Engagent ceremony?
Gu Jin subconsciously paused.
The maids didn’t see Gu Jin and continued the conversation,
"So is he going to be engaged finally? When is his engagent going to take place?"
"As far as I know it will in 2 days."
"Great! With a lady boss around, the master will definitely tone down his anger!"
"I can’t believe that he is finally going to be engaged. You know...even though the master never said that he loved his fiance, he never once invited any girl to his mansion except for Miss Gu."
"Miss Gu is different. She is, after all, Young Miss’s doctor, so it explainable that Miss Gu stays in the mansion."
"From Miss Gu, I rember...I sotis feel as if Miss Gu likes Young Master."
"What nonsense!"
"I swear! I have seen it many tis. Whenever Miss Gu looks at the Young Master, her cold eyes are filled with gentleness. "
"Now that you ntion it, I feel...that you are saying the right thing!"
Gu Jin pursed her lips.
So even the maids can see it?
From when she had turned so incapable? When did she beco incapable of hiding her emotions?
"Hey, I pity her. I have noticed that even though Miss Gu may seem like a cold person, she has a warm heart.
Alas, she fell in love with soone who can never beco her."
"I agree. I hope that she will move on and forget about Young Master."
"By the way is Young Master’s engagent ceremony going to be broadcasted?"
"Why would they?"
"I don’t know but I heard the head butler talk about how the Long Family wanted to broadcast it to the entire world considering how influential the Young master’s fiance’s family is."
"If it is true then I truly want to have a look at Young Master Long’s fiance. I have heard that she is not only an elegant, beautiful, and talented Mage but also a Black Rank Alchemist.
Not to ntion she loves the young master a lot. I have seen so of her clips and to be honest, I was chard.
Oh, right! Do you know that there are so cute edits of Young Master and his fiance? I absolutely loved it...."
Just then the head butler arrived and when he saw Gu Jin standing at the entrance of the living room but not moving, he was surprised.
However, when he heard the conversation between the maids, his face turned black.
He instantly bypassed Gu Jin and shouted at them,
"Why are you gossiping during the work hour? Does young master pay you to gossip?"
The maids instantly apologized and promised to not gossip anymore.
The head butler coughed and Gu Jin ca out of her daze.
Sensing Gu Jin’s gloominess, the head butler said softly,
"Why don’t you go in the room, I will the maid to make sothing for you. What do you wanna eat?"
Gu Jin subconsciously blurted out,
"Sothing spicy."
The head butler nodded and after hesitating he finally said,
"I know sotis it is difficult to forget certain people, but if we keep on holding them...they beco thorns.
So even if it is difficult...forget it. If you need soone’s support...I am there."
Gu Jin stared at the head butler and realized that for the first ti when he was looking at her, his gaze didn’t have the usual calculation and suspicion.
"Okay." That was all Gu Jin could say.
Her heart was a bit heavy and all she wanted to do now was to sit in the rain.
Gu Jin returned to her room and sat on the bed.
Her face didn’t have any expression and her body was a bit stiff.
If one didn’t look closely they wouldn’t even realize that Gu Jin was a human.
After a long while, Gu Jin chuckled with a hint of self-deprecation,
"What were you even expecting?"
A knock sounded on the door and Gu Jin opened the door, she took the tray and closed the door.
She started to eat the food. Her movents were chanical, it was as if soone was controlling her to eat the food.
After finishing her food, Gu Jin entered her space. She started to cultivate but her focus was scattered. The conversation she overheard in the living room played on repeat in her mind.
Gu Jin took a deep breath, trying to center herself, but the turmoil inside made it difficult to achieve any sense of calm.
Finally, she took out a focus pill and ate it.
With the focus pill, she gradually forgot about her feelings, and her focus improved.
(Author: Wish I had these when I was taking exams!)
After what seed like a day, Gu Jin stopped cultivating and exited the space.
Today she wanted to talk with soone.
Song Hancheng? Nope, he doesn’t know her situation.
The Elders of Alchemy association? Well...they might end up beating Long Yifan.
She suddenly rembered the ti when the elders of Alchemy Tower had co to visit her.
They almost started a war because they thought that Long Yifan had kidnapped her.
Gu Jin couldn’t help but chuckle when she rembered the scene.
A smile appeared on her face when she recalled how Long Yifan had lowered his stance just because she was angry.
Suddenly she rembered the ti when Long Yifan gave her the compass for his sister’s safety.
Then just the day before the previous day, how close he was to her...
Gu Jin’s smile widened.
Yet the smile didn’t last long when she rembered the conversation.
Why was he so good to her?
He saved her, gave her shelter, and even cared for her...
He was truly her ideal type.
Even if she likes him...she can’t possibly expect him to like back too right?
Gu Jin suppressed the heaviness in her heart and decided to take a walk in the garden.
Anyways he was not in the mansion.
Gu Jin made her way downstairs.
Gu Jin strolled around in the garden for a while and finally sat on the green grass to look at the moon.
Maybe the luck was truly playing tricks on her because the next mont she started to see Long Yifan’s face in the moon.
Was she hallucinating?
Gu Jin blinked and the face disappeared.
Taking a deep breath, she muttered,
"Why are you acting so weak?"
Just then she heard the faint sound of footsteps.
However, Gu Jin’s didn’t turn around. As long as she was in Long Mansion, no one could harm her.
The reason why Gu Jin was so sure was because of all the defensive arrays and a strange kind of magic that could prevent any unfamiliar person from entering, which was placed around the mansion.
When she first ti entered the Long Mansion, Long Yifan dealt with the defense chanism, saving Gu Jin the trouble.
As expected, the next second Gu Jin heard the butler’s gentle voice,
"What are you doing here at night?"
Gu Jin instead of answering questioned him,
"Why have you suddenly turned so gentle? Do you perhaps pity ? I don’t need your pity."
Her tone was so nonchalant, that the head butler almost believed Gu Jin wasn’t in pain.
However, just with the fact that she was sitting in the garden, he could conclude that she wasn’t okay.
Gu Jin was the type of girl who would always keep herself busy, work hard, and never take a break.
There was no such thing as rest in her dictionary, but today she suddenly wanted to stare at the moon, wasn’t it enough to prove how sad she was?
The head butler sighed,
"I don’t pity you."
Gu Jin snorted, she didn’t believe the butler at all.
If he wasn’t pitying her so why was he caring for her?
The head butler as if not hearing the ridicule continued,
"Pity, regret, guilt, sorry, and thank you, are the most useless words. I personally feel it.
The word pity can’t improve your situation, the word regret can’t undo what you want to change and the word guilt could only drown in more misery.
The word sorry could never show sincerity and the word thank you can’t repay the favor."
Gu Jin raised an eyebrow and looked at the head butler.
Surprisingly the head butler’s thought quite matched with hers.
The head butler motioned her to get up,
"Now you should go back to your room, it is very late."
Gu Jin shifted her gaze back at the moon,
"I want to stare at the moon for so more ti."
"The moon or the person whom you are imagining in that moon?" The head butler asked sharply.
Gu Jin softly said,
"Just for one day, let live in my delusion."
The head butler felt a lump when he heard Gu Jin’s soft voice.
Was she so sad?
Finally after hesitating, he took off his batch and sat beside Gu Jin.
