Chapter 1891: Chapter 1887: Yield to Softness, Not Hardness

“What’s wrong?” the Mirror Fiend hastily asked.

As soon as she spoke, Shen Luo grabbed her by the collar, and with a swift movent, he pulled her from behind the large stone into the thick fog.

Just as they moved, a black blade light shot through, not with a ferocious chopping montum but like a long sword thrust, suddenly piercing through the giant stone.

If Shen Luo hadn’t acted quickly, that strike would have pierced the Mirror Fiend through and through.

Concealed in the thick fog, the three of them didn’t rush to flee, nor did they rashly head into the foggy area again. Instead, they found another hidden spot, intending to continue their ambush.

“What happened?” The Mirror Fiend, still unsettled, asked suspiciously.

“Yuan Qiu didn’t make it clear earlier. When the Gu insect dies, it releases slight spiritual power fluctuations, alarming those people,” Shen Luo said, cautiously guarding the surroundings with a frown.

“Such a tiny fluctuation shouldn’t be detectable, right? We’re almost within the fog range and shouldn’t be discovered,” the Mirror Fiend hesitated.

“They must have placed so detection magical instrunts outside the square. With the fog concealing us, as long as we suppress our spiritual power fluctuations, we won’t be discovered, but any spill of power will alert them,” Nie Caizhu speculated.

“Indeed, if it were , I would also set up detection thods in the fog,” Shen Luo nodded in agreent.

“Should we continue waiting for Daoist Ao Hong and their group?” the Mirror Fiend inquired.

“Yes, we’re in the shadows, they’re in the light. I don’t think they’d risk searching for us in the fog,” Shen Luo replied.

The Mirror Fiend was sowhat relieved upon hearing there wouldn’t be an imdiate confrontation.

But at that mont, an unexpected change occurred!

Suddenly, underfoot, a golden light appeared simultaneously for the three of them, transforming into a bright golden beam shooting into the high altitude.

“This is not good,”

Just as Shen Luo uttered this, over a dozen figures quickly surrounded them from all directions, encircling the three of them in the center.

Within the fog, mbers of the Demon Alliance gradually erged.

In the center, one person holding a Jade Glow Staff, which appeared like colored glaze, struck it against the ground with a resounding “thud.” A powerful aura erupted from the staff, and an overwhelming icy Qi spread out instantly, transforming into an invisible frost wind wall, repelling the surrounding fog.

As the fog dispersed, an area nearly a hundred feet in diater erged, revealing rugged strange stones and the ground covered in a layer of white frost, with streams of white cold air spilling out.

Shen Luo glanced down at his and Nie Caizhu’s hems, where a thin, transparent scale from Jin Jian was attached.

The Mirror Fiend lifted her foot to discover a similar scale stuck on her as well, quickly brushing it off. This was precisely what had exposed them.

Furious, the Demon Alliance mbers glared at Shen Luo, murderous intent evident, eager to slay him.

Bai Chuan, however, raised a hand, halting everyone’s actions.

“Daoist Shen, I see you are a talented individual and have so admiration for you. Though there have been so unpleasant incidents between you and our Demon Alliance, there’s no deep hatred that warrants a life-and-death fight, don’t you think?” Bai Chuan asked.

Shen Luo cast a peculiar glance at Jin Jian and You Xiong Kun, smiling as he said, “Alliance Chief Bai speaks truly.”

Earlier, he nearly killed Jin Jian and thwarted You Xiong Kun’s plan to attack Daughter Village. Saying there was no deep hatred would surely be unacceptable to the two of them.

However, with Bai Chuan’s words, Jin Jian and You Xiong Kun, although looking unfriendly, remained silent.

Lu Xiu, on the other hand, was quite dissatisfied, saying angrily, “Daoist Bai, what do you an by this?”

“Nothing much, just not wanting to engage in a futile struggle. We can’t be sure of breaching this Golden Light Array yet, nor have we entered Baoshan, so why fight to the death outside the mountain?” Bai Chuan replied, glancing at him.

“Don’t forget, you’ve allied with us,” the typically silent Tu Hunzhu stated.

“My aim in allying with you was for Beiming Kun, not to help you kill,” Bai Chuan replied flatly.

“Daoist Bai is a wise man. These Demon Clan mbers aren’t good ilk, and likely haven’t told you their true purpose here,” Shen Luo said with a smile.

“Oh? Please enlighten , Daoist Shen,” Bai Chuan raised an eyebrow.

“Well… Daoist Bai should ask them yourselves,” Shen Luo said with a smile.

“Daoist Shen, there’s no need for words of incitent. I don’t care much about their true intentions, as long as it doesn’t affect my alliance. I sincerely invite you to join our Demon Alliance. If you agree, you’ll stand second only to within the alliance. How about it?” Bai Chuan said, fingers caressing the handle of the Jade Glow Staff.

“Could Daoist Bai ask your subordinates to retreat for a mont to allow us to discuss?” Shen Luo hesitated slightly, then said.

Upon hearing this, Bai Chuan frowned, “Daoist Shen, my goodwill has been ample. We are all smart people; don’t take for a fool. You may not realize it, but you’re not really in a position to make a choice.”

“First luring with interest, then threats. The sincerity of your Demon Alliance is indeed overwhelming. But unfortunately, I, Shen Luo, have always responded better to soft tactics than hard ones. Alliance Chief Bai’s efforts are likely in vain,” Shen Luo said with a smile.

As he spoke, the Hongming War Saber was already in his hand.

“Refusing a toast only to be forced to drink,” Bai Chuan snorted coldly.

As he finished speaking, he suddenly swung his sleeve. A white light whistled from his sleeve, and from it, boundless frost and snow flew out, forming a white snow dragon that charged at Shen Luo and the others.

As the snow dragon erged, the surrounding temperature plumted, a biting cold aura spreading. True Immortal stage cultivators nearby, though protected by Mana, had a layer of white frost form on their eyebrows.

As the snow dragon approached, cracking sounds echoed in the void. The originally water bucket-thin snow dragon absorbed water vapor, forming a white ice armor around its body.

The snow dragon raised its head, ready to dive towards the trio. Seeing this, the Mirror Fiend’s eyes fixed, blue light rapidly swirling around, emitting a piercing screech, followed by a thunderous boom. Countless fist-sized blue lightning gathered, morphing into a Water Gange Divine Thunder that smashed towards the snow dragon.

With a “boom”, the massive lightning exploded, halting the snow dragon’s dive. Its cheek armor shattered, but its inner structure remained intact, continuing its fierce descent.

Seeing this, the Mirror Fiend twisted her body, taking out a blue mirror from her bosom. Under the propulsion of spiritual power, blue light surged forth towards the snow dragon.

This ti, the surging blue light shattered even faster. The snow dragon, barely affected, crashed down effortlessly.

The blue mirror in the Mirror Fiend’s hand was covered with frost. Her own blood seed frozen, leaving her immobile.

“Save …” the Mirror Fiend, as if standing over an abyss, pleaded hoarsely.
