"Have you lost your mind? What if they catch you and ask you about the new scent or any new product you have in the market? Do you really think you can survive lying to the youngest prince?" Elliana looked at him, and Marcello humd.

He slid the glass door and sat inside the room.

"Well, in that case, I won’t lie. I’ll just tell them the truth," he said, looking between Dexter and Elliana.

"By the way, you never ntioned how you know about the royal spies," Marcello drank the juice as he motioned for Elliana to drink the lemon juice she had asked about.

Elliana paused in her actions. It didn’t take a genius to understand that Marcello was suspicious of her.

She leaned back in her seat.

"Will you believe if I say your youngest masked prince has been hovering around in the University I study?" Elliana chose the safe path, directly using the boss’s na.

Marcello quirked his brows at her. It was obvious he didn’t believe her, but before he could say anything, Dexter scoffed loudly.

"I still don’t understand why the hell is he so obsessed with you. Tell , did you seduce him sohow? He is the known devil with no heart. The first ti he picked you in his arms and left and then fed you, I thought he was barely bullying a human, but I guess he was specifically looking for you," Dexter said.

Marcello looked between Dexter and Elliana, and it didn’t look like a lie.

But then again, Sebastian Marino wasn’t a person who would bring his spies everywhere he went. He only brings Lucas with him, that Duke’s kid. So it was still worth suspecting how she knew the royal spies.

Marcello smirked, nodding at them to let them know he bought their story.

"Let’s go. I think you are right, we should leave," Marcello stood from his place and Elliana smiled inwardly, unaware of the plans that Marcello had for them.

As they walked out of the restaurant, Marcello noticed how Elliana imdiately adjusted her mask and pulled out her scent spray before spraying it on herself, making him quirk his brows.

Trying everything to hide her identity?

"Give so to too," Marcello distracted her while he looked at the approaching n behind her.

"Here," Elliana turned to give him the scent when out of nowhere, she felt a push on herself and she stumbled back.

"Elliana!" Dexter shouted when she fell backward.

He was about to use his vampire speed when soone held her from behind, saving her from falling to the ground.

Elliana froze in her place at the familiar touch, and her heartbeat quickened.

No. She had only seen Harry. There was no way he would be here, visiting the black market personally. Usually, they only send their spies for this work.

She turned and looked into the man’s eyes, her pupils dilating, when she saw the recognition in his eyes.

"You-"

The prince couldn’t say anything when Elliana turned around with a jerk.

She looked at Marcello, the look of being betrayed clear in her eyes, making the latter look down in guilt and sha for so reason.

Elliana looked at Dexter, her eyes screaming for help, and Dexter imdiately grabbed her hand before pulling her towards himself.

"Damn it! The things I do for you," Dexter bent and picked her bridal style before he dashed towards the exit of the black market.

Marcello’s eyes widened. He had never expected them to run away like this. Well, he should’ve expected it if his suspicion about her being a spy herself was right, but he surely hadn’t thought they would get to et the Prince rather than his n like he had thought they would.

His gaze t with the man standing in front of him, the dark look in his eyes, making him want to regret what he did just now.

However, what surprised him even more was the fact that rather than asking him anything, the prince ran behind Elliana.

"Prince -" Marcello started.

"Princess!" The prince shouted, and Marcello paused in his steps, the hair on his neck standing.

What did he call her? Princess?

He called Elliana a princess? Why would a vampire prince call Elliana, a human, princess? His mind went haywire and he ran behind the prince to get the full context of what was going on, without caring about being caught anymore.

This was way more intriguing for him to ignore. Did he really make a mistake and wound the bond he had with Elliana over a re useless suspicion?

"Glory!" The prince shouted again as they exited the black market that was situated in the hidden mountains and rushed to the end of the forest, and everyone paused.

Dexter stumbled forward in shock that the prince knew her made-up na but before he could fall forward down the cliff, the prince held them before pulling Elliana into his hands.

"Look here," he forced her to look into his eyes.

"I said look at . Why are you running away from ? Did I even say anything yet?" he asked, and Elliana glared at him, huffing loudly, making him sigh.

"Please tell you were not here just for so fun because I am sure that’s not the case. So pray tell what you were doing in the black market?" Vincenzo grabbed her jaws, looking at the glaring girl with a helpless smile of his own.

"First, stop calling a Princess. I am not your princess," Elliana hissed, her indication clear.

She didn’t want anyone around them to know who she was, and Vincenzo humd.

"And what about my questions? Are you going to answer them anyti soon? Or should I dial a familiar number and ask for so help?" Vincenzo threatened.

Elliana gritted her teeth, her gaze landing on the man who was following him.

"You piece of sh -" she started cussing Marcello, who chuckled awkwardly, but before she could complete her sentence, Vincenzo placed his hand on her mouth to stop her, making her glare at him.

"I was here to catch the culprits. I asked around where we could find those vampires who do your job for so money. I wanted to know more about who the hell attacked ," Elliana cooked up a lie, and Dexter who was looking between Prince Vincenzo and Elliana, quirked his brows.

This girl’s presence of mind while lying was really impeccable. He didn’t know if it was worth the praise or sothing everyone should be wary of.

"Well, about that Princess, why didn’t you tell ? I would’ve told you the truth earlier. Those n are actually dead. Your... I an, I heard he killed them," Vincenzo said and Elliana raised her brows.

It was news for her too. She knew that Mr. Marino wouldn’t let those n go easily but -

Her heart skipped a beat, and she looked down at her feet. The emotions her heart was feeling were too big to be able to mask in a second.

She was feeling ashad for so reason.

He has been anything but good to her and look at what she was doing.

She gulped her saliva and took a deep breath to catch a hold of what she was feeling.

"I know you are pissed off because of -"

"Let’s not talk about it," Elliana looked up into Vincenzo’s eyes, and the prince watched her eyes going from soft to frustrated to soft again.

"It’s impeccable how you recognize so easily," Elliana whispered.

Vincenzo smiled.

How could he not recognize those eyes that he had once desired to see every single day and wanted nothing more than to know she was alive when he hadn’t t her for more than a year?

She might never realize how much her friendship ant to him when he had such a hard ti making friends and felt like no one was truly by his side.

She held him and kept the parts of him that he never knew were breaking apart. She nded those parts without even realizing it and kept him sane and going.

"I know," Vincenzo didn’t elaborate.

Elliana looked up at him, the emotions in his voice and eyes making her smile.

"Do you expect an appraisal now? Best friend tag?"

"Hey! That’s mine," Dexter shouted before his eyes t with Vincenzo’s hard gaze, and he pouted before looking down.

"I was just saying that I t her first and I was the one who helped her and was with her all the ti...so... I should get the tag if there is any," Dexter pouted even more, and Elliana chuckled.

"Why did you follow though? If I am running away, it ans I don’t want to be seen. His spies were there in the market. What if they had heard you?" Elliana looked at Vincenzo, who scratched the back of his head awkwardly.

"Well, bla for thinking this stupid here was abducting you because why would you want to run away from ? Given how this was a bad place, I had all the thoughts running in my head," Vincenzo sighed.

Marcello, who was just hearing their conversation and getting more and more confused with each passing second didn’t know if interrupting was a good idea or not.

"You are acting like you will support in anything I do, even if it’s so illegal shit I am doing behind everyone’s back," Elliana said.

"Do you think I won’t?" He asked.

Elliana didn’t say anything and rather turned to Marcello.

The playfulness in her eyes was imdiately lost and she took a deep shaky breath to mask the hurt she was feeling.
