William made his way to the wooden boat, fully aware that this was clearly Catherine’s doing, intending for him to set out to sea in this manner.
As he boarded the wooden boat, the waves seed to possess self-awareness as they imdiately carried the vessel out to sea.
The wooden boat moved slowly and Catherine did not imdiately reveal herself, affording William the perfect leisure to observe the pool-like ocean that Catherine had created.
He scooped up so seawater with his palm and brought it close for careful examination.
The seemingly clear water was mixed with a multitude of microorganisms, particularly vibrios, in a variety greater than any William had seen before. The bacterial density in each drop of water was even higher than the stinking, greenish plague rain he had encountered in Rat City.
"Indeed, it seems Catherine is connected to the ’sea’ of the Old World. The books Nash prepared for
included a historical introduction to ’The Vibrio Sea,’ a very unique region.
Known as the Pan-style Source Epidemic Area,
it was characterized by the vast expanse of the Vibrio Sea and an extre abundance of species and pathogens. During the Ancient Era, there weren’t just one, but three Plague Masters who governed the Vibrio Sea.
After the war ended,
two of the Plague Masters perished during the conflict, leaving only Fish Origin, who seed to have undergone a change in temperant, becoming very extre. In addition, more than 95% of the Vibrio Sea’s patients died during the war.
It is rumored that the current Vibrio Sea no longer has noticeable patient activity, but there are still deadly things within that normal patients dare not approach.
According to Nash,
Catherine’s short-term acquisition of Deep Sea Water indicates she must have a deep connection with the Vibrio Sea. With Catherine as a lead, I will undoubtedly be able to understand more quickly this largest ocean of the Old World.
Moreover,
the marine areas in the human world were the first to be affected and have the most severe Grey Zone transformation. Almost all inland rivers and lakes have also been affected by the sea, which led to my early encounter with the so-called ’Plague Master’ during the gentleman’s examination.
Fortunately, I had little grape with
then;
otherwise, if I had truly co eye to eye with Fish Origin, I would likely be buried at the bottom of the lake by now or even beco an unconscious scale-infected patient."
Unbeknownst to him,
the coast behind him had faded into darkness,
and the current carrying the boat gradually ca to a stop,
leaving the only source of illumination as the candle at the bow. The ager light of the candle could only penetrate the surface of the water, fragile and feeble in such darkness, ready to be extinguished at the slightest touch.
Whoosh—a gust of sea breeze ca by, pressing the candlelight to its lowest, but the tiny fla persevered steadfastly.
As the candlelight spread once again, illuminating the surroundings of the bed, there were already a pair of arms resting on the wooden ledge at the stern.
When William turned his head, he saw a drenched blonde girl,
with her body above the navel completely exposed above the water, her wet hair cascading down the shoulders, just covering the parts that should not be displayed.
With eyes as blue as the sea and gleaming white teeth,
she seed unable to communicate in human language and could only convey so request through her eyes.
Seeing that the young man bore no malice, she attempted to move her lower body out of the water and onto the boat—not the imagined rmaid tail, but six octopus-like tentacles.
One of the tentacles was severely diseased, infested with dense barnacles that had fully penetrated the flesh. It would be very difficult for her to remove them on her own, and any careless attempt might even cause severe bleeding.
With a try-and-see attitude, she approached this young man, also harboring a sentint unique to young girls.
The young man smiled and extended his hand toward her. When his fingers touched the surface of her tentacle, the touch from the opposite sex, from a terrestrial life, caused her to tremble with intense emotion, and her tentacles shuddered, leaking a little fluid.
The next second, as the young man’s palm touched the surface of the barnacles, a substance representing death was injected into them, causing the barnacles to decay and fall from between the octopus tentacles.
This black death, under the young man’s control, spread rapidly to all the barnacles and completely cleared them without harming the girl.
The blonde girl was astounded by such miraculous healing hands, but after she expressed her gratitude with her eyes, she imdiately lifted her head and opened her mouth, emitting a siren-like lody from her throat.
Soon,
pairs of hands of various skin tones climbed all over the wooden boat, and a multitude of heads erged from the sea around them,
The young man was also slightly startled as he scanned the surroundings, which were unanimously filled with girls no older than sixteen, each with delicate facial features, especially their eyes, which shone brilliantly like pearls of the sea.
There were so many that the candlelight couldn’t illuminate them all.
The girls were all relatively shy, but following the information conveyed by the blonde girl, they also tried to move the diseased, injured octopus tentacles onto the wooden raft.
The young man, in turn, was very patient, offering help both efficiently and gentlemanly...until a strange low-frequency sound wave emanated from the seabed.
The girls’ complexions changed drastically, and even though their pupils showed reluctance, in just one second, they all completed their dive and descended to the seabed with the greatest speed.
The young man also plunged into the ocean, attempting to follow the group of sea girls to their dwelling, to glimpse the secrets hidden deep within the sea.
Without bringing a candle,
darkness was all too familiar for the young man, or rather, for William, the spokesperson of the Abyss, whose Madness Brain swiftly provided him with a visual calculation, capturing the specific images in the dark deep sea.
There were so many,
thousands upon thousands of girls with octopus structures for their lower halves, all heading towards a certain place at the bottom of the sea, stimulated by so signal.
At the bottom of the sea was a gigantic rift as if cleaved by a sharp instrunt, through which all the girls swam with the utmost speed, heading to an unknown area hidden deep within the seabed.
It wasn’t until William followed them that he discovered the seabed rift was actually a barrier that kept the high-pressure seawater at bay.
When he passed through the barrier and landed inside, the scene before his eyes shocked him beyond asure... What unfolded before him was an imnsely large underwater laboratory,
its walls covered with fish scales, between which nestled densely packed fish eyes with monitoring capabilities.
Many cylindrical experintal setups were placed here, and the returning girls, in groups of fifty, headed to their corresponding cylindrical containers.
When they saw that the kind young man had also co to this place, they hurriedly signaled him with their eyes to leave quickly,
but William did not respond and continued towards the depths of the laboratory, wanting to see what exactly was going on here and why these girls, like little lab rats, were imprisoned here.
It was only when William had walked halfway and seen the entire structure of the laboratory that he realized he was in just one of the labs marked with an "octopus mark," and beneath this deep sea were several other different types of experintal zones.
As he walked, William suddenly stopped,
because in a cylindrical container beside him, a black-haired girl trapped inside seed familiar to him, yet he could not rember who she was.
When William moved closer to the container surface, trying to see the black-haired girl inside, an ancient oppressive feeling swept over from beside him, causing the fish scales on the walls of the whole laboratory to tremble wildly and click ominously.
Just as William turned his head, an arm covered with dense fish scales had already landed on his shoulder.
An irresistible ancient illness spread within his body,
Williams wanted to stop it but then heard surging, intense, epic music;
standing behind him was the only Plague Master who had survived in the Arc Sea.
"Fish Origin - Nazjatar"
William’s body could not resist the onslaught of the disease and instantly turned to fish scales, and he was casually thrown into the cylindrical container before him,
the unique deliciousness emanating from the fish scales triggered the girls’ intense appetite, and they began to frenziedly gnaw at his flesh.
The black-haired girl, being younger, was left with only his head in the end.
She held William’s head, hesitated for a mont, but ultimately bit into it.
In the last mont before his brain was chewed away, William finally rembered the black-haired girl’s na—Catherine.
...Buzz!
Slick, thick tentacles laden with suckers enveloped William’s body, writhing and sucking at every part of him.
A voice full of malice yet not devoid of allure ca from the tip of the tentacles,
"You’re awake now, William."
