Chapter 1657: Reinforcement

CRASH

BOOM

Lord Mordrika slammed into the frozen surface of the ice planet, blood gushing out of his mouth, nose, ears, and all other orifices…

Before today, he was one of the most respected Demon Lords in the Demon Universe. He served under the mand of the Ice Demon King.

Before today, he ranked among the top 20 strongest Demon Lords and was the second most powerful among the three Demon Lords under the mand of the Ice Demon King.

Of course, while individually he was weaker than 30% of the Demon Race, as a Demon Lord, he manded a vast army of Ice Demons.

If—and this is a very serious word—but if Hunter had e to his main base, maybe he wouldn’t have had such an easy time. In fact, he would have regretted ing.

But fate was on Hunter’s side. The Demons were at war with the Righteous Faction, and Lord Mordrika’s vast Ice Demon army was leading the charge on one end of the battlefield.

So he only retreated to this Ice Planet with 10% of his army. He came back to break through from the True Celestial stage to the Celestial King stage, a breakthrough that would have increased his power.

Unluckily for him, he happened to cross paths with the Paragon, and now, as he lay broken on the ground, he cursed himself for being too greedy.

This all started when he decided to covet what wasn’t his. Instead of being content with what he had, he chose to go after what belonged to the Elves. That decision led him to the Renegade Hunter, who turned out to be the Paragon in disguise.

“Very sad, really, to think such a fine warrior as yourself will fall this easily, regretful and in pain, knowing that even if the Demon King you serve were to e himself, death is what awaited both of you,” Asmodeus said with a grin.

He was someone with an undead army so terrifyingly powerful that even if he were to face Lord Mordrika’s army in full, he would walk out alive.

While there may be two or three Pseudo-Primordials in Lord Mordrika’s legion, Asmodeus had five, and he was in the process of getting a sixth.

So he was powerful beyond mortal understanding.

But here lies the case right now: he had thousands of Ice Demons under his mand, but before a necromancer, they are not going to have an easy time.

His next words made Lord Mordrika and many watching tremble.

“You know what is funny? After this battle, I will wele ten Celestial Supreme-level undead and one Pseudo-Primordial. You should be grateful, for in the new future, your face will be on all screens as the Pseudo-Primordial who finally brought an end to the demon infestation.”

Asmodeus grinned and stomped on Lord Mordrika’s leg, shattering the bones.

The poor Demon Lord screamed, but he was powerless to do anything.

Asmodeus could turn the dead into the undead. However, he was not someone who lusted after quantity. He was all about quality, so regardless of how one saw it, he planned to merge many undead to form stronger ones.

Already, he had over a dozen Celestials, but he planned to have more. He wanted his undead army to bee so powerful that he alone would bee a nightmare for any army.

“It is sad, really, but as my master used to say, death is only the beginning of a new life,” he said as he stomped on the other leg, shattering the bone.

He was about to shatter his arms too when the void exploded open. A spear shot out, arriving before Asmodeus like the omen of death.

CLANG

It landed on a rectangular shield and bounced back. Midair, a hand reached out and grabbed it. Then, from the void, a white-bearded Ice Demon with a rugged appearance and muscular build walked out.

The moment he stepped out, the pressure in the surrounding area increased, causing Hunter and the rest of his teammates to raise their brows.

“General Babak, long time no see,” Hunter said, rising back into the air, his hands clasped behind his back.

The demon who attacked Asmodeus narrowed his pink-like eyes at Hunter. “Mad Hunter, can’t say I am happy to see you, but for the sake of convenience and our shared lineage, can you allow me this one favor and hand over Lord Mordrika?”

Hunter smiled and turned to look at Asmodeus.

“As you can see, my hands are clean here. While I would love nothing more than to make your acquaintance, General Babak, the one you should argue with is the Undead Sovereign, Lord Asmodeus.”

“Don’t insult my intelligence, Mad Hunter,” General Babak said, his eyes narrowing dangerously at Hunter. “I know this mission is yours, so can’t you do me this favor just this once and help out an old friend?”

Hunter raised both hands, almost as if to remove himself from whatever General Babak wanted from him. Seeing this, the Demon General, one of the finest under the direct mand of the Ice Demon King, turned to Asmodeus.

“I’ve heard of you before, Necromancer,” General Babak said, taking a step forward. Wherever he stepped, ice formed only to shatter, revealing cracks in the void.

“They said you were the right-hand man of the Paragon of War, that you conquered battlefields and sent armies running for their dear lives.”

He spun his spear and slammed the blunt end against the ground—or more accurately, the air—shattering the space beneath.

“You were a legend of the bygone era, Necromancer. This is the Primus Era, where I, General Babak of the Ice Demon Legion, cannot allow you to walk into the Demon Universe and kill a Demon Lord right under my nose.”

His spear was pointed forward now, aimed at Asmodeus, who smiled and said,

“You know what is funny? I have never heard of you, not even once. However, let’s pretend, for a moment, that you are someone I should be wary of. I mean, you are a Pseudo-Primordial after all, so naturally, I should be afraid of you.

However, let’s pretend I am afraid of you. What then can you do, seeing as I have the upper hand here? Or are you telling me a lone General such as yourself has what it takes to pull a fast one on me?”

The smile on Asmodeus’ face shifted into a grin.

“It breaks my heart, really. After all, before I was summoned to this fine yet terrible universe, I fantasized about how the living lived their lives. But here I am, now among you, and all I see is disappointment.

I want to ask, General Babak, when you sleep at night, do you dream of meeting me today, or do you not dream at all? After all, if you ever dream of me, then know we shared a destiny, and as such, your life is mine to claim. So tell me, General, do you ever dream of me?”

General Babak’s body trembled in sheer anger. An icy aura surged from his body, and for a moment, his legs twitched, urging him to move and kill the undead bastard.

However, before he could move or make any decision, a cold voice spoke into his ear.

“Answer him…”

His body froze in place, and for a moment, he forgot how to think. However, when he regained his senses and recalled what had just happened, he turned pale.

Nia smiled beautifully, pulling down the mask covering her face with one hand while the other held a dagger to General Babak’s throat.
