Chapter 904: Chapter 903: Unwilling to Sell the Store for One Billion

Yuren stayed still, waiting to see what Lu Mian thought.

Lu Mian let out a cold chuckle. Putting down her chopsticks, she smiled icily.

“What’s there to talk about? No authorization for the composition, no profit shares for the restaurant, no introductions to contacts, and no loans.”

Lu Xinnuan: …

Fu Man: …

Lu Zhizhai: …

Each “no” from Lu Mian was like a stab straight into the hearts of the Lu family’s little trio.

Especially for Fu Man and Lu Zhizhai as a couple. Seeing Lu Mian’s cold and indifferent gaze, as though she were a stranger, filled them with regret.

How did things turn out this way?

Wasn’t she their own daughter? In the end, things turned out as if they were sworn enemies.

She was so wealthy, capable, and respected by others, yet not a single bit of it had anything to do with the Lu family.

This was not how it was supposed to be.

“Mianmian, what exactly did you do? You’re so young—how could you possibly open such a restaurant?” Fu Man’s voice was full of doubt.

Even though she had known before that Lu Mian had money, learning that Lu Mian was the owner of MM Ji truly brought ho to Fu Man just how unfathomable Lu Mian had beco.

Where could she possibly have gotten the capital to do all this?!

If it wasn’t thanks to Master Xiao or her boyfriend, then what else could it have been?

Lu Xinnuan couldn’t believe it either and refused to accept the reality.

After all, Pu Jing had explained to her before that opening a restaurant in this kind of location ant not only having money but also power, influence, and connections.

How could Lu Mian possibly have achieved this on her own?

Fu Man and Lu Xinnuan both wanted to dig to the bottom of it. Fortunately, Lu Mian seed to be in a relatively good mood today and didn’t mind answering their questions.

“This…” Lu Mian picked up a piece of cucumber. The crisp cucumber crunched between her teeth as she chewed it delicately. Then she smiled. “You could say I owe it all to an experience I had two years ago.”

“The kidnapping case?” Fu Man blurted out.

Fu Yu tilted his head to look at Fu Man, confused. But it didn’t seem appropriate to ask, so he lowered his head and sent a text to Xiao Qimo.

Xue Lu and the others were just as confused. Li Aiqi, as a mber of the Li family, muttered softly, “Was it the AorB kidnapping case?”

Lu Mian’s lips curved into a grin. “That’s right. A girl abandoned by her parents finally found her luck after experiencing darkness. She found life-and-death friends, made so decent acquaintances, picked up a few simple skills, started a couple of small ventures, and saved up a bit of money.”

She said it all so lightly.

Yuren twitched his mouth hard.

Simple skills? Small ventures? A bit of money?

Miss Lu Mian, do you have so kind of misunderstanding about quantities and adjectives?

Yuren said nothing, but Li Aiqi weakly chid in, “Master Mi Lu, my family said a consortium offered you over ten figures to buy MM Ji, and you still refused…”

!!!

Ten. Figures.

Fu Man calculated in her head. Ten billion!

It was an unfathomable number for her, the kind of money she’d never even dared to dream of in this lifeti!

And yet Lu Mian had declined the offer!

What did that an? It ant she didn’t even care about ten billion!

Fu Man felt dizzy. The recent days had been too overwhelming; she couldn’t process it all.

Suddenly, Lu Xinnuan slowly stood up. She fixed her gaze on Lu Mian, her eyes filled with venomous cold light, like a snake lurking in the dark night.

“So, during those two years you were kidnapped, you weren’t really suffering, were you? Instead, you had a windfall and gained everything you have today, didn’t you?!”

Lu Xinnuan’s eyes were bloodshot, as if she was suppressing so deep emotion.

Lu Mian couldn’t be bothered. “If you think it’s a windfall, then so be it.”

“Why?!” Lu Xinnuan suddenly slamd her fist on the table. If the table hadn’t been so heavy, she might have flipped it over without hesitation.

Her last shred of rationality snapped. She no longer cared about the occasion.

“You were kidnapped, so why do you get to be so fortunate?! Why do you get to live so well, while our family of three struggles in poverty and anguish?! Why?!”

Lu Mian draped her arm casually over the back of her chair, her lips curling into a faint, airy smile. “So, you feel it’s unfair?”

“Of course it’s unfair!”

Fu Man looked at her younger daughter, who had completely lost control, and felt as though a taut string inside her snapped.

Fu Yu, still holding his phone, received Xiao Qimo’s detailed explanation. His eyes reddened with shock.

Yuren frowned deeply and spoke up. “You might want to get both your hearing and your brain checked. Our boss clearly said she went through a period of darkness. Are you selectively deaf?”

“What kind of suffering is that?! She lost nothing, yet she gained so much! Why wasn’t I the one to receive all this?! What does she have that I don’t…”

“Nuannuan?!” Fu Man pulled her daughter urgently, incredulity written all over her face.

Lu Xinnuan flung Fu Man’s hand aside violently, staring at her parents as though they were enemies.

“Leave alone! I’d rather it had been who was kidnapped back then. I’d rather you had left to die!”

“You!”

Fu Man stared at Lu Xinnuan in shock and disbelief.

The child she had painstakingly raised, the one she had cherished so deeply, the daughter she had always favored—why was she saying such things?

They had saved her, and now saving her was their fault?

Her heart felt utterly shattered.

Li Aiqi and the others huddled together, trembling with fear. Even Xue Lu seed unnerved, muttering that Lu Xinnuan might have so ntal issues.

Out of control and enraged, Lu Xinnuan swept the dishes off the table in one violent motion, sending food crashing onto the floor.

The room was filled with the sound of breaking porcelain and shattering chaos, the ground a complete ss.

“Why? Why did you have to save ? If you hadn’t chosen to save , then I’d be the one with this success and glory today! It’s all your fault! I hate you all!”

“Slap!”

A resounding slap landed squarely on Lu Xinnuan’s face.

The one who delivered it was Lu Zhizhai.

Lu Xinnuan was stunned into silence. The room fell quiet once more.

Lu Mian smirked, her expression cold and detached. She broke the silence with her icy words. “The daughter you’ve favored since childhood turns out like this.”

Her sarcasm struck both Lu Zhizhai and Fu Man like a slap to their faces.

The daughter they had spoiled and doted on was a maniac, while the one they had neglected and scorned had beco so accomplished.

No, not just accomplished—extraordinarily brilliant.

Anyone who learned the truth would find it hard to accept.

“Dad!” Lu Xinnuan covered her flushed cheek, tears streaming down her face. She looked at her father in disbelief.

Lu Zhizhai suppressed his fury. “We saved you, and you still hold a grudge? Is this how a child repays their parents?!”

“Dad…” Lu Xinnuan plead, turning to Fu Man for help.

Fu Man averted her gaze, covering her chest as she sobbed silently.

Yuren let out a cold laugh.

“Even if it were you who was kidnapped back then, you wouldn’t have had the ability to survive. Do you really think the AorB kidnapping case was child’s play? You only see others’ achievents but ignore their sweat and blood—how utterly stupid.”

Yuren rarely spoke so bluntly, but Lu Xinnuan’s attitude had clearly infuriated him.

Lu Xinnuan, hands pressed against her face, seethed with rage and hatred toward Lu Mian.

Fu Man raised her head suddenly, her expression soft and tender as she looked at Lu Mian.

“Mianmian, your father and I actually…”

Fu Man found herself wondering if they had made the wrong choice back then.

If they’d chosen Lu Mian, would things have turned out differently?

If they started treating Mianmian well from now on, could they maybe salvage the relationship?

She truly knew she had been wrong, finally understanding Lu Xinnuan’s true nature. She vowed to never favor her again. For the sake of their shared blood, could Mianmian let go of the past and co back to them?

She knew she was wrong, so wrong!

This soft, gentle call sent a wave of physical revulsion through Lu Mian. It was outright disgusting.

Fu Yu suddenly set his phone down, cutting off Fu Man’s emotional outburst.

“Second Sister, there’s sothing I’ve wanted to say for a long ti.”
