The children who received the honey dispersed, running to the side to happily eat.
Gu Nian gathered around Lin Sanshui, watching them handle the honeycomb and asked, "Dad, is there a queen bee in the honeycomb? Where is the queen bee?"
Gu Nian had a simple thought. If she could find a queen bee and put it in the space, then the space would never run out of honey to eat.
Lin Sanshui, however, laughed heartily and said, "The queen bee hasn’t been brought back; it’s still on the tree. With the queen bee there, and a large chunk of the brood that hasn’t co out yet, those bees will certainly rebuild the hive. After a while, we can take another look, and maybe collect again."
Gu Nian: "..."
Isn’t this just like harvesting chives?
Gu Nian couldn’t help but silently mourn for those bees. Not only was their ho taken, their new ho hadn’t even begun construction before getting targeted again.
"Third Brother, there can be a lot of honey produced from this. What are you planning to do with it?" Lin Shui asked.
"Let’s clean it up first and keep a little for ourselves. The rest will be taken to town; it should sell very well." Lin Sanshui said with a beaming smile, already calculating in his mind how much silver they could make.
There aren’t many houses at ho. He plans to sell it to leave a portion for Gu Nian, and with the ten taels of silver at ho plus so saved up from before, it’s enough to build two rooms.
Dahu isn’t young anymore, and Erhu is right behind. Plus, with Gu Nian joining, housing is a big problem that needs solving.
However, he didn’t ntion his plan to build a house.
"Niannian, co here for a mont," Mrs. Jiang called at the kitchen door.
"Coming!" Gu Nian quickly responded, getting up and running over, "Mom, what do you need?"
Mrs. Jiang had already gone inside and pointed at the basin being cooled in the water basin and asked, "Is this what you made with pea flour? Why didn’t you add so salt? It doesn’t taste good without flavor!"
However, she couldn’t deny that eating this in the sumr, with its cool texture, was quite nice.
Gu Nian suddenly rembered her jelly noodles.
She pressed her index finger on the jelly noodles; the bouncy texture indicated it was successfully made.
"Mom, it doesn’t need salt. I’ll prepare the seasoning later. We’ll have cold jelly noodles for dinner, I guarantee it will be delicious," Gu Nian said.
Mrs. Jiang’s eyes instantly lit up.
She had tasted it earlier and only felt it was flavorless, forgetting that it can be eaten as a salad!
Sumr is perfect for salads, and with this jelly noodle’s cool taste, it’s bound to be delicious.
She also rembered Gu Nian once ntioned that once she made this, it could solve the family’s livelihood problems, and Mrs. Jiang instantly understood her aning.
Peas aren’t expensive, and if this were taken out to sell for two or three coins a bowl, it could indeed earn quite a bit.
Inside the house, Erhu listened to the laughter outside. Though he was the one injured and supposed to be cared for, he felt more like a forgotten little pity.
He heard that his dad and uncles brought back a lot of honeycombs, and he also heard his dad say he would share them with the children. But after waiting for a long ti, why hasn’t anyone brought him so?
He’s only twelve, still just a kid!
In his anger, Erhu forgot he was still injured, turned over, and sat up from the bed.
"Dad, Mom, you’re too much. Am I really your biological son?" After just two days back, this was Lin Erhu’s second heartfelt inquiry.
"Erhu, why are you up?" Lin Sanshui turned his head, just in ti to see him angrily standing there.
Lin Sanshui frowned and asked, "Weren’t you so pained yesterday you couldn’t even walk, requiring to carry you to the restroom? Why, after one night, are your injuries healed?"
