Chapter 254: Chapter 253: A Team of Commanders Appears!
The dimly lit eting room was pitch-black, devoid of any light source.
The curtains were tightly drawn, and the lights remained off, leaving the room illuminated only by the ager glow of a few laptops—the only light in the room.
Around the elongated conference table, seven people were seated, each a division commander of IEG.
They were the core mbers for this eting.
Each was in disguise, their heights and builds obscured, their genders and ages indiscernible. The one thing they all had in common was that they were all wearing masks. Like Xiao Qimo, the designs on their masks were all main images from the Tarot Cards.
This was indeed their internal symbol of identity, unique and undeniable, as if seeing the mask was seeing the person themselves.
Without the leader’s presence, the seven exchanged greetings and then lapsed into silence.
Perhaps out of boredom or a wish to foster camaraderie within the organization, the “Lovers” masked commander from the third division was the first to break the silence.
“Not everyone’s here yet, does anyone fancy a ga?”
“What kind of ga?” soone chid in.
“Sothing interesting happened in Hong City today…” The third division commander spoke intriguingly, “A taxi outran over a dozen motorcycle rcenaries. Soone uploaded a few seconds of footage online, it’s incredible.”
With a topic introduced, everyone beca interested and began checking their laptops.
The video was very short, only because the taxi was moving too fast to capture more.
Sure enough, they were also astonished.
The ninth division commander chuckled, “It’s been verified, the video is real, no speeding up, no effects.”
“Oh? Going head-to-head with rcenaries? This taxi is quite interesting…”
“Could the driver be one of us?”
“Whether they are or not, a quick check should reveal the answer.”
The third division commander clapped his hands, “So… how about a challenge to see who can identify this person first?”
Since it was rather boring anyway, the other six sat up straight, positioning their computers, ready to accept the challenge. Each had their own strengths; this sort of task was a piece of cake for them.
The third division glanced at the wall clock, “Then I’ll serve as the temporary referee. Start!”
As his words fell, the sounds of rapid keyboard typing filled the room, along with the flickering lights from the swiftly changing computer screens.
So were hacking into surveillance, others were coordinating with the traffic departnt, and others used different ans.
However, it quickly beca clear—
“Sothing’s wrong with the surveillance, it’s been edited!”
“I can’t find anything on my end either. It seems the other party is quite skilled…”
The third division commander was also surprised, his voice disguised with confusion, “Really, none of you can find out?”
While everyone was discussing this, the door to the eting room was pushed open.
A gust of cool air entered, and the seven individuals looked away from their screens, their gazes turning in unison towards the door. In the feeble light, they saw the man with the “God of Death” Tarot mask stride in with long steps, a chillness about him.
The atmosphere in the eting room grew noticeably tenser.
All seven respectfully greeted, “First Division!”
Within IEG, there were nine divisions, each operating independently. From one to nine, there were slight variations in strength.
This God of Death commander had completed many tasks beyond their reach, his abilities unfathomable. They all said that he could very likely be the future leader of IEG, so they naturally showed him the utmost respect.
Xiao Qimo grunted an acknowledgnt, effectively greeting them. He took his seat without another word.
So couldn’t help but mutter quietly.
“The commander of the First Division is here, but not even a shadow of the Second Division…”
“The Second Division is a relationship hire, can they compare to us? Ha!”
“Don’t gossip, careful the leader hears you,” warned the third division, and then turned to Xiao Qimo with a cordial invitation, “First Division, we are playing a ga, would you care to join?”
