The Lich of Glory Knight Spirit: Moving towards Krimasha! Chapter 309 - 43: Candor (2)
The dim underground world.
The shadow of Adolf quietly appeared on the platform at the top of the giant pillar. The next mont, his body suddenly leaned forward, completely falling to the ground, and then a streak of fresh blood directly coughed out from his mouth, splattering everywhere.
The blue mist quietly appeared beside him.
Adolf was breathing heavily, his gaze sowhat dazed, staring blankly at the pattern of his coughed blood forming on the stone slab.
"I suggest you stay in the Blood Crystal a bit longer. Otherwise, with your physical condition, you might not last a month," the blue mist said softly.
Adolf closed his eyes and gently nodded.
The sand on the ground quickly gathered and ford an upright cane beside him. Adolf reached out and grabbed it, slowly standing up.
"I thought you would refuse."
"The answer is already obtained, I have no reason to refuse..." Leaning on the cane, Adolf walked step by step slowly down the spiral staircase around the pillar.
All around were Blood Crystals, flickering with a blue glow. The people inside the Blood Crystals remained the sa.
"The answer is already obtained? That’s quite a surprise. What is the answer?"
"The answer is, it’s not what we initially guessed." Walking along, Adolf tiredly said, "We almost concluded from the beginning that the rise of the Lich King wasn’t how it appeared on the surface. After all, liches have no reason to fight for humans. It’s absurd. So I needed to understand. But the fact seems to be different from what we thought."
"What is it like then?"
"It’s what we least believed."
The blue mist fell silent, quietly following behind Adolf. After walking a while, it softly said, "This differs greatly from what we anticipated."
"Very greatly."
"It’s not good news. This ans that after the Awakening Day arrives, we will very likely not get the support of ordinary humans. And their support is crucial."
"It could also be good news. It ans humanity might start a new civilization, like Krimasha did. Only this ti, the object of reliance isn’t Angels or Demons, but liches."
"But it’s still reliance, isn’t it? It’s not what we want. It’s even the worst possible news. Because of unrealistic fantasies, Krimasha couldn’t gather all strength to start the human improvent plan. If the strength wasn’t dispersed, maybe we wouldn’t need to wait for ten thousand years. Are you sure this is the truth?"
Walking step by step, until the middle of the giant pillar, Adolf stood still. Silently, he looked at the girl inside the Blood Crystal from a distance.
"Sure. Although it was told to by Jones, I saw sincerity in his eyes. And his explanation is very self-consistent, which indicates he wasn’t lying. It’s just..." Hesitating for a mont, Adolf softly exhaled and said, "It’s quite laughable, isn’t it? I understand everything you said. If there’s no hope at all, in despair, humanity might actually burst out extraordinary strength. But if there’s a ssiah, then everyone would rely on the ssiah. In the end... strength would trickle away over ti, until it completely disappears. True despair would descend. Almost all humans on the continent are celebrating the birth of a ssiah, and all we can think about is worry. If he is the ssiah, then what are we?"
"We are nothing." The blue mist softly answered.
"Yes, if he is the ssiah, then we are nothing. The history of Krimasha has long been erased, humans don’t have our legends, they won’t listen to us. They will only worship their White Bone Holy Light Court, worship the Lich King, and the Lich King’s justice. If that’s false justice, it’d be beneficial to us. At least we could expose it. Unfortunately, it’s true."
Speaking, Adolf gently moved forward.
The sand under his feet quickly condensed into a bridge of sand, supporting his steps.
"Maybe we should find a way to stop him, at least stop him from controlling all humans. The northern territories of the continent are still not under his control."
Walking forward step by step, Adolf continued, "I am already very weak. And the liches beside the Lich King are not ones I can deal with. They are too strong, almost equivalent to the Heaven forces on Keltos Plane without angels, or Hell forces without the Demon Lord. In front of them, I don’t even have the power to disguise my identity."
As usual, walking up to the girl’s Blood Crystal, he stopped. But this ti perhaps because of his physical condition, or so other reason, after coughing twice, Adolf didn’t stay long; he turned and left, heading towards his own Blood Crystal.
"Do you think the Lich King might support the human improvent plan?" the blue mist asked.
"There’s no evidence showing he has a desire for power, nor any evidence showing he thinks about enhancing human strength. We can’t know the answer. If we want to know, we can only tell him the truth. But for us, the risk is too great. At least not now, and it shouldn’t be my decision..."
Coming to his Blood Crystal, Adolf turned around.
The Blood Crystal rippled, he closed his eyes, bit by bit lying inside.
