Chapter 104: Chapter 35: Tide-Rider of the Era
Ogrande City.
A great battle in Ogrande City between the mighty[Holy Fierce Sun Church]and the[Sun Church]—an Evil God church whose mbers worshiped an Evil God, their souls polluted and their humanity lost.
It had caused considerable damage to the Bay Area.
Trade at the Bay Area Pier was even halted for two days.
Many of the aristocrats’ clubs were affected to so extent.
After all, the Golden Palm Beach Club itself had been a nest for the Evil God Organization.
Quite a few aristocratic clubs ca under investigation to varying degrees.
All were impacted in one way or another.
After brewing for three days, news of the great battle in Ogrande City between the Church and the Evil God Organization began to spread rapidly across the Holy Land Continent and the vast oceans, thanks to reports in the steam dailies.
Ogrande City, the Steam City of the Northern Border Region, once again beca the focus of all the major powers on the Holy Land Continent.
From the newspapers’ specific praise for the Ogrande City Church’s actions and their promotion of the great "Golden Sun," Zorn could deduce sothing. The "Golden Sun," which had been raised through a ritual, was a thod the Church had specifically used to inscribe a Sacred Mark.
The purpose, naturally, was to eliminate the latent influence of the[Crying Blood Sun].
Even if the Sun Church were to reignite the[Crying Blood Sun]in the future, it would not create a truly terrifying Immortal Sacred Mark.
Early one morning.
While enjoying his breakfast, Zorn’s gaze suddenly shot toward the location of the[Evil Spirit Calamity]at the border of the Fog Zone and the Old Town District.
He saw that the thick, dark clouds of death and calamity, which had been firmly entrenched there for the past one or two months, were now gradually dissipating.
Seizing the opportunity to strike at the Sun Church, the[Holy Fierce Sun Church]was now moving to wipe out the[Evil Spirit Calamity]as well.
’The Holy Fierce Sun Church is really sparing no effort to prolong its own life!’
Zorn took a sip of rich at broth and then chuckled softly.
’But... having it last this long is more than enough.’
’The Calamity Boundary Land has already taken shape, and its anchor point is now fixed within the epic of Ogrande City.’
’The eradication of the[Evil Spirit Calamity]won’t affect the existence of the Immortal Calamity Sacred Mark.’
As he pondered, Zorn focused his perception on his own "Immortal Calamity Sacred Mark."
’The[Immortal Sacred Mark]component makes up about a third of the entire Sacred Mark.’
’The outer two-thirds is a conventional Sacred Mark.’
’But to maintain the eternal existence of that one-third Immortal Sacred Mark, I must preserve the outer two-thirds of the conventional Sacred Mark.’
’Under the influence of the Immortal Sacred Mark, the outer two-thirds also possesses a characteristic of immortality. It won’t decay, making it a pseudo-Immortal Sacred Mark.’
’Overall, I can’t afford to use up this Calamity Sacred Mark. I’ll let it remain permanently anchored here to serve as my anchor point—my respawn point—and continuously help
leverage the Calamity Black Mist.’
With the weakening, and eventual demise, of the[Rat Plague]in the world below the sewers, the underground ritual could no longer help Zorn leverage the Calamity Black Mist.
Now, Zorn had to rely on the Sun King’s Golden Skeleton and the Calamity Sacred Mark to do so.
The previous Sacred Mark from the Evil Spirit Notification Ceremony could also leverage it to a small degree, but Zorn had already used it up completely.
’To inscribe different Sacred Marks within the epic, there needs to be a separation in both ti and space.’
’For the next Evil Spirit Calamity involving the[Evil Spirit Divine Mage], I’ll need to carefully consider the location and the target to be sacrificed.’
’Having the[Evil Spirit Divine Mage]seek revenge against the Holy Fierce Sun Church is undoubtedly an excellent direction to take.’
’It’s just that...’
Zorn gently rubbed his palm.
’Controlling the Evil Spirit Divine Mage is proving more difficult than I imagined.’
’The flesh of the Evil God Egunus is really sothing else.’
’However, once I gain perfect control over this fellow, I can pry a lot of important information about resources from him.’
’For example, the hidden location of the Sun King’s Golden Skeleton.’
’Also, the[Evil Spirit Divine Mage]’s recovery rate is a bit slow. But there’s no hurry. While nurturing it with the Calamity Black Mist, I’ll just let it eat more rats, and it will slowly recover.’
That night.
Before the Lantern-carrying Elder departed, he used his Lantern to take a portion of the Calamity Black Mist with him.
The four Guardians among Zorn’s Lower Ranks were unable to leverage the Calamity Black Mist themselves.
However, they could effectively refine, absorb, and use it.
Zorn gifted them the Calamity Black Mist so they could more effectively unleash their own power.
For example.
Take Vanessa, the[rciful Witch], who had the advantage of proximity.
Whenever she had a free mont, she would secretly draw on Zorn’s Calamity Black Mist to refine and absorb it.
She thought she was being very discreet, but Zorn could clearly sense every wisp of Black Mist she drew away.
Late August.
The war between the Holy Fierce Sun and the Sun Secret Cult escalated in the Ostanton Republic.
It wasn’t just Ostanton’s dedicated newspaper reporters who were following the Church Knight Order to cover the war.
Even the Saintisman Steam Daily dedicated a portion of its pages to special reports.
In a castle manor deep within the gray mists, Knight Orders annihilated conspiring mbers of the Sun Church.
In a bustling comrcial steam town, Law Enforcers hunted down mbers of the Sun Church.
In a manor within Ogrande City, the city council arrested aristocrats involved with the Evil God Organization, confiscated their assets, and then had the Church burn them at the stake.
Throughout the latter half of August.
