Chapter 13: Let’s Join the Life Guild!
The day after they had received the great sum of money for their work, Shion let out a worried sigh as he looked at Haku eat breakfast at the corner of his eye.

Haku smiled as he swallowed the at.
‘The at here is so good~! Are we going to the guild again today?’
“I was wondering if I should go buy weapons or search for the magic absorption stones.”

Shion decided to go to the equipnt shop since Haku encouraged him to.
He went inside the shop, leaving Haku to wait outside, and was slightly surprised to see so many custors even though it was morning.
“Getting equipnt before going hunting, huh.”
Shion looked at a red curved sword hanging on the wall and shook his head. The blade’s curve was too deep for him to use. Many blacksmiths forged unique swords, but most of them weren’t ant for battle.
Even if it were an excellent blacksmith, there were hits and misses, so the ability to see through them will be tested.
He asked the store owner, who looked to be in his late thirties, if he had any magic swords.
“What’s you budget?”
“A few hundred thousand.”
“That’s pretty hard. It’ll be diocre ones.”
“I can’t buy it right now, but can you show the best one in the store?”
The owner nodded and brought out a sword from the back with confidence. The blade was on the thin side, but he could see that the material was good, and it wouldn’t snap easily, and the grip was decorated with gold and small gems.
Flashy swords that seed like sothing royalty would like were usually just for show, but Shion could tell that this one wasn’t.
“A magic item. Wind type.”
“You can tell just from a look…? You’re not an ordinary guy. I used to be a rcenary, so I can tell if one is weak or strong just by the way they walk and breathe.”
“Talking from experience, lots of wind types had been in forms similar to this, so.”
“That’s right, and this one could shoot out shock waves made of wind. It’ll take the user’s mana though, of course.”
It was an excellent weapon because one could use it even if he didn’t have aptitude for the wind attribute. After asking for details from the owner, Shion thanked him.
“Thank you so much.”
“Co back anyti.”
As Shion walked down the stairs of the shop, we wondered if asking for so much was arrogant.
To be honest, his heart wasn’t attracted to that weapon. Part of it was because his previous weapon was too strong, but Shion could use up to interdiate wind magic. He felt like there wasn’t a need to use a sword for that.
After he told Haku he couldn’t find anything good, an unexpected response ca back.
‘Then let’s go to the life guild. Do you know of it?’
“Yeah, I’ve heard of it…”

The life guild was similar to the adventurers’ guild but most of the quests were for within the city.
There were quests from babysitting children to preparing als, which were difficult to ask adventurers to do. Housewives and people who weren’t confident strong fighters but have special skills could make money.
“Wouldn’t adventurers make more?”
‘The life guild is connected to the Magic Item Association. The system is a bit special as well. Let’s go take a look.’

Two types of quests, one being from individuals, the other from the guild. The forr was mostly helping out, while the latter was gathering items/ingredients or solving problems
Rewards were given in points, not money
Points could be exchanged for ingredients and items. It could be exchanged for money, but the rates weren’t good
There weren’t ranks, but those who were capable were treated better
Registering was easy, but you would get fired if you continued to fail quests
After hearing the explanation, Shio’s heart fluttered. Apparently, the things that you could exchange with points included powerful magic items. As expected from an organization with connections to the Magic Item Association.
When he told the man he wanted to register, he was very happy to hear that.
“There’s been many problems lately so experienced people are very thankful to have. My na is Sablan. I’m forty-two with a wife and children, and I’ve been working here for twenty-five years.”
“A veteran, I see. My na is Shion, and this is my partner Haku. Actually, I’m looking for a sword right now. Can I take a look at the exchange list?”
“Of course.”
Knowing that motivation was important, Sablan showed Shion the list of the items that were currently tradable.
“The list changes monthly. And the items will disappear from the list if soone else trades it.”

Its cost was very high, but Shion was determined to get his hands on it no matter what.
