A week had passed since the Alexandrus Library opening, and Adal still hadn’t left the building.
He had stocked up on plenty of provisions beforehand, so that he could keep the library open for as many hours of the day as possible.
The majority of the library visitors were scholars and the elderly, so that left the library feeling uneventful.
However, on the eighth day, sothing unbelievable happened.
As Adal stood behind the library counter, reading a book on the history of the world Boen, a couple entered.
He looked up.
There was a man, handso, tall, though not quite as tall as Adal, and lavishly dressed. He was holding hands with a beauty who seed to beco more nervous with every step.
Wait a minute... Is that not Juliette?
The couple arrived at the desk. The man wore a smile on his face that suggested he was better than everyone else, while Juliette couldn’t even look at Adal’s face.
"Good morning, Librarian. My wife and I here fancy a tour of this new establishnt. Show us around, will you?"
Imdiately, Adal hated the man.
He had done his research on him.
His na was John Pearlington, and he belonged to a family of great architects. It was his ancestors who had built the Fairwhite City Palace, and it was ho to the King of the Torn Kingdom.
Juliette’s father had of course offered his daughter’s hand to him, as it ford a connection between the Everstone Family and the Pearlington Family.
Juliette, however, had already ntioned that she had no interest in the man.
Adal could see this by the way that she held his hand.
"Of course. What is it you would like to see?"
John rubbed at his chin in thought.
"Anything, just make it exciting for my wife here. Oh, and have a maid brew us so tea whilst you’re at it."
Juliette’s cheeks blushed brighter at the entitlent of her new husband.
She finally looked up at Adal, wondering whether the man would be angered.
However, Adal didn’t seem bothered at all.
"There are no maids or servants here. Only , and my books."
John shot him a confused glance.
"Goodness . No servants? How do you even live?"
Adal shrugged his shoulders.
"I do things the old-fashioned way, sir."
Juliette continued to watch in confusion. Why was Adal being so nice to such a man?
Does he have so sort of ulterior plans?
"But if you would like, I can fetch you a tea myself whilst you wait on one of our comfortable chairs. Your wife can help , if she knows how you like your tea.
W-what? The words caught Juliette off guard.
John Pearlington, who seed too full of himself to sense anything wrong with the request, shrugged.
"Why not. Go on then, but afterwards, I want the finest tour of them all. You will tell all about this Alexandrus Library."
A smile twitched onto Adal’s face, as he nodded his head and began to lead the couple to their lounge area.
"Please, follow ."
---
After John Pearlington was left alone in the lounge area, Adal and Juliette were left to travel to the top floor of the library, where Adal’s personal kitchen was located.
As they climbed the stairs, they remained silent. There was clearly tension between them.
Adal used the mont to use so of his skills on her.
Juliette had no sexual partners, making her a virgin. She also had a lustful thought currently floating in her mind.
"I still don’t understand why he turned down Penelope. Please don’t tell , is Adal actually gay?!"
"..."
That’s... Not what I wanted to hear.
Once they arrived at the kitchen, which was a small modest area, spacious enough to keep one man’s needs, Adal closed the door behind them and looked at Juliette.
The woman still struggled to et his eyes. Was she blushing or was it her makeup?
"Congratulations on your marriage. He seems to be a great man." Adal said in a way that seed sincere.
Juliette almost chuckled.
"Do you really believe that?" She asked.
"No, of course I do not."
"..."
The words hung in the air for a mont, before Juliette finally chuckled. It was a cute thing, and she used her dress sleeve to cover her mouth as she did.
Sothing was satisfying about hearing a noble man being insulted by a man whom he saw as his lesser.
Adal fetched a tray, cups and boiled water over a stove. As he made the tea, Juliette watched him carefully.
Adal caught her staring through the glimpse of his eye.
"Is sothing wrong, Lady Everstone? No, I guess you are no longer an Everstone. Is it correct to call you Lady Pearlington, as you are now married?"
Juliette ignored him.
"Adal sir, w-why did you bring up here?"
"Hmm? To help fetch your husband tea. As you know, a perfect milk-to-water ratio is very important, especially for nobles. One wrong step and they might have you whipped."
Juliette knew this, but surely that wasn’t the only reason...
"Is that all?" She asked again, shyly looking at the ground.
Noticing the tone of her voice, Adal stopped what he was doing montarily, and leaned against the counter.
He then stared at Juliette and examined her Lustful Thoughts.
"Why was I expecting him to make a move on ? Is that what I secretly wanted, even though my husband is just downstairs?"
"What a fool I am. Why would the Librarian care about my body, if he did not even care for Penelope’s? When will I understand that I am not a woman who can arouse n? Even my own marriage has only happened because of my status. Is this the life of a lesser noble woman?"
The thoughts, whilst partially lustful, seed more focused on emotion.
This was helpful for Adal to know, as it was clear that as long as Lust was a present the, he could also examine all surrounding thoughts.
Most importantly, Juliette was wrong. Her body was more than enough for him.
He had brought her here for that exact reason.
"Juliette?"
His words drew her from her thoughts. She looked up at him and fiddled with her sleeve.
"Y-yes?"
"Take off your dress. I’m interested in seeing what sort of underwear a married woman wears beneath her clothing."
