It was the day of the party.

Adal stood outside his library, making sure that the sign said that it was closed for the day.

A chariot waited outside for him, which he had loaded with ten perfectly bound copies of The Karamazov Siblings, by Adal Alexandrus. The cover was burgundy with golden lining.

The sun was setting, and as he travelled through the city dressed in his stylish black suit, he found himself looking forward to what the event would hold.

Whilst travelling, Adal slowly pumped mana into the smartphone. It was a slow process, as though he was trying to bring the battery back to life.

With ti, he hoped it would work.

He soon arrived at the location. He could tell that he was late, as plenty of n and won dressed in lavish clothing were standing outside the extravagant hall, drinking glasses of wine and laughing with each other.

Adal thanked the chariot rider and stepped out of the vehicle, with the crate of books in his hand.

Then, he slowly made his way inside.

---

"Adal, my boy! This is the lad I told you all about. The young man who writes books."

Shortly after entering the building, Adal found Leonard Everstone hanging around a staircase with a group of four friends.

Each man was older, in their fourties, and had powerful looks to them.

A swift look at their sexual partner history and he learned all of their nas.

He recognised most, which ant that they truly were powerful n of the kingdom.

Adal dipped his head respectfully towards the n and introduced himself.

To his surprise, they were very respectful and seed interested in his profession.

Leonard urged him to hand them copies of his book, which he did. Afterwards, Leonard told him to head upstairs.

The man said that’s where all the youngsters hung out. On the large open-roofed balcony.

With a sigh, Adal lifted a glass of wine from a server, downed it in one gulp, and headed upstairs.

Imdiately, he was overwheld.

There were at least a hundred nobles on the rooftops, gossiping and groping at each other.

Couples exchanged kisses, seeming desperate to find a room to fuck in.

Groups sat by tables, laughing rich laughs, eating sweet snacks and drinking wine.

Others mingled in the shadows, spreading dark secrets and plotting with each other.

Adal stood there by the entrance for a mont, not sure of what move to take.

Then, a voice called out to him.

"Adal!"

He turned towards the voice and found a woman sitting alone by a chair, reading a book.

She was dressed modestly, and her long green hair had been decorated with jewels of all kinds.

Many others seed to be looking at her with confusion on their faces, and Adal almost did the sa.

"Penelope?" He said, making his way over.

The woman hardly seed the sa as she had before.

She flashed him a smile and fluttered her green eyes at him.

"Adal, you look like you’ve just seen a ghost." She said in a soft tone.

It feels like I have...

Adal didn’t sit with her. He remained standing.

"I just was not expecting to find you here, alone." He responded.

Penelope laughed.

"You would not have found here at all. Ever since our... encounter, I’ve only wanted to stay at ho and dive into the world of books. I was ant to co to you soon, but I was waiting until I finished this book so that you could give another recomndation."

Everything about Penelope seed different.

The whore that he had once known seed completely different.

Usually, he suspected that she would be trying to earn the attention of the n around her.

Or at least gossiping with her fellow ladies.

Yet here she was, sitting by a table, alone, reading...

It still wasn’t enough for Adal to see her as a respectable woman, but it was a step in the right direction. A step towards redemption.

Adal reached into his box and pulled out one of his novels.

He handed it to her afterwards.

She looked at it with a raised brow.

"I would like you to give this to your father, and tell him that it was a gift from an Adal Alexandrus."

"I... I do not think he will know your na." She said, surprisingly kind.

Adal laughed.

"I know. Not yet."

Afterwards, he had to leave the woman alone, as another voice had called out to him.

This voice belonged to Rupert Grey. The virgin whom Penelope had once tried to try and make him jealous.

The lad was sitting at a table filled with handso n and beautiful won.

As he approached they all turned their attention towards him.

"Ladies and gentlen, this here is Adal Alexandrus, the librarian. If you ever want to lose yourself in a novel, go to him! He has a recomndation for everybody."

The n and won whispered and laughed amongst themselves like he wasn’t there.

"Reading? Nobody reads anymore, except for the scholars." Another young man guffawed.

Adal recognised him as the son of the temple bishop, which ant that he had great power within the theocracy.

His na was Adam Kruger.

Adal didn’t say anything and instead handed him a book.

The man, and others looked at it with confusion.

"Hang on a mont," Adam mused. "This says it was written by you?"

Adal laughed.

"If you can read it, and swear on the Holy Mother’s life that you did not enjoy it, I will give you ten notes and recompensation for your wasted ti."

"..."

Silence hung in the air for a mont, then eventually, laughter broke out.

Not mocking laughter, but rather laughter of surprise.

If Adal wanted to stand out, he knew it was important for him to be daring.

Adam Kruger pointed at him and continued laughing.

"Do you even have ten notes to your na, Librarian? That is hardly a lucrative profession."

No, I do not.

"Yes, I do. Visit in my library once you are disappointed with my story, and they will be yours to keep."

More laughs spread throughout the table.

"I like you, librarian. You are brave." Another man said. "Sit with us?"

Adal would have taken up the offer, but he couldn’t.

After all, another table had caught his eye.

Well, rather a certain woman at the table.

She was eyeing him carefully, despite being seated with her husband.

Her dark eyes were seductive, as if insisting that he stare at the generous amount of cleavage shown by her golden dress.

Her cheeks were flushed rose, clearly from the wine, and her thick legs were crossed maturely.

It was Juliette Everstone, and her thoughts were telling him that she wanted to be fucked in the bathroom right at that mont.
