Faye Holloway’s face turned livid with anger, not daring to look at Gabriel Jacobs’s expression. At the sa ti, she felt ashad for not having taught their daughter well.

"Gabriel, Vivian is just in a bad mood today. I’ll have a good talk with her when I get back. Don’t be angry."

In front of Gabriel Jacobs, Faye was always humble, even lowering her voice several notches as she spoke.

Gabriel snorted coldly. With Vivian not there, he didn’t need to put on a good face for this woman.

"Look at how well you taught your daughter, Faye. I thought you were incapable from the beginning, and now I see the daughter you raised is just as infuriating. It seems coming back to you was really a mistake!"

Faye’s face went pale, and she tightly grabbed his hand.

"Gabriel, that’s not how it is. Vivian is usually very obedient. Don’t worry, it’s just about money, right? Vivian will surely help the Jacobs family. After all, she is still a daughter of the Jacobs family."

Her words successfully pleased Gabriel, causing him to curl his lips in feigned affection as he embraced her.

"I knew you were the best, Faye. I should have divorced Mae Sumrs back then. Why let you suffer so much?"

Faye was touched and nestled into his arms.

"Gabriel, as long as you rember my kindness, I’m already content."

A trace of sarcasm flickered in Gabriel’s eyes. In his younger days, he might have liked docile, brainless won like Faye, but actually marrying her would only cause suffering. After all, apart from decent looks, she was useless in every other way.

Moreover, Faye was getting old now, and there would always be younger won. Even if he did divorce Mae Sumrs, he’d never co back to this old woman.

"I have so things to attend to. I’ll be leaving now. Once you’ve talked to Vivian, I’ll co to marry you right away."

Faye, almost grateful, saw him off. Once Gabriel’s figure completely disappeared, she called Vivian, but she didn’t answer.

Feeling indignant, Faye went straight to Jude Shaw’s villa.

Vivian had already returned ho and saw that Jude Shaw had washed the dishes, which ward her heart.

"You’re back."

Jude Shaw sat on the sofa watching TV and asked softly when he heard the door open.

Vivian’s heart ward. The person she had always pursued was right in front of her now.

"Mm, you ate, didn’t you?"

She changed her shoes while placing her bag aside.

Jude nodded and, as she approached, pulled her into an embrace.

"Yes, I did. How about you?"

He didn’t ask how her eting with the Jacobs family went, as he could already guess Vivian’s mindset.

"I couldn’t eat at all; I’m full from anger, and I don’t want to eat."

The biggest difference between Jude Shaw and Julian Sterling was that Jude would give his wife enough respect. Since they were married, he truly treated her as his wife, never straying or getting involved in scandals with other won.

Just as they were about to speak, urgent knocking sounded from outside. Though there was a doorbell, the person outside didn’t use it.

"Knock, knock, knock!"

The sound seed to want to crash through the door and hit Vivian.

Vivian stood up, guessing who was outside.

As soon as she opened the door, a slap landed on her face.

"Vivian, you’ve really grown wings. What kind of tone did you have with your father just now? Aren’t you going to apologize to him with !"

Faye’s face reddened with anger. She was always like this: a tiger before her daughter but would retract her claws and act like a naless cat beside Gabriel.

Vivian held her face, unsure what to say. She had long been disappointed in her mother.

Since her mother had been trying to get in touch with that man year after year, Vivian had already lost hope.

Jude Shaw, sitting on the sofa, quickly stood up and walked to Vivian when he heard the slap.

Vivian covered her face, feeling embarrassed to be seen by him, keeping her head down.

"Let see."

Jude furrowed his brow and took her hand off her face.

Her cheek was swollen, with five distinct finger marks, showing that Faye had used a lot of force.

Seeing Jude’s now darkened face made Faye inexplicably guilty.

But she thought, since Vivian was her daughter, there was nothing wrong with her educating her.

"Ms. Holloway."

Jude spoke calmly, but his gaze was sharp as a knife, making Faye take a step back.

"Vivian is now my wife. A married daughter is like water spilled; considering you are her mother, this slap won’t be returned. But if you appear at my villa again, don’t bla for having you thrown out!"

After saying this, Jude slamd the door shut, leaving Faye outside.

Faye couldn’t believe it. Jude Shaw was supposed to be her son-in-law; she was his elder. How could he treat her like this?

But surrounded by bodyguards, she didn’t dare to speak up and left sullenly.

Inside, Jude Shaw took an egg, carefully peeled the shell, and gently rolled it across her cheek.

"Don’t know how to dodge?"

He was a bit angry. The thought of his wife being slapped in front of him fueled his anger.

Vivian smiled sweetly, showing a rare little feminine charm.

"I’m okay, I’ve gotten used to it. That man has always been her sky. No matter what I say, she won’t believe . Once she suffers at his hands, maybe she’ll get smarter."

Vivian thought so, but she overlooked Faye’s foolishness and deep emotions.

After leaving, Faye frantically called Gabriel, hoping to be with him tonight. They hadn’t shared a bed for many years.

But Gabriel was busy accompanying Mae Sumrs, not thinking about her at all.

Mae Sumrs looked quite unwell, likely ill.

"Who is that woman?"

Mae Sumrs asked, looking at the woman talking to the doctor not far away, as her daughter beside her had stopped walking and was glaring at the woman with resentnt.

"That’s Eleanor Hollis, Mom. Didn’t I tell you before?"

Yvette Jacobs clenched her fists tightly. Eleanor was glamorous now, but as for her, she was toyed with and still feared. How could Eleanor, from the countryside, stand here now?

Mae Sumrs thought for a while, then smiled slowly.

"Shadow, you need to build a good relationship with her, not oppose her. We, the Jacobs Family, have nothing now. Where’s the confidence to go against the wife of Grandeur’s CEO? You tend to be impulsive."

What she said was truth, but Yvette was unwilling to accept it.
