Chapter 50: Chapter 46: Sun King’s Golden Skeleton

Their "True Words" session ca to an end.

The man in the Gargoyle Mask departed in a hurry.

Zorn collected his share of the Giant Glutton’s Stomach and returned to his seat.

The exchange et for the Transcendents continued.

Zorn stood in the crowd, his eyes narrowed slightly.

’Key intelligence can often fetch a hefty price.’

And this ti, providing the standard procedure for a Giant Glutton’s Stomach had earned Zorn at least 1,200

gold pounds.

’That’s right.’

’This Giant Glutton’s Stomach is worth at least 1,200

gold pounds.’

’Once the powerful effects of the Giant Glutton’s Stomach are gradually uncovered, you might not be able to buy one even for 2,000

gold pounds.’

’It can consu at least a week’s worth of food in a single al.’

’Once it’s been nurtured and grown, it can eat ten days’ worth of food in one sitting without any issue.’

’It’s all about that monstrous appetite.’

’On top of that, it allows one to actively control the digestion speed of food, drastically increasing the efficiency of growth-type Abilities.’

’For the Fighting Master Sequence, it can provide an extra boost to strength.’

’For the Evil Spirit Wizard Sequence, it can accelerate the rate at which Life Tenacity is gained from food.’

’Aside from its tendency to eat itself when starving, the Giant Glutton’s Stomach has almost no side effects.’

’For real... When it gets hungry enough, it will even eat itself!’

The exchange et among the Transcendents proceeded steadily.

One after another, Transcendents presented valuable items.

When sothing he needed appeared, Zorn would also make a few bids.

Most items were in the hundreds, ranging from three to five hundred gold pounds. Items costing over a thousand gold pounds were extrely rare.

Even so, Zorn spent 600 gold pounds to purchase five useful materials he needed.

As the et continued and drew to a close, Zorn still hadn’t seen the item from his mories appear.

’Don’t tell

I’ve hit that extrely low probability?’

Zorn, in a corner of the crowd, quietly mulled things over as he stroked the handle of his briefcase.

’Although that treasure was highly likely to appear at the first Transcendent et after the Rat Plague, there was still a small chance it wouldn’t show up.’

Ti ticked by, and so Transcendents had already begun to leave.

Just then, a man in a gray hooded robe and a mask with wooden carvings walked onto the stage.

From his monster briefcase, he took out a slender ceramic jar roughly the height of his forearm.

The mont he saw the slender ceramic jar, Zorn’s pupils constricted slightly.

’It’s here!’

The slender ceramic jar, about two feet tall, was covered in dense and complex ancient script.

Zorn, who was familiar with such matters, recognized it at a glance. The script was from the funerary culture of the Krug Plateau Empire, expressing reverence and praise for a great being.

’And this was the treasure I’ve been waiting for.’

"COUGH COUGH..."

The man in the mask with wooden carvings coughed violently as he took out the slender ceramic jar.

When he set the jar down, the coughing ceased.

"Everyone, this is a peculiar item my friend unearthed while exploring ancient catacombs on the Saint Jia’en Misty Plateau."

"Touching it causes violent coughing. Even wearing gloves only lessens the effect."

"Placing it inside a Monster Treasure Chest significantly improves the blocking effect."

The man’s explanation piqued the interest of many in the audience.

"Is it a Forbidden Sealed Object?"

The question from the audience stoked everyone’s curiosity.

"I’m not sure, because this ceramic jar—I don’t even know what it’s made of—simply won’t open."

Won’t open? The crowd’s curiosity grew even stronger.

The man explained earnestly.

"I’ve tried everything: hitting it, smashing it, setting it on fire, and even throwing it off a cliff over a hundred ters high."

"But no matter what, the ceramic jar just can’t be opened."

"Its peculiar property of causing anyone who touches it to cough proves it’s no ordinary object."

"If anyone doubts , feel free to co up and try it for yourself."

A few Transcendents quickly went up to try.

Just as the man in the carved mask had said, touching it caused them to cough violently.

After several people had verified his claim, the man in the carved mask stated his price.

"500 gold pounds."

When he announced the price, the entire hall fell silent. For a mont, no one was willing to pay that much for a strange, cough-inducing object.

gold pounds was not a cheap price.

After all, no one knew if it truly contained an unbelievable Forbidden Sealed Object.

For all they knew, it could be so sort of terrifying contaminant.

Everyone here was a Transcendent; they all understood the risks.

And even if it did contain a powerful Forbidden Sealed Object, it was useless if it couldn’t be opened.

After calling out twice more with no response, the man in the carved mask shook his head in resignation.

"If anyone is interested, feel free to make an offer!"

After waiting a mont, Zorn, who was in the crowd, raised his hand. His voice rang out, calm and asured.

"200 gold pounds."

Before anyone else could react, the man in the carved mask shouted, "Sold!" He sealed the deal with Zorn with incredible speed.

It was as if he was afraid Zorn would go back on his word.

Zorn tugged the brim of his hat down, picked up his briefcase, and stood. He walked toward the man in the carved mask, who was coming down from the stage.

In a corner, Zorn paid with 200 gold pounds in banknotes.

He took the slender ceramic jar into his hands.

Sure enough, the mont he touched it, an uncontrollable coughing fit began.

Zorn quickly stowed it away in his monster briefcase.

With the transaction complete, the man in the carved mask turned and walked out of the venue.

Zorn glanced at the crowd, then also picked up his briefcase and headed for the exit.

Now that he had the top-tier treasure in his possession, it was ti for Zorn to leave.

As Zorn left, two people in a corner exchanged a look and tacitly rose to their feet.

...

Zorn let out a soft breath as he walked through the underground passage.

’This ti, I brought a full 6,800 gold pounds of Magic Gold.’

’It was mainly to prevent anyone from competing with

for the Sun King’s Golden Skeleton.’

’After all, this treasure is one of a kind. Its value is even greater than what I stole and sacrificed at the docks last ti.’

’But in the end, there were no surprises. I got the Sun King’s Golden Skeleton for a re 200 gold pounds.’

’The Krug Plateau Empire, with its glorious ancient civilization, worshiped the Upper Rankers and consorted with Demons. They blasphed the Divine Spirits in an attempt to establish a Divine Kingdom of the Human World, all to obtain imnse power and long life.’

’In the end, when the empire suffered the backlash, they prayed to the Divine Spirits, but their prayers were answered only by the gaze and devastation of an Evil God.’

’The final emperor of that false Divine Kingdom, the Sun King, digested the Evil God’s flesh and bone, fused the powers of three Upper Rankers, and created his own Golden Sun.’

’His attempt to steal the power of the Divine Spirits led to his eventual downfall.’

’But this final emperor was so powerful that even after his Death, his skeleton had to be dismbered, sealed, and buried in various locations.’

’And the sealed bone I now hold is one of those pieces.’

’The flesh he devoured included a part of Lord Egunus.’

’This is also why I can make perfect use of this piece of bone.’

’200 gold pounds for the Sun King’s Golden Skeleton.’

’600 gold pounds for five good materials.’

’Then there’s the paynt to the Craftsmanship Master, about 240 gold pounds in total.’

’On top of that, I traded a piece of intel for the amazing resource that is the Giant Glutton’s Stomach.’

’This trip’s haul was pretty substantial.’

’It’s just... there’s one small problem.’

As he walked on, Zorn left the Transcendents’ eting place and entered a dark, shadowy alley.

A hazy shadow flickered in and out of existence in front of him.

Behind him, a burly Warrior shrouded in darkness blocked his path of retreat.

The wealth Zorn had displayed at the Transcendent et had tempted certain individuals.

’A Level Two Assassin and a Level One Warrior.’

’Both are troubleso Sequences at a Low Level.’

If the ti and place were right, Zorn wouldn’t mind engaging them in a manly brawl.

It would be a good way to advance his adaptation and growth in the Fighting Master Sequence, as well as solidify his Evil Spirit Wizard abilities.

But this was clearly not the right place for that.

Zorn, having long since detected his pursuers, had already secretly ford the Evil Spirit Wizard’s Forbidden Technique: the Scythe of the End.

As the Scythe of the End blood...

RUSTLE...

It was like a refreshing midsumr breeze rippling across a glittering lake.

A silent, formless wind suddenly swept through the quiet sumr alley.

Zorn’s form flickered in the wind.

The stealthed Assassin, poised to strike, and the Warrior, who was cracking his knuckles...

They sensed sothing, but by the ti they tried to react, it was already too late.

SLICE~~ SLICE~~

Amidst the storm of scythe blades, a crisp sound rose and fell. Both n collapsed, their heads severed from their bodies.

Their bodies and heads hit the ground, then bizarrely sank into it, only to float back to the surface.

The solid earth rippled like water, with the two corpses bobbing within it.

The walls now resembled shimring curtains of water, reflecting Zorn’s blurred figure.

As a Forbidden Technique from a World-level boss, the power of the Scythe of the End was clearly off the charts.

A single cast not only produced an incredibly stealthy slicing attack, but it could also channel the Eternal Covering Soil to affect reality and bury his enemies.

The more powerful a Forbidden Curse Magic like this is, the more often one must use it.

By using it, one can deeply comprehend the Extraordinary Magic and make it a part of oneself, thereby promoting its growth.

After using the effects of the Eternal Covering Soil to dispose of the bodies, Zorn waited for a mont at an intersection and hailed a carriage.

"To Adolf Monastery."

"Honored guest, that place is..."

Having been there a few tis already, Zorn could recite what the driver was about to say.

Zorn simply pulled a banknote with a 5 Silver Dragon Face Value from the Assassin’s black leather folding wallet and passed it through the small window at the front.

"There’s the sa again for the return trip."

Zorn’s bonus paynt made the driver profoundly aware of the error of his ways. He spurred the horses on at once; to hesitate for even a second would be a sign of disrespect to the Silver Dragon printed on the banknote.
