The apartnt felt strangely peaceful after the group’s successful raid on the raiders’ stronghold. Supplies were plentiful, spirits were high, and even Mallory’s usual brand of chaotic laziness seed to settle into sothing resembling contentnt. Blinky sat on the coffee table like a benevolent, glowing king, his minions milling about performing small tasks like picking up crumbs or organizing Mallory’s extensive chip collection.

But peace in the apocalypse was always temporary, and the calm was shattered one crisp morning by the unexpected sound of an explosion in the distance.

Mallory bolted upright from her cocoon of blankets on the couch, crumbs falling onto the floor. "What was that?"

Altair adjusted his glasses as he peered out the window. "It ca from the south, near Raven’s camp."

Vanessa, already halfway to her weapons stash, frowned. "Looks like the apocalypse isn’t ready to let us relax just yet."

Mallory groaned, pulling the blanket back over her head. "Can’t soone else save the day for once?"

Zara yanked the blanket off her. "Co on, Queen Lazy. If the camp’s in trouble, we owe it to them to check it out."

"Fine," Mallory muttered, stumbling to her feet. "But I’m not putting on real pants for this."

---

The group made their way toward Raven’s camp, with Mallory trailing behind like a grumpy child being dragged to school. Blinky and a contingent of his glowing minions flanked them, chirping and squelching as they navigated the cracked pavent and overgrown streets.

"I bet it’s just a big barbecue gone wrong," Mallory said, trying to inject so optimism into the tense atmosphere.

Vanessa gave her a withering look. "Barbecue explosions usually don’t send smoke plus visible from ten miles away."

Altair, ever the strategist, scanned the horizon with a pair of binoculars. "The camp’s defenses might not have held. If the raiders retaliated—"

"Then they’re about to et the Blobfather again," Mallory interrupted, flashing a grin.

Despite her bravado, a knot of unease settled in her stomach. She might joke about her reluctance to get involved, but the truth was, she cared more than she let on.

---

When they arrived, the camp was in shambles. Tents were torn apart, supplies scattered, and smoke billowed from a partially collapsed shelter. Survivors ran back and forth, shouting orders and dragging injured companions to safety.

Raven stood in the center of the chaos, her red mohawk singed but her defiant expression intact. She spotted Mallory’s group and jogged over, her staff clutched tightly in one hand.

"Took you long enough," she said, panting. "We’ve got a serious problem."

"What happened?" Vanessa asked, surveying the destruction.

"Raiders?" Zara added, gripping her bat.

Raven shook her head. "Worse. So kind of... creature. It ca out of nowhere and tore through our defenses like they were paper."

Mallory blinked. "Creature? Like... a big zombie?"

"Bigger," Raven said grimly. "And faster. It’s still here sowhere."

As if on cue, a guttural roar echoed through the camp, followed by the sound of sothing heavy crashing through a makeshift barricade.

---

The creature was unlike anything they’d ever seen. Standing over eight feet tall, its body was a grotesque fusion of rotting flesh and tallic parts, as if soone had taken a zombie and grafted it onto a machine. Its glowing red eyes scanned the area with an unsettling intelligence, and its clawed hands dripped with black ooze.

"Oh, great," Mallory muttered. "A cyborg zombie. Just what we needed."

The monster let out another roar and charged toward a group of survivors, its claws tearing through a stack of crates like they were made of paper.

"Blinky, it’s your ti to shine!" Mallory shouted.

The Blobfather didn’t hesitate. With a high-pitched chirp, he launched himself off Mallory’s shoulder and onto the creature’s back, his glowing minions swarming in behind him.

---

What followed was a chaotic, almost slapstick battle that would have been hilarious if it weren’t so deadly.

Blinky and his minions latched onto the creature, covering it in a writhing mass of glowing blobs. The monster flailed wildly, trying to shake them off, but the minions were tenacious.

One particularly brave minion climbed onto the creature’s head and started poking at its glowing red eyes, causing it to roar in frustration.

"Is it just ," Mallory said, watching the scene unfold, "or does this look like a really weird ga of tag?"

Vanessa rolled her eyes. "Focus, Mallory!"

The group joined the fight, using the distraction provided by Blinky and his minions to attack the creature’s vulnerable spots. Zara swung her bat with precision, cracking one of the creature’s chanical limbs, while Vanessa and Altair worked together to set a trap using a length of chain and a pile of debris.

Mallory, true to form, found herself improvising. She grabbed a nearby fire extinguisher and sprayed the creature in the face, temporarily blinding it.

"Take that, Robo-Zombie!" she shouted, laughing as the monster stumbled.

---

The battle reached its climax when Blinky, glowing brighter than ever, launched himself into the creature’s chest cavity. There was a mont of stunned silence, followed by a blinding flash of light.

When the light faded, the creature lay motionless on the ground, smoke rising from its charred remains.

The camp erupted in cheers, survivors clapping and hugging each other in relief.

Blinky erged from the wreckage, slightly singed but otherwise unhard. He jiggled proudly, his minions chirping in celebration.

Mallory scooped him up, holding him aloft like a trophy. "Ladies and gentlen, the Blobfather has done it again!"

Raven approached, her expression a mix of gratitude and curiosity. "Whatever that thing was, it’s not like any zombie I’ve ever seen."

Altair crouched beside the creature’s remains, examining its chanical parts. "This wasn’t natural. Soone—or sothing—built this."

The group exchanged uneasy glances.

---

As the group helped the survivors rebuild their camp, Altair shared his findings.

"There’s a pattern to this," he said, pointing to the creature’s tallic components. "These parts weren’t scavenged. They were manufactured."

"By who?" Vanessa asked.

"That’s the question," Altair replied. "Whoever it is, they’re clearly experinting with ways to weaponize zombies."

Mallory groaned. "Great. As if regular zombies weren’t bad enough."

"This changes everything," Raven said. "If these things start showing up more often, none of us are safe."

Mallory looked at Blinky, who jiggled in agreent. For once, her usual nonchalance gave way to determination.

"Then we’ll stop them," she said. "Because if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that nothing sses with the Blobfather and gets away with it."

---

As the group prepared to return to the apartnt, Raven handed Mallory a map.

"This marks the locations of other survivor groups who’ve reported similar attacks," she said. "If you’re serious about stopping this, you’ll need to rally more allies."

Mallory took the map, her usual grin returning. "Looks like we’re going on a road trip."

Vanessa groaned. "Why do I feel like this is going to end in disaster?"

"Because it probably will," Zara said, smirking.

But as they set off toward the unknown, Mallory couldn’t help but feel a spark of excitent.
