165 Eavesdropping

“Thank you,” she said. Other than this ‘thank you’, He Miao really did not know what else she could say.

She had promised him that since he was busy with work, she would personally cooperate with the IT departnt to solve this problem, but she did nothing and had slept on the recliner for the entire afternoon.

It was so embarrassing.

He Miao closed her eyes in embarrassnt, her face reddened by the setting sun outside the window. She glanced awkwardly at the busy Jing Yan and suddenly felt like she was in the way, so she laughed dryly. “Then I’ll go back first.”

!!

“Burning the bridge after crossing it?” Jing Yan imdiately looked up at her unhappily. He did not even care about the docunts in his hand and said with a frown, “He Miao, am I your tool?”

“Of course not. I’m just looking at how busy you are.” He Miao endured his unhappy gaze and forced herself to sit down beside him. She laughed awkwardly. “Then I’ll leave after dinner.”

Jing Yan snorted coldly and did not waste any more ti. He quickly finished the docunts in his hands, and soone knocked on his office door.

Chen Zhao smiled at He Miao, trying to please her. “Hello, Miss He. President Jing asked us to prepare dinner for you.”

He placed the lunchboxes on the table one by one, and after doing what he was supposed to do, he left the office with his head lowered.

Outside the office, the secretaries were chattering together, discussing the woman who had entered the president’s office at noon and never ca out again.

Seeing Chen Zhao return, Li Xi ran to him in her ten-centiter high heels and asked, “What are they doing inside?”

“Li Xi,” Chen Zhao frowned in dissatisfaction. After following Jing Yan for two days, he had learned so of Jing Yan’s power. “This is not sothing you should be asking about. It’s ti to get off work, so you can leave.”

Li Xi’s expression changed when she saw Chen Zhao not giving her any face. She crossed her arms and said in disdain, “You’re just a new secretary. My father has been the butler of Old Master Jing for decades. Who do you think you sre?”

Chen Zhao’s face turned pale as he glared at Li Xi, who was showing off her strength. He said coldly, “No matter who your father is, I am the Chief Secretary of President Jing. If I tell you to leave, you have to leave!”

“Who do you think you are?” Li Xi sneered, not caring at all.

She was about to say sothing else when the timid girl next to her stopped her. “Sister Li Xi, please don’t get into a conflict with Brother Chen Zhao. President Jing might hear you.”

Li Xi glanced disdainfully at Chen Zhao, who was so angry that his cheeks were puffed up. He snorted and turned to leave.

The little girl timidly approached Chen Zhao and advised, “Brother Chen Zhao, don’t be angry. Li Xi is always like this. Her father and President Jing are old friends. Please don’t take it to heart.”

“I know.” Chen Zhao heaved a long sigh of relief. He looked at the ek girl beside him. Tao Xin, do you want to go to the movies with after work?”

“Alright!” Tao Xin nodded with joy, but her eyes were curiously looking at the CEO’s office. She whispered in Chen Zhao’s ear, “But what is the relationship between that girl and President Jing? I ca late today and I haven’t even seen her. President Jing only allowed you into his office, so please tell .”

Hearing the girl’s sweet begging and the girl’s fragrance entering his nose, Chen Zhao imdiately softened and explained, “That woman is President Jing’s ex-fiancée.”

“Argh! It’s her!” Tao Xin covered her mouth in surprise. A trace of jealousy flashed in the depths of her eyes, but she concealed it well.

She was still smiling sweetly and walked beside Chen Zhao like a lady. She kept a distance between them as they walked out of the company office to watch a movie.

After seeing Chen Zhao leave the building, Li Xi walked out from the corner. She narrowed her eyes and glared at Chen Zhao’s back with hatred. Then, she turned around and walked back to the company office.

The woman at the front desk, who was getting ready to get off work, saw her and asked in surprise, “Sister Li Xi, why did you co back?”

“Oh, look at my mory. I left my bag upstairs. I’ll go back and get it.” In order not to arouse suspicion, Li Xi explained it this way on purpose. This way, if Chen Zhao found out in the future, she would have a reasonable excuse.

Li Xi had co back this ti to see the true face of that vixen. Her father was really too much. She did not know why he was on her side.

When she heard that Jing Yan had canceled their engagent, she was already tempted. She asked her father for help, but he refused her in every way possible and even scolded her.

This ti, she had finally beco Jing Yan’s secretary with her own abilities. She did not need the old man’s permission to get close to Jing Yan anymore.

She took the elevator back to the CEO’s office and quietly observed the movents in the office.

It was not until sunset that the office door was finally pushed open.

Li Xi imdiately held her breath and hid behind the door of the secretary’s office to eavesdrop.

Jing Yan took He Miao’s hand and said reluctantly, “When will you co see again?”

“When I have ti, I’ll be busy.” He Miao pulled back her hand and looked at him guiltily.
