"YOU!" He slamd his hand on the table. "You think this is funny?"

Evelyn smiled, completely unbothered, as she watched how furious he had beco.

"A little. You do realize how ridiculous this sounds, right? You used your wife and daughter as bait just to make sign so papers."

William Walters clenched his hand tightly, trying to keep his blood pressure at a safe level.

"Mr. Walters, you could have sent an email." She said calmly.

The vein on William’s forehead looked even more apparent, as if ready to explode.

"Do not mock , Evelyn!" he snapped.

Evelyn chuckled softly, acting innocent.

"I’m not mocking you. I’m genuinely impressed. You’ve reached a new level of audacity. If there’s a World Cup for terrible fathers, trust , you’d win gold."

Alicia gasped softly.

Stella looked like she might faint.

Lisa, who was still near the wall, covered her mouth to hide a grin.

The bodyguard, who had earlier appeared like a grim reaper, suddenly stifled their laugh.

While William Walters?

Oh, he almost had a heart attack.

His knuckles turned white as he clenched his fists.

His eyes looked red as he coldly said, "You have no idea what you’re getting yourself into. That company belongs to , not you."

"Oh, really?" Evelyn raised an eyebrow. "Then perhaps you shouldn’t have signed over your shares while you were busy impressing your mistress with luxury handbags."

William stood abruptly, his fury radiating across the room.

"You ungrateful child! Everything you have cos from !"

Evelyn rose too, slowly and deliberately, eting his glare without flinching.

Her voice dropped to a quiet, deadly calm. "No, Mr. Walters! Everything I have now is because you threw out. Banished from your house, and as your daughter. And I rebuilt everything myself without you. Did you forget you forced to sign anything your stupid lawyer gave ?"

For a mont, William actually looked speechless.

Evelyn glanced at the papers on the table and smirked.

"You want to withdraw the lawsuit against your beloved mistress? That’s not happening. And as for reinstating you as CEO?"

She paused, pretending to think.

"That would require to believe you can run a company without accidentally setting it on fire and bringing it to the ground, crashing."

William’s voice trembled with rage. "You think you can defy and walk out of here unhard?"

Evelyn leaned slightly forward. "Try stopping ."

The bald bodyguard took a hesitant step forward, but Lisa’s sharp gaze pinned him in place.

The tension snapped through the room like calm before a storm.

Evelyn smirked, her eyes locked on her father’s.

"You wanted here, and now you’ve got . But next ti, try calling like a civilized person. Using hostages is so... out of date!"

Evelyn turned to Alicia and Stella, smiling warmly, and said, "Let’s go."

They both stood imdiately, relief washing over their faces.

Stella shot William Walters a look so sharp it could have sliced his expensive tie.

Alicia’s glare carried the kind of silent judgnt only a woman honestly disappointed in a man could give.

They were ready to walk out together, heads high and dignity intact.

But then...

"Capture her!" William Walters roared, his voice echoing across the room. "Beat her up if she refuses! And force her to sign the paper!"

Evelyn stopped mid-step. Her heel clicked once on the floor as she turned slowly back toward him.

Her expression didn’t waver, but her eyes, those calm, dangerous eyes, turned cold.

Lisa was instantly beside her, a blur of movent that would’ve impressed even Evelyn if she didn’t know who she was.

Alicia and Stella, however, stood frozen in shock. Their mouths parted slightly, unable to believe the fact that the man standing in front of them, the man who was supposed to be father and husband, had just ordered his n to attack his own daughter.

The six bodyguards stationed around the room began to move, stepping forward in unison.

Each of them was tall, muscular, and expressionless, as if they’d long ago learned to detach themselves from morality.

Their eyes were cold and sharp, locked on Evelyn like predators closing in on prey.

Evelyn, however, didn’t even blink. A small, almost amused smile curved her lips.

Lisa leaned slightly forward, her hand already slipping beneath her coat. "Ma’am," she whispered, voice low and urgent, "let handle them."

Evelyn turned her head lazily, as if Lisa had just offered her tea instead of assistance.

Lisa flicked her wrist, and with a sharp click, an expandable baton slid out into her grip.

"I’ll take them down before they touch you," Lisa muttered, her stance already shifting into readiness.

Evelyn’s calm expression didn’t change.

She placed a hand on Lisa’s shoulder and whispered back, her tone almost teasing, "Lisa, don’t bother. Just watch Stella and Alice. I’ll take care of them."

"W-what?" Lisa almost staggered backward, eyes wide as she looked at her boss, as if Evelyn had just announced she could fly.

"Ma’am," Lisa whispered harshly, "those n aren’t street thugs. They’re professionals. They’re trained bodyguards."

"I know."

Lisa’s confusion deepened. "Then why are you appearing so calm? And still able to smile?"

Evelyn looked at her with a slight smile. "Because I’m about to stretch my legs a little."

Lisa opened her mouth to protest, but Evelyn casually pointed to the extendable steel baton in her hand.

"Ah, let borrow that," she said. "I don’t want to tire my hand punching them."

"P-punching them?" Lisa repeated, horrified. "Ma’am, this is not a movie. They’re twice your size. And, there are six of them..."

"Three tis, actually," Evelyn murmured thoughtfully, glancing at one of the n’s arms. "But who’s counting?"

Lisa just stood there, utterly lost between wanting to protect her boss and wanting to run for her life.

"Please don’t do this," Lisa whispered. "I like my job. I don’t want to explain to Mr. Knight how you broke all your bones before lunch."

Evelyn’s soft laugh took Lisa completely by surprise.

"Relax," she said, eyes sparkling briefly before cooling again. "I’ll be fine. I promise."
