It was tough. To act normal when all she was thinking about was how to tell the truth to Dexter.

The truth about what she was doing with the wolves so late at night, why she needed him to sneak and go to the forest, what were the royal vampires doing there, and why she needed to hide her identity.

Elliana looked around as she walked inside the University, feeling jittery.

She knew Dexter would believe and support her in whatever madness it was, yet the scared part of her, the child inside her who had lost all her friends one by one since childhood felt scared.

Elliana turned around and noticed that unlike always, the car that dropped her there was still standing, as if waiting for her to get inside the University.

Her suspicion was right. Mr. Marino has beco highly suspicious of her. Elliana sighed.

"Hey," Soone said to her from her left, and she nearly jumped in her place.

"Woah, that was so strong reaction. What were you thinking about?" Daniel asked Elliana, and she chuckled awkwardly.

"It’s nothing," She smiled.

"I am sure it’s not nothing. Are you okay? Did you rest well at ho?" Daniel asked, not probing her more, fidgeting in his place as he didn’t know how to approach her.

He wishes he had the sa confidence as Dexter, who approaches her without a care in the world and acts however he wants with her.

"By the way, thanks for saving my life yesterday. I don’t rember if I thanked you. I was quite shocked after being drenched like that," Elliana chuckled awkwardly, and he smiled, looking at her hand that he wanted to grab and stop her.

He wanted to ask her about a dinner together. It won’t be considered as a date, right? Maybe he should just say that if she wants to make it up for yesterday, she should treat him to dinner. Daniel looked at her from the corner of his eyes as they started walking forward.

Daniel looked at his friends Alex and George when he couldn’t find a way, and his friends who noticed his awkwardness, chuckled at his helplessness before they nodded back in understanding.

"So, Elliana, what are your plans for this weekend? Are you busy?" They asked in unison

"I am not sure. I don’t plan my schedule. Why? Is there sothing important this weekend?" Elliana asked distractedly.

"Well, It’s not sothing important. Why don’t you and Daniel -" Alex couldn’t complete his sentence as Samantha and Alcinder joined them.

"Are you okay, Elliana? Feeling much better?" Samantha cupped her cheeks, referring to what happened yesterday, and how she was found almost drowning in the lake.

"Yeah, I am feeling much better now. My guardian, he, he treated ," a blush rose to Elliana’s cheeks when she rembered, Mr. Marino’s way of treating her.

She clenched her hand around her purse before sighing. No. She can’t be thinking about those things here. She must concentrate on how to tell Dexter the truth without exposing her too much. Elliana nodded at herself.

As she was about to enter the corridor with her friends, she noticed Madeline and Aditya coming from the other side, and she turned around, not wanting to et or interact with them.

"Elliana?" Aditya said as soon as he saw her back, and he imdiately rushed to her side, making Madeline, who was busy on her phone freeze in her place.

What did Aditya say? Elliana? Elliana was here? But how is that possible?

Didn’t Boston say Elliana jumped into the water to save her dignity? Even though she wasn’t brutally injured, why the hell is she here so early?

Rembering all the ti she spent with the vampire just because he said he did her work, Madeline clenched her hands when she looked up at the girl, who was smiling at her friends.

Those vampires were even extra sweet with her today, weren’t they? So this bastard girl didn’t lose her dignity like Madeline wanted her to, but now she has grown her friendship with these powerful leeches even more?

Madeline tasted the bitterness in her mouth.

Everything was clear right in front of her. She was tricked. She, who is always ahead of everyone, was tricked, and all this happened because of Elliana.

She had to go out with a vampire all because she wanted to remove Elliana from her life. The more Madeline looked at Elliana’s laughing form, the uglier her expression turned.

"Hey, Elliana," Aditya walked to her, and Madeline looked at the back of her so-called boyfriend before gritting her teeth.

’Don’t be so happy when you see her, Aditya. It makes want to ruin her even more. Every step you take towards her, I want to revert her with the hours of miseries in her life,’ Madeline thought as she started walking towards the group.

Elliana heard him pretty clearly, and she sighed. Now that the man called her himself, she wasn’t really left with a choice, was she?

"Why is he calling her?" Samantha scowled, as they sided and looked at the so-called council head’s son and princess of the hunter bloodline walking towards their Elliana.

"You guys can leave without . I’ll join you guys later," Elliana smiled at her group of friends.

Samantha and everyone wanted to wait and see what this was all about, but when Elliana said they should leave, they didn’t want to impose and look like they were eavesdropping, when it was actually what they wanted to do.

Daniel nodded and turned around, followed by everyone.

However, before they could move a step, they heard Dexter’s voice who was getting a bit too comfortable with Elliana these days.

"I think I would like to stop and see what this is all about. I have to talk to Elliana too. So be quick, I am in line," Dexter stood behind Elliana, placing his hand on her shoulder in a protective gesture, and Elliana looked at him gratefully, making Daniel narrow his eyes.

What was so special about Dexter that she was letting him stay, but asked everyone else to leave? He clenched his hands, and Alex and George noticed it too.

"How have you been?" Aditya completely ignored the vampires who were looking at him.

He was used to such hateful and cautious gazes from the vampires, but he also knew that none of them would be able to do anything against him.

"I am doing fine. Things are better when people are not plotting against you and planning your next miseries," Elliana said, her gaze flickering to Madeline, who glared back at her.

"How are you doing, Mr. Aditya? You seem thinner than before. Are you not eating well?" Elliana took one step forward, liking how Madeline imdiately went into alert mode, making her smile.

Everything was happening, between the girls, and Aditya, who was unaware of the so-called glaring and gaze-fighting, took a deep breath, inhaling Elliana’s calming scent.

"It’s just too much pressure from the council these days. I just wanted to check on you, since... You know," Aditya let the statent hang, making the vampires more curious about Elliana.

Since what? Was her life in so kind of danger?

"Elliana, can I talk to you alone for a few monts?" Madeline asked.

Elliana didn’t want to go. She wanted to say no. However, a part of her also wanted to know what she wanted to talk about, and that’s why she nodded and followed Madeline to wherever she was taking her.

What if it’s sothing about her father?

Madeline took her all the way to the terrace, and Elliana looked at the back of her so-called stepsister as she walked towards the railing.

"What exactly did you want to talk to about?" Elliana asked, not understanding her purpose, and Madeline turned to her.

"Why are you alive?" Her question was loud and clear, and Elliana’s expression faltered.

Why are you alive? Why don’t you die? Don’t you hate your cursed self? Just die and end the miseries of yourself and everyone around you. Elliana rembered all the words that she was quite used to.

She was used to them, but it didn’t an she didn’t hate them, that she didn’t feel bad every ti she heard them.

"What is that supposed to an?" Elliana tried to hold her composure.

"Why are you pretending, Elliana? Don’t you know what I am talking about? You had jumped into the ocean, didn’t you? Why did you co out of there alive? You are as useless as dirt when you are alive, at least you could’ve helped so marine life by becoming their food when you would’ve died in the ocean," Madeline said, and Elliana forced a smile on her face.

"How do you know about it, Madeline? The ship was full of vampires, and the only human on that ship was . So how did you know that sothing like that happened? Everyone was banned from spreading the rumors too," Elliana said before scoffing.

"You are now conspiring with the vampires around to hurt ? What is your problem? What the hell did I do to you, Madeline? Why do you always feel so threatened with my presence?" Elliana stepped closer to Madeline, her expression becoming sad, and Madeline scoffed.

"What is my problem? You are my problem. Your entire existence. Whenever I look at you, we are reminded that my father once cheated on my mother. That he had a child out of wedlock with so dirt out there," Madeline said, and Elliana’s hands clenched.

Madeline knows that Elliana can take anything but an insult to her mother.

"Mind your words, Madeline," Elliana said seriously.

"Oh, so now you have the guts to tell to find my words. What makes you so daring enough? The fact that you are his wife now? Everything Elliana. Everything that is yours right now is all because of ," Madeline walked to Elliana.

"You do know that I can walk into that so-called house of yours and snatch everything from your hand, right? After all, I am the real bride who was changed at the last mont, no? Will you be able to do sothing about it?" Madeline asked, and Elliana didn’t like the sound of it.
