The Lich of Glory Knight Spirit: Moving towards Krimasha! Chapter 323 - 49: The Struggle Between Father and Son (6)2
"What? Are you going to attack your own father?" Count Dracula roared.
"So what if I do! Aren’t you also attacking your own son?" Jones roared back.
There was no longer room for compromise.
Count Dracula decisively drew his sword and walked toward Jones.
Jones retreated step by step, yet still maintained an aggressive stance.
"Ha!" With a loud shout, Count Dracula stepped forward and swung a horizontal slash toward Jones.
Jones bent down swiftly to dodge, and under Count Dracula’s astonished gaze, thrust straight at Count Dracula’s abdon. Even while evading, the sword still grazed past his abdon.
In an instant, Jones was behind Count Dracula, then delivered a returning slash. Without the slightest pause or hesitation.
If Count Dracula weren’t much older than Jones, with far superior reflexes and speed, these two strokes might have already decided the outco. How long had it been since Count Dracula last held a sword? Even he had forgotten. Jones, however, had thick calluses on his hands from wielding a sword.
"Order your n to lay down their weapons! Imdiately!"
"In your dreams!"
"I’ll kill you, you rebellious son!"
"Co on! Fight to the death! Let’s see who kills who! Didn’t you say I’m good for nothing? Today I’ll show you just how good for nothing I am!"
Jones’s every strike was ruthless, and Count Dracula also fought with all his might.
For a mont, the father and son fought to a draw, neither gaining ground.
The sight left Duke Clent, who was commanding from high above, a bit bewildered.
Who would have thought?
Generally speaking, Jones should have been utterly overpowered. Yet he managed to fight to a draw. So might even say he had the upper hand, because Count Dracula was starting to panic.
No matter from what angle, Count Dracula’s sword was faster and fiercer than Jones’s, yet Jones consistently took unconventional paths, accurately targeting Count Dracula’s weaknesses, forcing him into a frantic defense. Sotis, at critical monts, Jones would lightly deflect, neutralizing Count Dracula’s onslaught.
This was honed from years of battle.
For a skilled swordsman, reflexes, speed, and accuracy were only part of the equation. Beyond that, there’s sothing mysterious called "intuition." The intuition to anticipate an opponent’s attack and defense, even a bodily instinctive response. It’s sothing only possibly acquired through countless battles. Count Dracula lacked it, but Jones had it. Relying on this, he made up for his own shortcomings in reflexes and speed.
On the other hand, Adelle facing Duke ssier wasn’t so fortunate. But he also had his own thods.
"Soone quickly help hold him off! Hold him off! I’m offering three thousand gold coins!"
"I’ll do it!" A mber of the Blood Clan suddenly rushed out from nowhere, intercepting Duke ssier’s descending sword. Imdiately after, he was blasted away by a spell from Duke ssier.
"Send another one, no! Send two! Three thousand gold coins each! Help!" Adelle scread in horror, flying around the Hydra, throwing money as he went. Duke ssier pursued closely, yet no matter how hard he chased, he always fell just a bit short. Because at critical monts, soone would always erge from an unknown corner to save Adelle. Sotis it was the Blood Clan, sotis dwarves, and sotis even the Hydra’s tail would sweep through, forcing Duke ssier back.
"Help! Ten thousand gold coins! Help defeat him!"
"Help! Send more n! I’m offering twenty thousand!"
"Help! A hundred thousand—!"
Adelle’s cries for help echoed incessantly.
Duke ssier chased relentlessly, already gasping for breath, yet still couldn’t catch Adelle. Conversely, Adelle’s forces grew more and more valiant.
"For the young master! Charge—!"
"Charge—!"
The Guard Commander led the troops in a fierce charge, catching Duke ssier’s group, including Duke ssier himself, by surprise, forcing them to scatter.
Now it was truly a chaotic fight to the death, especially with the Hydra aiding in the fierce assault. Even though the Deacon Council had a massive advantage in magic power, they couldn’t fully exploit it.
Forcing Count Dracula away, Jones landed beside Adelle, panting heavily, staring intently at his father, who was also panting heavily in the distance: "Your n aren’t bad!"
"How could they be? I just spent three million gold coins! Three million gold coins!" Adelle shouted through gritted teeth, "If I lose, they won’t get a single cent!"
"Three million? What did you do?" Jones was shocked.
"Would you believe if I said I was escaping for my life?" Adelle replied in a daze. At this mont, Adelle’s heart was undoubtedly bleeding.
This was undoubtedly the most expensive battle he had ever fought.
The Hydra was still rampaging on the field, its nine heads thrashing about wildly, each strike filled with power.
Duke ssier was already entangled, having no ti to deal with Adelle.
But Count Dracula arrived again, separating Jones and Adelle.
Jones fought while retreating, using his swordsmanship advantage to hold Count Dracula at bay.
Adelle wanted to join the fight, thought about it, but decided against it, stepping back and shouting: "Everyone gets another ten thousand gold coins! Give it your all! Fight to the death!"
Perhaps this was the true reflection of Adelle’s abilities, for imdiately, his subordinates’ morale surged once again.
"These little brats... they really are a bit troubleso." Duke Clent, flying in midair, transford into human form and landed on the ground. Extending his hand, a lightweight crossbow that had fallen to the ground swiftly flew into his grasp. With a touch of his left hand, he pulled out a whole set of poisoned needles from beneath the crossbow.
Amidst the chaos, he walked step by step toward the center of the battlefield, where the Hydra was, and slightly parted his lips to utter an incantation.
The poisoned needles in his hand imdiately levitated, lining up in a row. Dark red magic power condensed on the needles.
A dwarf noticed his actions and swung a hamr in his hand, roaring as he charged toward him. But before the dwarf could get close, a protective shield had already risen between him and Duke Clent, forcefully rebounding him back.
With a gentle guidance of his fingers and a muttered incantation, one of the poisoned needles shot out swiftly, instantly piercing one of the Hydra’s heads.
Silently, under the night sky, the wound couldn’t even be seen, no blood visible. But with just one strike, the hit head was already wobbling. The other eight heads froze, simultaneously looking toward Duke Clent.
Being the center of the battlefield, the Hydra was also the most conspicuous presence. In an instant, the others also turned their attention to Duke Clent.
Jones and Adelle were both stunned.
Count Dracula slowly turned his head.
Without any pause, imdiately after, two more poisoned needles silently pierced the sa head. The pierced head fell heavily to the ground, raising a cloud of dust.
"Roar—!" The remaining eight heads ferociously lunged toward Duke Clent.
Duke Clent lightly touched the ground with his toes and swiftly retreated, chanting incantations, as three more poisoned needles shot out. Another head lost consciousness and crashed to the ground. Only seven heads were left, frantically struggling and pursuing. Unfortunately, when a Blood Clan mber wants to run, the Hydra has no way to catch up.
"Help hold off my father."
"What did you say?" Adelle quickly turned his face.
No answer. Because Jones was already charging toward the direction where Duke Clent was located.
Adelle and Count Dracula silently exchanged a glance.
Turning back, Adelle pointed at Count Dracula and shouted: "Whoever helps hold him off! The price is negotiable!"
