I am thinking maybe...maybe you are swapped at your birth. Of course, there is their possibility too. Maybe your parents were killed and you ran away to avoid the assassination attempt."
"Your first theory has a loophole." Lu Siyao said. "Even if Gu Jin’s parents thought she was dead, doesn’t Gu Jin know about her parents? Why didn’t she look for them?"
"I am guessing that she has lost her mories." Liang Bao answered.
Gu Jin shook her head,
"Even if I lost my mory, I should have sothing related to my parents, right? Even the clothes would have suffice."
Liang Bao already had an answer in her mind,
"Or maybe soone stole it?"
"What about the second theory? I feel it is totally absurd. So i will eliminate it." Lu Siyao said.
Liang Bao didn’t defend it.
The reason was pretty simple. Even though Gu Jin was swapped, the baby with whom she was swapped should differ from Gu Jin’s biological family...so the second theory was indeed absurd.
However...
For so her instincts were telling her...that the second theory was very much possible.
Gu Aihan’s strange behavior, her hostility towards Gu Jin, Gu Jin’s high magic potential, and Gu Aihan’s assassination attempt.
"As for the third theory...I do think it is possible." Lu Siyao nodded.
Gu Jin shook her head,
"No...in fact, if my parents were killed and I was declared as killed, then whoever killed them would have made sure I was really dead. They wouldn’t have let escape so easily," Gu Jin reasoned.
Liang Bao sighed.
"That’s true. It would have been a much more secure operation if it was orchestrated by powerful people."
Lu Siyao scratched her head and shouted,
"Uh! Why is everything so ssy? Wait! Why are we even bothered about these theories? Can’t we directly start investigating ?"
Liang Bao shook her head,
"If we know which theory is right, we can be one step closer to knowing about her background. If the first theory is correct then Gu Jin’s parents are still looking for her.
If so then we only need to look through the police stations of each state, which will roughly take 20 years or so.
If the second theory is correct, then Gu Jin’s parents won’t even be looking for her. We have to find them on our own and also be careful of the force who had swapped Gu Jin at her birth. It will take a long ti to find them or maybe we won’t be able to find them...
If the third theory is correct then Gu Jin’s parents were killed, and we’re dealing with a group that might still be active and powerful.
That ans we’re not just looking for her parents, but also evading the very people who might still be hunting her down.
If they discover Gu Jin is alive, her life will be in danger. It would require a delicate investigation, perhaps even going undercover, to avoid alerting them."
Lu Siyao sighed, rubbing her temples in frustration.
"So, we’re stuck between three possibilities, none of which are particularly easy or fast. And we still don’t even know if any of them are the actual truth."
Gu Jin leaned back, her face calm,
"Hey, there are two more possibilities. Maybe they abandoned and wanted to kill hence I ran away and avoided the cara.
Or maybe I belong to a wealthy family but I am the illegitimate so they wanted to kill ."
Liang Bao and Lu Siyao’s face turned dark.
"Jin’er can you talk positively about yourself!"
"Yeah!"
Gu Jin suddenly stopped and said.
"Why don’t we start investigating from the Gu family of the capital?"
"Huh? Why?" Lu Siyao was dumbfounded, while surprisingly Liang Bao nodded.
"There are many possibilities but the one person who has reacted so strongly to my existence is Gu Aihan.
She knows sothing or maybe she is hiding sothing. "
Lu Siyao sat down and said,
"Fine, since we don’t know anything, we should start with the Gu Family and Gu Aihan..."
Just as when finished her words, her phone rang and she received a ssage from the military.
When she saw the ssage Lu Siyao’s face turned pale.
Gu Jin was worried and asked,
"What happened?"
"I am going to be arrested by the military officer within 20 minutes." Lu Siyao said with a trembling hand.
"What? Why..." Gu Jin didn’t have ti to finish her words because the next second Liang Bao’s phone rang too.
