"Mmm," Elliana moaned in her sleep before stretching her arms like a cat, kicking the duvet away from herself as she lay on the bed with her legs and arms stretched in the shape of a star.
"Oh my, princess!" Ruth imdiately widened her eyes before she covered the princess quickly.
Though she was dressed decently, her sprawling had ridden the dress up and Ruth didn’t want the princess to feel ashad later.
Elliana, who hadn’t expected anyone to be in the room, imdiately opened her eyes wide and sat straight.
"I... I didn’t know you were in the room, Mom Ruth," Elliana said with red cheeks, and Ruth chuckled at the girl before shaking her head.
"I could see that very well," Ruth said, making the girl look away in shyness.
"What brings you here?" Elliana asked.
"Oh, I totally forgot about it. It’s Prince Stephano’s birthday soon so we ladies were going shopping for our dresses today. Would you like to join us? It would be fun," Ruth looked at the girl with an excited and hopeful smile.
"Can I ask Mr Marino first? A lot happened today and I am yet to talk to him about his battles. He was quite wounded too," Elliana imdiately got down from the bed to check up on her husband as soon as she rembered those bullet wounds.
"Sebastian is fine. His wounds must’ve been healed too. I ca to check up on him five hours ago too.
Well, maybe you don’t realize but you have been out for 18 hours. It’s already the next morning," Ruth smiled.
Elliana’s eyes widened.
The next morning?
Was she out for so long? Why did not anyone wake her up?
"We ca to wake you up countless tis because, well, we wanted to spend ti with you," Ruth chuckled awkwardly.
"However, your protective husband would shoo us away every ti. It was only after he left the royal palace and Ambrose went to check up on the security that was I able to sneak into your room. Now that I think about it, I can’t believe I am acting like a thief in our own royal palace to et you," Ruth scrunched her brows, not liking the sound of it.
"Mr. Marino went out? Where?" Elliana imdiately caught on the most important part of the conversation.
Seeing the girl only curious about her husband, Ruth sighed.
How can they only bla Sebastian for being obsessed with his wife when she is the sa? There is a reason that the cold-hearted son of their lted his facade for this girl.
"We don’t know the details. He just told Stephano that he has sothing urgent to attend to," Ruth said, regretting saying anything to Elliana when she looked at her concerned face.
"Would you like to eat sothing? You must be famished," Ruth tried to change the subject, and Elliana smiled at the woman.
"I will freshen up quickly and co down," Elliana said, clearly wanting so ti alone and Ruth nodded in understanding.
"I will ask the chef to prepare sothing for you quickly," Ruth smiled at Elliana one last ti before leaving the room.
As soon as the lady left, Elliana dropped the smile on her face and walked to the desk where her phone was.
She picked up her phone and was about to dial Sebastian’s number when her gaze fell on what looked like a diary.
What was this? And who placed it here? Elliana wondered. She had never seen Mr. Marino write a diary, and she definitely didn’t write anything for a really long ti, then who did it belong to?
Elliana opened the diary and looked at the first page.
It was an entry from a month ago.
"When the night blooms, the sun bled into the ocean,
And just like the beauty enchants the waves, I was taken aback by how beautiful she looked.
Her hazel eyes, just like lting honey in sunlight that I want to keep looking at, her voice like a siren’s death song that I would listen to even if I die.
Huh... I almost made a mistake in my reports thinking about her once again. She is taking , consuming in such a beautiful way that I can’t even hate this feeling, that has beco my reality. If love was so beautiful, I wonder why it didn’t knock on my door sooner.
She would be awake soon. Got to go,"
The entry said, and Elliana’s heart skipped a beat. There was no na.
By whom it was written, for whom it was written, or who was this person described, but she didn’t need any explanation about those things either.
A subtle smile appeared on her face and she sat on the chair beside.
She knew she was invading Mr. Marino’s things, and this wasn’t the best thing in the world. She also knew that she should respect his privacy, but it almost felt like she wouldn’t be able to stay peaceful anymore if she didn’t read what he had written so far.
Elliana turned a few pages, looking at the date. It was an entry from around 2 weeks ago.
"We caught so poisonous vampire drugs today. The most lethal ones in the market. My people made a bet about which one was the strongest among all of them.
I didn’t participate. I know the answer too well.
The most poisonous and intoxicating vampire drug wasn’t a substance. It was a person, and that person is currently sprawled on our bed like a star, like a kitten who is too tired after being mischievous all day. Look at her moaning my na, making want to turn this kitten into a naughty cat.
She is stretching her hands on my side again and again. Hmm, I guess she misses my chest.
Have I ever ntioned she loves to bite my chest in her sleep? I think I should repay her soti soon. It would be funny to see her face in the morning when she has bite marks all over her body, especially near her... Uhhh, even thinking about it makes go haywire. Got to go,"
Elliana read another entry and her cheeks turned red as she read the last paragraph once again, her heart skipping a beat at the wild thoughts that went inside Mr. Marino’s head.
Elliana flipped a couple of pages more.
"In my bed, there sleeps an enchanting beauty who has the powers of controlling the entire world in her palm. I can’t believe everyone is behind such an innocent soul.
Today my heart broke when this beauty cried in my arms. My beast wanted to rip that heart that was still beating after making my beauty cry like this.
But that soone turns out to be family.
Shouldn’t family be sothing to support us in our bad tis? Why does our family end up hurting us so much? She is so much like that it hurts . I want to give her the entire world because she is my little world. It was so hard coaxing her to sleep. She tries to be so happy all the ti for , and I appreciate every part of it. But honestly, I just want her to be happy. If it would’ve been possible, I had already asked the moon goddess to write all the pain and sufferings for myself so she could leave my Cara alone,"
Elliana’s eyes brimd with tears, and she closed the diary having read enough.
She knew her husband loved her so much that he would do everything for her anyti and anywhere, but reading about it just made her go through all those emotions and feelings.
It almost felt like she could see herself from his gaze.
She didn’t know she was so beautiful in his eyes. Elliana looked at the diary before she lifted it and placed her lips on it, pecking the diary.
"Don’t tell Mr. Marino that I took a sneak peek into you. I want you to keep his feelings a secret," Elliana whispered to the dairy before shaking her head at her stupidity.
She was so busy reading about all these things that she even forgot the reason she had walked to the desk in the first place.
Elliana quickly dialed Sebastian’s number, her brows furrowing when even after three full rings, the man didn’t pick up.
She looked at the number before biting her lips.
She closed her eyes to find out where he was using her Mark bond.
’Where are you, Mr. Marino?’ Elliana whispered in her mind, waiting patiently for his answer.
However, five minutes passed, but no answer ca. She looked around helplessly. Why was it so hard to locate her husband?
She paced the room before stopping and dialing Lucas’s number.
After two rings, the man finally picked up the call.
"Yes, Princess," Lucas said as soon as he saw the number and picked up the call.
"Where is your King? He isn’t picking up my calls. Is he sowhere urgent?" Elliana asked, feeling worried, and Lucas looked at Harry who shook his head.
They didn’t have any idea about him.
"Oh, about that, King is busy in a eting about the rogues. Maybe that’s why he is not getting back to you. I will let him know about it as soon as the eting ends. Please don’t worry," Lucas said and Elliana bit her lips.
"Is that so?" she whispered before ending the call, feeling unsure.
It has never happened before. No matter how busy Mr. Marino gets, he always calls her back or tells her to wait himself.
But why would Lucas lie to her? Maybe she was thinking too much. Elliana sighed, looking at the diary, a subtle smile appearing on her face.
