"But the person you love is ."
If you love her, why don’t you want her?
Julian Sterling had regained his composure and pried her fingers apart one by one.
"Yvette Jacobs, what does Gloria an to you? Are you going to let her take on those curses for you for nothing?"
Yvette gritted her teeth and refused to speak; it was Gloria Galloway’s own choice!
Julian adjusted his clothes and glanced back at her.
"Don’t call for such things in the future; I’ll block your number. If anything happens, find soone else."
"In Serenford, you are the only person I can rely on! Julian, I ca back to the country for you."
Yvette tried to step forward but was halted by Julian’s next words.
"Yvette, I’m not a fool. If it weren’t for sothing happening with the Jacobs Family, you would never think of in your entire life. I’ve seen through your hypocrisy; caring about you is just a habit."
After Julian finished speaking, he strode away.
Yvette stood there, feeling as if her teeth were about to be ground to bits.
After getting into the car, Julian called Gloria, even though he had told her that aside from the wedding contract, she wouldn’t get anything. But noticing the look of loss on her face, he felt a bit uncomfortable.
Gloria was still with Eleanor Hollis at the ti, but she had gone to the restroom, leaving her phone on the table.
Eleanor saw the flashing words, and the corners of her mouth twisted with sarcasm. Perhaps the matter had been dealt with, so he finally thought to call Gloria.
She didn’t answer, stirring her juice absentmindedly.
Gloria firmly believed Julian would return; they waited in the restaurant, but after an hour, all they received was a phone call from Julian.
Soon, Gloria ca back from the restroom.
"Gloria, let’s go."
Eleanor didn’t ntion Julian had called.
Gloria nodded and looked at her phone’s black screen, feeling a painful sting in her heart.
She hadn’t possessed that man yet and had already lost him completely.
Eleanor noticed her low spirits and offered to take her ho; Gloria was living with Julian.
As the car halted, she imdiately saw Julian waiting outside.
Eleanor saw him too, stopped the car, and rolled down the window.
"Best Actor Sterling, you disappeared for an hour and a half. Given a man’s stamina, you should’ve done everything possible in that ti, right?"
The call was from Yvette; he had spent the entire hour and a half with her, just the two of them, probably a fiery passion.
Julian’s lips moved slightly, and when he saw the mockery in Eleanor’s eyes, he wanted to say he hadn’t done anything with Yvette, but rembering that kiss he initiated, he suddenly felt uncertain, not knowing what to say.
His admission was like a sharp knife, piercing the softest part of Gloria’s heart.
Gloria held on, turning to Eleanor.
"Eleanor, I’m going to bed, you should leave."
Eleanor nodded, closed the window, and stepped on the gas.
The two left behind were exceptionally silent, neither saying a word.
Gloria was the first to move and stepped inside.
Julian stood for a while before following her in.
Back at ho, Eleanor felt a dull pain in her heart; she hoped Gloria could see clearly not to waste ti on such a man, as everything could still be salvaged since they weren’t married yet.
However, early the next morning, a wedding invitation was dropped at her doorstep, saying Gloria would marry Julian the following Monday.
But this wedding wasn’t announced online; only a few close friends were invited.
Jude Shaw felt his mind buzzing upon receiving the invitation; he hadn’t dared to see Gloria or think about her these days, drowning in drinks with Evan Yancy, yet the news he received was her wedding to Julian. What happened in between?
He called Gloria, but no one answered.
Jude felt sowhat lost, like the treasure he accidentally uncovered had been snatched away.
He stared blankly at the invitation, feeling a sour ache in his heart, his eyes slightly reddened.
In the evening, he finally got through to Gloria and wanted to ask her out for a talk.
Gloria agreed; she indeed had sothing to say to Jude.
The two sat face-to-face in a restaurant.
Initially, Jude had many things he wanted to tell her, but seeing her so haggard, his heart ached instantly.
"Gloria, do you like him so? Knowing that being together will tornt each other, you still want to be with him?"
Gloria said nothing; Julian was the man she had always liked, and that liking had beco a habit. Besides him, she didn’t know who else she could be with; she had beco obsessed.
"If you’re willing, I can marry you. I’ve figured it out these past few days; I truly like you. I’m not like Julian, I won’t let you suffer any grievances."
He finally spoke the words he had wanted to say.
Jude breathed a sigh of relief and nervously watched her.
But Gloria was unmoved, her eyes not even flickering.
"I don’t like you, Jude. I’m grateful for you standing up for , but feelings can’t be forced. Today, I just want to make it clear to you that I’m about to marry Julian. Please control your actions and emotions going forward."
Don’t suddenly kiss her as you did that night.
Jude felt a sharp pain; this was the feeling of liking soone.
He stood, smiled weakly.
"You’re marrying Julian? Then you’re my brother’s woman. Rest assured, even if I have presumptuous thoughts, I’ll keep them hidden. Gloria, know that if you have a hard ti after marriage, my door will always be open for you."
Gloria didn’t speak, watching Jude’s retreating back, she sighed.
If she had t Jude earlier, maybe she wouldn’t have liked Julian. But life doesn’t offer so many ’what ifs.’
Very soon, Gloria and Julian’s wedding day arrived.
Eleanor dressed appropriately early in the morning, adjusting Marcus’s attire.
"Mommy, is Aunt Gloria getting married? How co I didn’t hear she had a boyfriend before?"
Marcus tilted his head, carefully fastening the button on his collar.
"Don’t ask too many questions; you’ll find out when you go."
Eleanor wasn’t looking forward to Gloria and Julian’s wedding, so she didn’t want to say much.
Marcus sensed her mood, reached out to hold her hand.
"Let’s go to the wedding venue."
Eleanor nodded and got into the car waiting outside.
