Jason's expression sank, and then turned grim when he read that line. 'That thing in the tank was a man?' Jason leaned back in his chair as he digested that first piece of information. 'It did not look very human Hm Is its side effect?'
He could not help but compare it to his Gramps. After all, the old coot had a tail and dense muscles as his Power. 'Is that related to this research? Is Gramps sohow descended from a test subject?' The whole thing sent Jason's mind into a spin.
The only problem with that theory that he could see so far was that it did not explain so other Powers. Unless there were beasts out there that could spew fire or control tal. Jason trembled at that thought. The things he had dealt with so far had been bad enough. He did not even want to consider the possibility of wildlife with Powers.
'Wait! The longnecks could stretch a part of their body just like Adam!' Jason frowned when he recalled that event. It seed to confirm that there were indeed animals out there that could match human Powers. Or it would be more apt to say that humans could match the animal kingdom's abilities.
'Did we really steal these abilities from the beasts?' Jason felt like that was how things were shaping up to be. But then, that still begged the question of how animals gained Powers in the first place.
"Jason It seems they tried fusing animal DNA together first before they moved on to human experintation." Syssie raised her eyebrows as she scanned the additional information. "The surviving experints recorded here seed to be extrely dangerous. Apparently Nest 3 was destroyed by one of these subjects"
Jason glanced at her with a curious expression. "For a Nest to be destroyed This is not ideal. There was probably vital information stored in there."
Jason tapped his chin before he continued. "How powerful was the beast? Does it say what abilities it had?"
"No, it doesn't go into any details. Just that they put a kill order out on it, but it failed. The creature disappeared after that. At the very least, it did not fall back into the hands of any Nest. At the ti of this report, anyway." Syssie wore a concerned expression as she glanced at Jason.
This extra information shed a light on their previous plan to escape and explore the wilds. They had been overly nave about the whole thing. They would have to plan much further ahead. 'He'll have to bring the Infinity up another level, at least. But that still wouldn't guarantee his safety.'
The pair sighed simultaneously at their own thoughts. Both of them had concluded that they could not afford to strike out on their own just yet. That was if they could find a solution to Syssie's degradation in ti.
"It feels like the entire world is against us" Jason sighed as he stared into space.
"Not the entire world" Syssie let out a devilish smirk. "Just the world that we know so far."
Jason rolled his eyes at her comnt before laughing. "You're right. Maybe we'll get lucky and find a place out there that would be happy to welco us, without putting invisible chains on us."
It was Syssie's turn to roll her eyes at Jason's sarcastic comnt. "Well, look at how things turned out in Bridgend. You were certain that they would lock you away for your mind. Instead, they just saw you as one in the crowd. Nothing important."
"Until Sentinel got involved." Jason had to point out this fact. If Sentinel had not taken an interest, he probably would have spent a few years as a researcher and returned to Highrise. If he would just lie low, then there was a chance that his identity of Black Arrow would have never have been discovered.

However, word of what he was capable of would eventually reach the right ears. Then soone could figure out that he was the most likely suspect in Wraith's murder. Even though it self defence. Jason felt like every ti he accomplished sothing good for his life, sothing bad ca along to counter it.
He developed his Power, and he had to keep secrets from his best friend because of it. Jason opened a store, and a gang tried to exploit him. He took care of the gang, and now there was an Empire wide bounty on his head. He slipped into the inner circle of the military, and now he was chained to one of the most powerful people in the Empire.
'Cause and effect I can't plan for everything. Not without knowing everything and everyone, which is just impossible.' Jason sighed as he considered how his future might develop.
"You could beco a hermit" Syssie's unimaginable comnt caused Jason to break out into laughter.
"You know, that may not be such a bad idea." Jason flashed a warm smile at his companion. "I could just hide away and get lost in creating anything that I find interesting. That would be quite a lonely existence."
Jason shook his head slowly. It was a pleasant fantasy, but a fantasy nonetheless. Humans were social creatures, and being isolated like that could bring nothing good.
"Well, I've finished scanning this box. But you'll need to upgrade your skills to understand most of it." Syssie's eyes turned on Jason as she finished storing the information away in her mory banks. "I think that'll be a common problem with most of these docunts."
"I think so too It would be nice if we can find sothing useable for right now. Anything that can help us in the short term would be incredible. There has to be sothing in this mountain of boxes that shows where they began." Jason grabbed another box from the pile before tossing it uselessly to the side when he read the title stored within.
"They can't possibly have started with full-blown experints. They must have developed sothing that was supposed to be temporary at first"
