Chapter 35: Chapter 35 Sending Cattle to Discuss Business_1 Chapter 35: Chapter 35 Sending Cattle to Discuss Business_1 The morning after, having finished breakfast, Yang ngchen and her family went to the wasteland where the villagers, who had arrived early, were busily tending to their tasks.
After looking around, Yang ngchen found everything to her satisfaction, as it all t her requirents.
“Ninth Sister Yang, we’ve decided to take on this job, but when can we sign the contract with Doctor Luo?” Zhao Chunping and Zhao Xiaodong approached Yang ngchen.
“Let’s do it now.”
Just as Yang ngchen was about to call her second and fourth brothers, with her eldest brother staying at ho in a foul mood, she saw a middle-aged man arrive with two horse-drawn carts driven by an employee from Apricot Forest Hall, Du Zhong, and behind them, two others were herding a group of cattle.
All work stopped as everyone curiously watched, eyes wide open.
Descending from the horse cart, the middle-aged man approached Yang ngchen.
He had recently been to The Capital to visit his ailing mother and had just returned yesterday when he heard his colleagues discussing a farm girl nad Yang ngchen. The master spoke of the young lady with pride and affection. Having served the master for so many years, it was the first ti he had seen his master take such interest in soone, and naturally, he was filled with curiosity about the young girl.
Now that he had seen her, with her clear, tranquil features and her pure, bright eyes, she emanated a gentle and elegant aura, presenting a refreshingly comfortable impression to onlookers. No wonder the master held her in such esteem; even he took an imdiate liking to her.
With a smile, the middle-aged man said, “Ms. Yang, my na is Luo, and I’m the shopkeeper of Apricot Forest Hall. I’m here under the orders of our master to deliver twenty head of cattle for the land clearing and entrust them to the Yang family for care. The cattle have already been registered with the Governnt Office, and if anyone dares to target them, they will be severely punished without leniency!”
His voice was neither too loud nor too soft, yet audible enough for everyone to hear clearly. The honest villagers were happy for the Yang family, and those harboring ill intentions fell silent.
Yang ngchen smiled slightly, “Shopkeeper Luo, you have been through a lot of trouble; we will certainly take good care of these cattle.”
The day before, she had asked Uncle Luo to help her buy a few cattle, but she never expected that today twenty would be delivered.
As for Shopkeeper Luo’s declaration, it was sothing they had discussed the day before since cattle were valuable and likely to arouse envy.
“It’s no trouble,” Shopkeeper Luo responded with a smile. “The master also said he is very fond of you, Ms. Yang, and hopes that you will visit him often in town. He is concerned about the inconvenience of travel, so he sent to deliver a horse cart for you, Ms. Yang. Additionally, he has arranged for Du Zhong to drive for you until you find soone suitable, after which Du Zhong will return to Apricot Forest Hall. For now, he will stay with the Yang family and await your orders.”
The crowd murmured quietly amongst themselves, noting how good Doctor Luo was to Ninth Sister Yang.
“I am grateful for Uncle Luo’s kindness and concern. As it happens, I need to go to town, so Shopkeeper Luo, please join us.”
After summoning her grandparents to receive the twenty head of cattle, Yang ngchen, accompanied by her second and fourth brothers, as well as the Zhao father and son, rode in the horse cart toward the town.
Upon learning of Yang ngchen’s arrival, Doctor Luo hurried over from the back courtyard, grabbed her wrist in his eagerness and delight that was hard to conceal, “Girl, the pills you made yesterday worked very well, they sold out as soon as they hit the counter. Co, make more dicine with your uncle today, we’ll make extra.”
“Uncle Luo, please wait a mont.” Yang ngchen held back Doctor Luo and looked up at Luo Jingrui standing on the second floor, “Young Master Luo, these are Zhao Chunping and his son from our village, they’ve co to sign the contract with you.”
“Shopkeeper Luo, bring them up, and Ms. Yang, co as well,” Luo Jingrui turned and went back into his room.
As it was their first ti eting soone of such high social status, particularly with Young Master Luo displaying an air of noble aloofness, Zhao Chunping and his son were extrely apprehensive and tense, “Ninth Sister…”
Yang ngchen soothed Zhao Chunping and his son in a gentle voice, “Young Master Luo is a good man; he won’t make things difficult for you, especially since I’m also here.”
“Yes, with the young lady here, you won’t suffer any losses,” Doctor Luo nodded in agreent.
Upon reaching the second floor room, Yang ngchen took out two prepared contracts for Luo Jingrui, having already discussed the terms and prices with him the day before, and on the way over in the carriage, she had also explained the contents of the contract to Zhao Chunping and his son clause by clause.
After examining the contracts carefully and finding no discrepancies with their discussion, Luo Jingrui signed his na and stamped his seal before handing them to Yang ngchen.
Knowing that Zhao Chunping and his son were illiterate, Yang ngchen wrote down Zhao Chunping’s na in neat characters on a piece of paper beside them. Then, beckoning them over, she handed Zhao Chunping the brush and had him copy the model to sign his na.
Never having expected Ms. Yang to be so protective and considerate of the villagers, even in such minor matters, Luo Jingrui silently nodded in approval.
The Zhao father and son were both moved and grateful.
After securing the contracts and receiving the one hundred taels of earnest money from Luo Jingrui, the Zhao father and son bowed deeply to Doctor Luo, “Thank you, Doctor Luo, for giving us such good work, and even teaching us the secret skills of firing colored patterns. We have no way to repay you, but we will do our best to make the dicine bottles as a return for Doctor Luo’s kindness.”
“Uh?” Doctor Luo was taken aback, about to say he didn’t have any secret skills in firing colored patterns, but catching Yang ngchen’s aningful glance, his words took a quick turn, “Such trifles are not worth ntioning. If you should thank anyone, it should be the young lady. Had she not strongly recomnded you, we wouldn’t have chosen to cooperate with you.”
“Of course, we will never forget Doctor Luo’s great kindness, nor Ninth Sister Yang’s good intentions,” the Zhao father and son said with tearful gratitude.
Watching Yang ngchen, whose face was adorned with a smile, a glint of sharpness crossed the ink-dark depths of Luo Jingrui’s eyes.
It was clearly she who had done the Zhao family a favor, yet she made it seem like the Zhao family rembered her father’s kindness. It was no wonder her father cherished her so much, always looking out for his behalf.
Having arranged for her brothers to accompany Zhao Chunping and his son to buy so necessary materials, Yang ngchen followed Doctor Luo to the backyard to make pills.
Approaching noon, Yang ngchen went to prepare lunch, and when she, Shopkeeper Luo, and a few others brought in over twenty dishes into the dining room, Yang Chengning and the others had just returned. Surprisingly, Nangong Lingfei was seated next to Luo Jingrui.
Yang ngchen slightly furrowed her brow.
Having devised three kinds of warming tonics for Luo Jingrui just yesterday, one would expect that Nangong Lingfei, caring so much for Ziyu, would personally and promptly deliver the pills back to the Capital. What was he doing here?
Completely oblivious to Yang ngchen’s puzzled look, Nangong Lingfei’s attention was entirely on the table full of fragrant dishes. He didn’t even bother to consider the taste – the appearance alone was appetizing enough, and there were even several dishes he had never seen before. Jingrui truly hadn’t exaggerated.
After the al, Nangong Lingfei looked at Yang ngchen and spoke unhurriedly, “Ms. Yang, I would like to buy these recipes from you, offering thirty taels for each recipe. Would you be willing?”
Yang Chengning and Yang Chengyou remained unperturbed.
anwhile, Zhao Chunping and his son were shocked. Ninth Sister Yang’s cooking was indeed very tasty, but surely it wasn’t worth that much?
“Young Master Nangong, I am not opposed to selling the recipes; however,” Yang ngchen said calmly, “I’d like to propose a business deal to you.”
“Let’s hear it.”
