Chapter 897: Chapter 896: I Rely on My Strength, and I Also Look Good

Xiao Qimo had been harboring this thought for a long ti.

Exactly how long, even he couldn’t quite rember.

His fingers seized the opportunity while Lu Mian and her zipper weren’t paying attention, pulling it down with a sharp sound.

The botherso lightweight sports jacket was discarded on the floor silently.

Lu Mian tilted her head slightly.

She was still pondering the multiple layers of aning in Director Qimo’s use of the word “strip.”

Upstairs, Mo Si and Mo Fan heard the sound of the house’s car pulling in, and hurried downstairs eagerly to welco their master.

Unfortunately, just as they reached the staircase, they witnessed Boss Mo’s hands all over Miss Lu.

At lightning speed, the two halted their steps.

Mo Si imdiately covered Mo Fan’s eyes with one hand, used the other to cover hers, but left a little crack for sneaky peeking.

Ahhh, what sort of wild, animalistic sight was this…

Could it be that Boss Mo and Miss Lu were finally sealing the deal?

Ahhhhh, first ti seeing sothing like this—it was so embarrassing and nerve-wracking!

Mo Fan rolled his eyes rcilessly, internally fuming.

Why the hell are you covering my eyes? Cover your own if you want!

Can’t I enjoy so sweet romantic drama for once?!

From his vantage point, Xiao Qimo was aware of the little antics on the staircase. There weren’t many staff left at ho, as most would have finished their shifts by this hour.

The only ones who ca down would be Mo Si and Mo Fan.

He wasn’t in a rush for his next move, nor did he even glance toward the staircase. He simply issued a cold order, “Get the hell out of here! If anyone dares to watch another second, I’ll make sure they don’t see tomorrow’s sunlight!”

“Retreat! Retreat!”

The two subordinates blushed furiously, feeling both nervous and terrified of being silenced. They fled upstairs as if their lives depended on it.

Mo Si was so overwheld with joy that she teared up, “Boss Mo finally learned how to steal a script?”

She had a look like a proud parent thinking, “My boy has finally made sothing of himself.”

If the old master of the Xiao family, the Family Head, and madam at the Xiao estate found out, they’d probably throw a party overnight.

Mo Fan, however, relied on his martial arts skills to sneak silently toward the staircase, not daring to poke his head out but remaining at the edge, quietly listening for the sounds downstairs.

“Fan Bro, you’ve gone bad,” Mo Si teased him with disdain, but followed suit and crouched at the stairwell too.

Mo Fan shook his head. “You don’t understand. I don’t think things are that simple. I’m protecting the master here.”

Mo Si shrugged. Sure, Miss Lu was indeed formidable, but if they truly fought, would Boss Mo really not even have the ability to protect himself?

Downstairs.

The refined man’s gaze swept over Lu Mian’s black short-sleeve T-shirt under her jacket. Taking advantage of her montary distraction again, he hooked his finger on the hem of the shirt and slid it upward along her arm, helping her “cool off.”

Lu Mian still hadn’t reacted.

Xiao Qimo thought to himself, she must be scared stiff.

As he thought, stealing the script really required one’s own abilities.

Yes, he was a man of abilities—and good looks too.

Only, he had originally assud there would be nothing under the T-shirt, but then he discovered this mischievous girl had yet another layer: a silk black camisole! The skin beneath the fabric glead with an otherworldly pale glow, smooth and cool to the touch.

Damn, wearing so much in the sumr—this little troublemaker wasn’t hot?

Feeling the cold air from the living room air conditioner, Lu Mian snapped back to her senses. She saw the deep look in the man’s eyes, and finally grasped what was going on.

“Director Qimo, are you trying to sleep with ?”

She pursed her lips and boldly spoke, “Which kind of verb are we talking about?”

Upstairs, Mo Si and Mo Fan almost couldn’t hold it in—just… just way too unexpected.

Miss Lu’s directness was absolutely out of this world!

Xiao Qimo: …

He lowered his head, staring intensely at the girl in front of him. Her rosy pink lips parted and pressed together, accompanied by her pronounced black-and-white eyes. Xiao Qimo felt he truly resembled a beast—deceiving an innocent young girl.

Well, if he was to be a beast, so be it.

His fingertips landed on the girl’s cheek, soft pads of his fingers inching slowly, gently, and patiently.

The quiet night gave his refined features a faint trace of helplessness.

“I’m burning with fury right now…”

She carried the identity of Mi Lu, drawing the attention of countless fans and celebrities in the entertainnt industry.

The only fortunate thing was that she wore a mask, preventing her full appearance from being known.

Yet even so, there was still a man brazen enough to flirt with his girlfriend right before his eyes.

He was really pissed.

He needed to let it out.

Lu Mian caught the tone in Xiao Qimo’s expression and understood.

Ah, Director Qimo was burning up and needed an outlet.

“I’ve got a better idea,” Lu Mian curled her finger toward Xiao Qimo.

How could the man resist this kind of gesture? Every little movent from this mischievous girl utterly crushed him. Unable to contain himself, he leaned in slightly, his body moving closer to her.

He failed to notice the gleam that briefly flashed in Lu Mian’s eyes.

As his body ca nearer, Lu Mian readied her palm, packed with force, swinging it furiously toward Xiao Qimo.

Unprepared for her strike, Xiao Qimo stumbled a step back, stunned and confused.

Lu Mian explained seriously, “Director Qimo, I’m helping you release your anger. Whenever I’m upset, I find practicing punches on people or wooden stakes really helps.”

Then, Lu Mian’s second blow surged forward.

Xiao Qimo had no doubts that this girl’s punch could probably kill him.

His thoughts rapidly cleared. Gone were the earlier blush-worthy imaginings; he forced himself to focus on fending off this mischievous girl.

Release anger…

This was what she ant by release anger…

Life was really hard for him.

Upstairs, Mo Si and Mo Fan stared at each other, baffled by the situation.

Why were they fighting now?

They wanted to watch but dared not, wanted to intervene but lacked the strength.

The brothers exchanged glances, understanding each other’s thoughts.

Mo Si: It was sweet romance just now—how did it turn into violent aesthetics?

Mo Fan: Told you, things weren’t that simple.

Mo Si: Fan Bro, why do you look so excited?

Mo Fan scratched his nose. “I’m just curious to see who would win if Miss Lu and Boss Mo actually fought…”

Mo Si, gathering his courage, peeked downstairs and found himself a bit overwheld.

“Seems like Boss Mo’s losing ground…”

——

Tonight was destined to be anything but quiet.

After the music festival’s opening ceremony, Mi Lu quickly beca a trending topic online.

Fans seized the opportunity to share Mi Lu’s social dia account, letting more people discover her music.

The account contained nothing else, only the songs posted by Lu Mian. Fans eagerly liked the posts, while hordes of singers and celebrities followed, liked, and shared them too.

But, none received a response or a follow-back from Mi Lu.

Mi Lu’s following count remained at zero.

After returning backstage, La Ge promptly fired Sun Wei. Sun Wei’s unauthorized decisions and greedy motives conflicted entirely with La Ge’s principles. Even without the Mi Lu issue, similar conflicts would eventually arise during collaborations.

La Ge preferred simplicity, wanting nothing more than to stick with Mi Lu and Master Kunyang to make music.
