I read the article with shock and disbelief and was in rage at the falsification of it all.

I called Larry imdiately. "Sue them for defamation and slander! This is completely FALSE!"
Larry was cautious. "Truth is the defense against defamation. Can you prove nothing inappropriate occurred?"
"OF COURSE! We discussed business in hotels! Investnts. All of which were completely professional!"
"But the photos show apparent intimacy at dinners and late-night etings. Perception is the real problem here."
I called Katherine, feeling desperate and panicking at the thought of her reading the lies.
"It’s not true.. none of it! I swear to you!"
"I know." Her voice was flat and emotionless.
"You believe ?" I asked warily.

I hung up, feeling even more confused. Beverly seed... genuine, concerned, and self-aware?

"She... she DID this. She orchestrated everything, manipulated completely, and used ." I roared.
Fuck! Katherine was RIGHT, and I dismissed her concerns. I gaslighted her, telling her she was paranoid.
I was at the office when Beverly arrived for the scheduled eting, which I organized... and it would be the last one ever.

"Hold it, Beverly. We need to discuss YOUR manipulation and YOUR orchestration of this entire situation."

Beverly’s mask slipped for a brief mont, then quickly recovered. "That’s absurd. Why would I-"

She had destroyed publicly and made the villain to make herself the victim.
This was her manipulation and ultimate revenge.
For my rejection, for choosing Katherine over her, and for ending the partnership.
And Katherine was watching, seeing the evidence, I couldn’t tell if she doubted or believed.
