Chapter 594: A Familiar Teacher

After the teleport process was complete, the girls and I stepped out of our chambers and headed directly ahead for the main building. A crowd of students walked alongside us, both Vanguard and Support, ready to attend their first day at this new academy. There were bound to be so early-risers and late-wakers, but for the most part, everyone seed to get here around this tifra as well, which should an the girls and I are fine.

Upon entering the building’s wide automatic sliding glass doors, we were greeted by a fully crowd of students, waiting for instructions. This was the front hall, the front foyer of the main academy building, and up ahead, on the elevated stage platform, Tian Lin stood firm, waiting for the rest of the students to enter.

Confused as to what to do, the girls and I simply went with the flow and gathered in the corner of the hall, a bit isolated from everyone else. Naturally, we received many looks in our way due to our group’s appearance and tendency to stand out, but there was nothing to be done about that. Compared to yesterday, though, there were far less glances. It would seem so of the male students’ excitent and anticipation for their first day at this new academy outweighed their horniness.

Soon, most to all of the students had gathered in the front hall, and Tian Lin began his speech.

“Welco, students, to your first day at Counterhex Academy. Yesterday, I did not have a chance to explain much to you, but today, your respective horoom teachers will give you a full explanation of this institution and its goal. Now, please put on the watches that ca with your uniforms yesterday. Regardless of your dominant side, put the watch on your right wrist.”

The students did as told, pulling out the watches and strapping them onto their wrists. Yesterday, we’d been told to set them aside for the ti being and await further instructions before putting them on, probably because they wanted to have us all do so together. After several seconds of waiting, Tian Ling continued his explanation.

“This watch will be known as your ‘Navigator’ from here on out. Of course, it can be used to simply check the ti, but if you tap on its screen, a whole new panel will appear in holographic form, providing you with a variety of options. First, however, you need to perform the initial registration process, which you can do by simply tapping on the watch’s screen twice. After that, tapping it just once is enough to trigger the Navigator nu.”

The students, myself and the girls included, all did as told. I looked down and tapped on the wristwatch’s panel twice with my knuckle, and instantly, the screen flickered to life with a bright blue light, projecting a rectangular holographic display above the watch’s monitor. On it was a single line of text:

[Registering…]

After several loops of the three dots repeating themselves over and over again, the screen finally changed, and on it displayed a list of information about :

[Na: Xuan Kai]

[Sex: Male]

[Age: 19]

[Birthday: 11/07]

[Class: Vanguard Elite]

[Student ID: 69]

Below was a prompt:

[Is this information correct?]

[Confirm: Yes/No]

I tapped on yes, naturally, because all the info matched. According to the IMF’s records, I shouldn’t be 19, though… I guess they sohow discovered the ti we spent in the Void Realm cultivating.

[User Registered]

Instantly, a voice spoke out to in my head, startling a bit, and judging from the reactions of everyone else, it would seem they too heard it as they finished their registration process.

[Welco, Operator. I will be your Navigator for the rest of your journey here at this Academy, and as a mber of the Counterhex Force. As long as the watch is on you, I will be connected directly to your brain as your private assistant. Should you ever need anything, I will be here to help.]

So… you can read my thoughts? I pondered in my head, but to no response. Apparently, this private assistant didn’t have the capability to read my thoughts even though it was connected directly to my head and communicated with via words spoken directly into my brain rather than from the outside into my ear.

With that, the hologram changed from the [Welco Operator] screen to an entire list of items, as follows:

[Navigator nu]

[Inbox]

[ssages]

[Quick Travel]

[Calendar]

[Status]

[S.O.S.]

Beside the list was a floating and spinning disk of so sort, probably the ‘visualization’ of the Navigator Assistant.

“You will have the chance to learn more about the Navigators as you enter class,” Tian Lin said, voice booming enough to instantly grab everyone’s attention. “For now, however, click on the ‘Status’ selection from the Navigator nu to see your horoom teacher along with the room number so you know where to go. Keep in mind—the first number always represents the floor number, while the second and third represent which room on that floor.”

With that, the students got to work, tapping on the Status tabs of their Navigator nus. It was a magical experience, truly—despite being translucent in the air, I could feel it like a real tablet screen with my fingers, and interact with the hologram perfectly fine. I didn’t know just what kind of technology they used to create sothing like this, but it most certainly wasn’t magic.

Unsurprisingly, the Status screen was pretty much an identical copy of my Student ID, just with added detail. It had my location status on it, GPS coordinates, the ti and date, and naturally the rest of my info like my na and whatnot. But at the very bottom of the screen… was a single line.

[Horoom:]

And what was written beside it… was a familiar na. In fact, one so familiar that I couldn’t help but think this was not as simple as a coincidence:

Ling Xin.
