The wind gently blew, causing the Silver Moon Banner atop the castle to rustle.

Salted Fish Port was the only place on the entire continent where the Silver Moon Banner was regularly displayed and was also the only territory legally belonging to Gray.

Early on, Shelley was already holding Little Richie’s hand, waiting at the northern exit of Salted Fish Port for her husband’s return.

However, it was just the two of them. The whole world felt desolate.

The news that Gray had beco a Lich had spread across the continent, and everyone knew about it. Since Gray was about to co back, the residents of Salted Fish Port who could leave had already gone. Those who remained had closed their doors and windows tightly. There wasn’t a welcoming crowd, and even the streets were deserted, as if the town had turned into a ghost town overnight.

The soldiers guarding the city had left, and the maids had been dismissed. After all, no one wanted to associate with darkness. Once Gray was confird as a Lich, no one seed interested in discussing whether this Lich could be righteous or not.

Strictly speaking, Little Richie, who was just over one year old but looked like he was five or six, quietly held Shelley’s hand, standing by her side.

His Guardian Angel and Tempting Demon—Delia and Sarina—hid far away, keeping themselves invisible. Similarly, Catherine and Abod floated quietly in the sky, also hidden from sight.

The wind softly blew, caressing Shelley’s hair and flattening the verdant grass. She waited quietly, awaiting her husband’s return.

"Mom, how much longer do we have to wait? It’s been two days already," Richie asked, looking up.

"Are you tired?" Shelley asked.

"No, I’m not tired. I just worry that you might be, Mom."

Stroking Richie’s little head, Shelley smiled and said softly, "Mom is not tired."

Richie blinked his eyes and continued to gaze into the distance.

Far off, a few households had opened their windows a crack, secretly watching this mother and child.

"Will the Holy Knight really co back? What are we supposed to do if he actually returns?"

"I’ve already stocked up enough food for several days. Except for the ti when Little Richie was born, he never stays long whenever he cos back. Don’t worry."

"But... I heard he wants to sacrifice all the residents of Salted Fish Port to the Demon."

"Who said that?"

"The lady at the market said so when I was buying vegetables a couple of days ago."

"Oh heavens! What should we do? Are we still in ti to leave now?"

Ti ticked by, mont by mont.

Finally, in the distance, the Silver Moon Banner appeared on the top of the hill, flapping in the wind.

Shelley suddenly opened her eyes wide.

Soon, Carl appeared atop the hill, riding a horse and holding the Silver Moon Flag. His bare skull was plainly exposed to the sunlight.

"He’s here!" The people behind the windows gasped, covering their mouths in fright.

Shelley seed sowhat disappointed, yet she still smiled, touching Carl’s head and saying, "Your dad will be here soon, this is just the advance party."

"Mom," Richie asked quietly, "how can you tell it’s not Dad when they all have skulls? Is it because of the armor?"

"Your dad has a pull ring on his head."

"A pull ring?"

"Yes, he once disguised himself as an ordinary skeleton to sneak into Bruto’s study to secretly learn magic. The pull ring was left from that ti."

"Have you ever seen Dad’s true form?"

Shelley nodded slightly.

"Aren’t you scared? All humans are scared, and you are human too."

"Not scared, because love has blinded my eyes. You are the crystallization of our love." She caressed Richie’s head, grinning sweetly.

Richie stared bewilderedly at Shelley, silent.

After a while, Richie asked softly again, "Mom, there’s sothing I’ve always wanted to ask you."

"Ask."

"Am I really born of you, like other children? Or am I purely condensed by magic?"

Shelley bent down, kissed Richie gently on the forehead, and whispered, "Of course you were born of , no one in the world can deny that. You are your mother’s dearest little treasure."

"I love you too, Mom," Richie said hesitantly, holding Shelley’s hand. "I will protect you, whether it’s a holy spirit or a Demon Lord, nobody can harm my mom."

"Good boy," Shelley gently stroked Richie’s face, "but Mom hopes you take care of yourself."

Richie smiled, looking at Shelley.

...

"There’s no one in this world who can harm my mom. No one... not at all."

...

Richie slowly opened his eyes, a hint of confusion reflecting in them as he looked at the dark cavern ceiling. In a daze, he seed to still be reliving the dream he just had, lying motionless.

The dim firelight at the entrance shone on his face, covered in "rotting flesh."

Both his eyelids had regrown. His left eyeball had also grown back, but the right eye socket was still hollow, with nothing in it.

Since the mont Richie had sliced off his flesh, his body had been growing wildly, stubbornly trying to recover its original state.

This growth required no food, relying entirely on Richie’s Magic Power. Fortunately, Richie’s Magic Power grew extrely fast, to an astonishing degree. Therefore, the growth of flesh was also very rapid.

However, this quickness wasn’t uniform, so much so that Richie’s left eye had completely regrown an eyeball, but the right eye socket was still empty.

Most parts of his body were like this.

Now, Richie looked like a zombie. But what was exposed wasn’t decaying flesh, it was newly grown flesh buds.
