Gloria felt pain, furrowing her brow slightly, but she did not struggle; instead, she fearlessly looked her opponent in the eye.

"I do like Julian. A woman like you isn’t fit to be by his side. Yvette, I’ll make everyone see your true colors."

A trace of malice flickered in Yvette Jacobs’ eyes; she detested won like Gloria most.

Gloria’s mind was simple; she had never truly experienced life’s hardships and had never felt the sensation of falling from the clouds into the dust, unlike Yvette.

"He won’t believe you."

Yvette released her, nonchalantly wiping her hands.

"Tomorrow, you resign on your own, or I can’t guarantee what I might do to you. Gloria, you can’t win against ."

Gloria remained silent. It wasn’t until Yvette’s car slowly drove into the apartnt complex that she shrugged, took out her phone, and glanced at it. It happened to be twelve o’clock.

"Happy birthday."

She whispered softly, then took the car ho.

At seven in the morning, she received text ssages from Eleanor Hollis and Samantha Sullivan, saying they had prepared a birthday party for her and hoped she would dress nicely.

But Gloria refused; she was not familiar with those people and had no desire to deal with them.

"Just the three of us getting together privately is fine."

Samantha spent the whole night preparing with Eleanor for this, and hadn’t gone ho; they prepped for so long, only for Gloria not to like it.

She exchanged glances with Eleanor and then sighed, imdiately catching a car to find Gloria.

Gloria was in a bad mood; ever since seeing Yvette the previous night, she hadn’t slept.

Despite Yvette’s awful personality, Julian still liked her, which was what bothered Gloria the most.

"Gloria, what’s wrong? Why are your dark circles so pronounced?"

The mont Eleanor saw Gloria, she worriedly rubbed her head.

Gloria’s heart sank, and she turned away.

"Just a few verbal warnings from Yvette last night. She asked to resign and not stay by Julian’s side."

She had resigned from Grandeur for this job, hoping to see Julian all the ti.

But Yvette’s appearance made her position awkward.

Eleanor didn’t like Yvette either and always felt she was unworthy of a man like Julian. But Julian was stubborn; if they spoke ill of Yvette in front of him, it would only backfire.

"Will you resign then? I feel their relationship is quite good now. You seem uncomfortable, so it might be better to return to Grandeur. Don’t worry, I’ll arrange a position for you."

Eleanor took a sip of tea, noticing Gloria’s reddened eyes, knowing she had made up her mind.

"I’ll go resign this afternoon."

As soon as she left Julian, her life might return to normal, not having to guess daily what he’s thinking.

Thinking this relaxed her slightly, but none of them expected that there’s a saying: man proposes, God disposes.

In the afternoon, she got her resignation report, planning to find Julian. At the intersection waiting for the traffic light, a car rushed forward.

The car had run several red lights and hit a boy crossing the street.

Shock turned Gloria’s face pale, her hands trembled on the steering wheel. If she hadn’t swerved quickly, she would’ve been hit by the car.

But she was puzzled; the car seed familiar, as if it belonged to Yvette.

The area was rapidly surrounded by many people. Yvette’s car doors remained tightly shut, and she was trembling all over. She had just drunk a little too much while driving, not expecting this outco.

She instantly thought of Julian, quickly pulling out her cellphone to call him.

Onlookers began condemning the offending vehicle, but the driver had not stepped out.

Angered, they started banging on the car doors.

The boy hit was killed instantly, leaving the parents crying hoarsely nearby.

Gloria calmly parked her car in a nearby spot and then ca over to see.

Yvette’s car was already surrounded, but with her sunglasses and mask on and doors locked, nobody knew what she looked like.

Yvette was terrified, keeping her head down.

Soon the police arrived, and because she refused to co out, they forcibly towed her car to the police station.

Yvette sat trembling until Julian arrived, helping her calm down slightly, sobbing into his embrace.

"I didn’t an it... I wasn’t even drunk... Why couldn’t I control myself..."

She kept crying to Julian; at this mont, only Julian could help her, help bury this incident.

But the police had already tested her, confirming she was driving under the influence.

Yvette collapsed onto the floor; if this got out, her plans for stardom would be utterly ruined.

Julian couldn’t bear to see her distraught and quickly helped her up.

"Yvette, I’ll compensate the boy’s parents until they are satisfied, ensuring nobody knows it was your doing."

However, the video of Yvette’s car hitting soone had quickly spread online. People didn’t know whose car it was, only guessing vaguely it belonged to so rich and spoiled second-generation.

The top three trending topics on Weibo were all about this incident, and everyone furiously called for this person to be found quickly.

Yvette kept an eye on the Weibo discussions; seeing the high level of interest, her phone slipped from her grasp.

She was surely finished; once everyone knew she was the driver, they would all pounce on her.

"Julian, please help . If you do, I’ll marry you, I beg you."

She incoherently clung to Julian’s arm, her face full of panic.

Julian said nothing, feeling uncomfortable; did she truly like him, why say such things? Isn’t marriage about mutual willingness?

"Oh! Gloris’ car was there too. I saw Gloria. As long as everyone thinks she did it, it’d be fine; she’s not a public figure—no one will do anything to her. Julian, Gloria listens to you; tell her, I’ll compensate her, definitely."

She seed to have seen Gloria’s car then, and her heart was filled with hope thinking of this.

But Julian’s brow furrowed; he had seen the video, if Gloria hadn’t dodged promptly, she might’ve died too. She was clearly a victim.

Yet Yvette was now contemplating shifting the bla onto her. Why didn’t she search for the fault in herself; nobody forced her to drive drunk?
