— At the Cross Family Mansion —

The room reeked of desperation and silent fury.

Six figures stood under the dim light of an ornate chandelier, their faces shadowed by the fixture and their sches. At the centre of their attention lay a man, dishevelled and delirious, giggling as though he’d been plucked from reality and hurled into madness. His once-pristine suit was now soiled, his face flushed with confusion.

"Who did this to my Tim?!" Martha’s voice pierced through the silence, trembling with rage and disbelief. Her sharp features twisted in disdain as her gaze shifted between her son and the others in the room.

Despite her question, she did not move toward him. Her manicured hands stayed folded tightly across her chest. The sha of his condition was etched on her face, but there was sothing else—a fear of touching him, of tainting herself with whatever disease had undone him.

Standing stout and resolute, Harold placed a comforting hand on Martha’s shoulder. "Calm down. We’ll get to the bottom of this." But even his words were tainted with irritation as he motioned for the others. "Find out what the hell happened. Now."

Servants heard those words and began scurrying away. anwhile, the six stood by, still watching the dishevelled, soiled man with looks of withheld disgust apparent on their faces.

Martha sniffled her tear-streaked face hardening. She nodded briskly and stepped back, leaving the dirty work to soone else. Everyone watched this in interest. This is your son. You’ve seen him naked before. You’ve touched his soiled underwear before have you not? Can’t you do it again?

Across the room, Harold’s daughter, a striking woman in her mid-twenties clad in a sleek designer dress, smirked as she glanced at Martha.

"I already investigated it. He was in the city trying to ss with that scoundrel, Jason," she said, her voice dripping with disdain. "It didn’t end well."

Her words were as much a condemnation of Martha as they were of the situation. But they were also pointed. Calling Jason a scoundrel as if he didnt bear the sa surna as everyone else. Now that was where the magic was at.

Frank’s son leaned forward, his sharp eyes narrowing. "Jason?" he repeated, his voice tinged with suspicion. "What did he do?"

Before anyone could answer, the door creaked open, and another figure entered. Snake-like in his movents, his slicked-back hair and calculating grin imdiately drew the room’s attention. Behind him followed a man dressed in streetwear, clearly out of place among the Cross family’s finery.

"Ah, I see the gang’s all here," the snake-eyed man drawled, his grin widening. "You might want to hear what my new friend here has to say."

This man who was walking in here, looking so snarky and annoying, was the man who was walking on cloud nine recently. A bastard son of Franks and also the man who was going to be marrying soone from an illustrious family soon. The girl he was going to marry was a beautiful girl from the Ellis Family.

The room fell silent as the newcor stepped forward. This man was being raised as soone who was going to be taking on the mantle of the next generation. They had to take him seriously Not just because he was Frank’s son, but also because he was a business genius.

He glanced at the imposing figures and then turned to the man he ca in with, who was nervous while being surrounded by all these people. But he still managed to get the courage to speak though.

"I’m a man from the Carter family, sent by Jas Carter to tell you all about the situation. I hope you can excuse the attire… I was told to not stand out. This information… It’s about Jason," he began and hearing the last na, everyone’s attention beca fully plastered on the man.

Jason? What did Jason have to do with this?

"Word on the street is, he’s made so moves. Big ones. He’s co into so serious money, and he’s not just sitting on it. He’s building sothing… And he also has people working with him, and who knows what they are doing or who they are."

Martha’s face darkened. "Jason?" she spat the na as though it were poison. "That boy has been nothing but a thorn in our side. If he got that money from places our people would never dare enter... He would sully our surna for ages to co."

"We threw him out back then so that he wouldn’t be a stain on our family, and now he dares…" She didn’t finish her sentence, but the murderous intent in her eyes spoke volus.

The snake-eyed bastard son’s grin widened. "Tim went after him and his won. And this…" He gestured at the giggling wreck on the floor. "This is what happened."

As he said that there was a smile on his face, a perpetual smile that lingered there, making it difficult for them to even know what was going on at tis. But at the sa ti, there was also so sadistic interest.

Frank’s other son, couldn’t help but sneer. He didnt like his new brother. He was not soone like them with a good upbringing. He was raised in the streets and because of this, he ended up picking up bad habits and rolling with bad crowds. He had reigned himself in a bit, but he was still not cultured. He needed to get so work done.

Anyway, with him doing law, his cousin, Harodl’s daughter doing her things, and Tim being the idiot he was, there was nobody to count on to run the companies in a good way once the older generation decided to step down. Luckily, there was this prodigy who felt like he had the cold-blooded stare of a viper.

"Find Jason," Martha ordered, her voice shaking with fury. "Bring him to . Make him kneel at my feet and beg my son for forgiveness. He’ll pay for what he’s done."

Everyone nodded. This was going to be important. They couldn’t go to the police for this since it was an internal matter of the Cross family and if it got out they would get humiliated out there.

The man with the eyes of a snake smirked. Jason Cross. I wonder who you are...

— anwhile, Back at Veronica’s House —

Jason Cross was far from the chaos brewing within the Cross family’s mansion. He stepped into his house, a house he considered his because of the woman to whom it belonged, his suit jacket slung over one shoulder, the faint scent of his cologne lingering in the air.

That day had been a busy day at the office, in more ways than one.

As he closed the door behind him, his eyes fell on Veronica Hall, who lay sprawled on the couch, seemingly asleep. Her auburn hair frad her face like a fiery halo, her features soft in the glow of the lamp.

Jason smirked, recognizing the subtle rise and fall of her chest. He’d seen this act before. The last ti Veronica had feigned sleep, it had been an invitation—a ga she enjoyed playing, one he was all too happy to indulge. But this ti, he was not in the mood for anything heavy with the busy day he’d had. Not that he didnt have the energy, but because he didnt want their relationship to be one-dinsional.

Jason had ant what he said before to Samantha. Everyone had a fantasy. And this was made clear by the won in Jason’s life. They all needed a certain type of love. Jason just needed to give it to them in the language they understood and they would find it within them… that deep satisfaction, that feeling of being seen and they would know that the man who saw them, who understood them was Jason, thus drawing them into him.
