[Congratulations on reaching Level 20!]
[You have now unlocked the Map!]
When Adal opened the smartphone, he was t with the exciting notification. He didn’t waste any ti navigating his way over to the newly unlocked section of the Earth artefact.
Once there, as the na suggested, a giant map sprawled out in front of him.
It first showed him exactly where he was in the world, with the nurous nad locations surrounding him. At the mont, it showed that he was in the Iglantis Palace. Once he zood out, more of the Iglantis Kingdom was shown to him. He could see nurous establishnts within the kingdom, such as castles, churches, and even small houses and roads.
Adal zood out further.
To the south, he could see the Torn Kingdom and all of its greatness. Further south, he could see the Glassborn Kingdom, which was a land he had not yet explored fully. However, the map still presented him with all the locations within the area, such as Sunrise City, which was the kingdom’s capital.
North of his current location, he could see the Icefall Kingdom owned by the snow elves. It was a small kingdom, covered in complete snow and ice, which he could see from the colours shown to him on the map.
To his east, Adal saw the Coalition of Orcs and the nurous cities they owned. To the west, he could see the Rockhart Kingdom, located in the mountain ranges.
Scattered around these nurous places, he could see the nas and settlents owned by nurous factions, such as the Green Tribe of the goblins.
He zood out further, and written in large text over the entirety of these lands were the words Mainland. Then, he zood out even further.
That was when he saw it: the Outerland.
Surrounding the Mainland was a thick block of fog that even the map couldn’t see through. It was nad the Underworld Fog, and it was easily as thick as a small country. If one wanted to make it out of the Mainland, no matter where they attempted to exit through, they would have to travel through kilotres of the Underworld Fog. This was why the Outerland was an unknown land to those of the Mainland. No one who left ever returned, so it had been centuries since they stopped trying.
However, Adal could see past the Underworld Fog with his map. He could see the glorious land that lay on the other side.
It was at least a hundred tis the size of the Mainland and surrounded the Mainland like a ring.
Adal saw nurous kingdoms and even empires. He saw small tribes and factions. He saw fantastical lands and zones clearly inhabited by dangerous foreign creatures.
He saw everything.
It was too much for his mind to comprehend.
He left the map, turned off his smartphone for a few monts, and took a few deep breaths.
Then, a smile spread across his face.
The greater world of Boen is much larger than I could have ever imagined.
It made sense, considering Boen was a planet like Earth was. However, since the Mainland only ever spoke about the Mainland, it was hard to imagine that an entire world existed beyond it.
Adal’s mind filled with various thoughts. He wondered what it would be like to explore the Outerland. He wondered what sort of races and animals existed out there. He wondered what wars were being fought and which rulers were being slain.
He wondered what the won would be like.
...
He ca to a decision then.
He would soday reach the Outerland and establish his library in its various kingdoms. First, though, he needed to finish business up in the Mainland.
Of the many kingdoms that were trying to take over the Mainland, it was the sun elves who Adal was currently most allied with. Therefore, he decided that he would continue helping them in taking over the world.
They were awfully close. All they had to do was gather the forces required to finish taking over the snow elves, and then they could take over the dwarves and orcs if they wished to fight back.
As for the Iglantians... it was up to Adal to make sure they surrendered to the sun elves.
"Mhmmm..."
Princess Opal finally woke up from her sleep.
~~~
After helping the woman out of the bath, Adal made her a new one so that she could clean herself of their fluids.
Once done with her bath, she made her way out into her bedroom, where Adal waited for her on her bed.
First, she wondered if it was ti for round two, but the serious look on Adal’s face told her otherwise.
He gestured to the space on the bed next to him. Dressed in only her bath robe, she sat beside him.
"Princess, it’s important that you tell your father’s thoughts. Does he plan to go to war with the sun elves?" He asked the question he had waited for.
Opal shook her head.
"No, father knows that he cannot win that battle. The sun elves are a powerful race, even stronger than ours. However, he will not just allow them to take over the Mainland without earning sothing for himself."
Adal’s brow raised.
"What does he wish for?"
"He would like control over the land of the snow elves, north of ours. He would provide forces to help take them over, so long as he was made king of their land, the sa way how the sun elf King Calithor had made himself king of the human lands."
It was a fair trade and made sense in many ways. The Iglantians were closest to the snow elves, so it would require less effort for them to enter the Icefall Kingdom and take control of it.
If the sun elves allowed this, it would allow the two races of elves to hold an equal amount of land in the Mainland. Later on, one of them could take over the dwarf lands, whilst the other takes over the orc lands.
If everything worked out, then Adal saw the future of the Mainland.
It was a place that he would feel comfortable in.
