In the laboratory
The "Dead Spine Lake" was contributed and soaked in a mild decomposition liquid that didn’t cause him any harm.
Under Reagan’s leadership, Yi Chen assisted from the side, they conducted ceaseless research on the Death Plague,
such that the al boxes delivered outside the laboratory door piled up in layers, yet the two felt no exhaustion, nor hunger, obscured by the gradually advancing research results.
During this process, Reagan again beca a handso young fellow;
any ntal or physical exhaustion was utilized by the body, converting fat into energy to assist,
As for Yi Chen, he was long accustod to the sensation of an empty stomach. At the orphanage before his life, it was common to go without food for days.
Many of his young companions would be so hungry it led to ntal disorders and organ dysfunction.
Perhaps due to genetic inheritance, Yi Chen slowly grew accustod to protracted hunger, his body able to adapt from a young age to a state of not taking in energy from outside.
Two days vanished in an instant amid the busy research,
Both were still oblivious to the passage of ti, only feeling the research slowly moving forward, the truth of the Death Plague being uncovered, sothing that enlivened their spirits was being gradually revealed.
Even the great Hipppocrates Hospital had only superficially recorded the "Death Plague";
they hadn’t conducted detailed research on the illness, the reason being very simple: real victims had not appeared before, only starting to erge recently.
If they could write a paper on the Death Plague, it would surely be included in the organization’s important library and be rewarded accordingly.
However, on the night of the second day,
Yi Chen, who was sitting at the experintal table, one hand recording and checking experint data, the other writing conclusions related to "contagiousness," suddenly heard a strong ringing in his ears.
Drip~
A clump of black, sticky liquid overflowed from his nostrils and fell on the experint paper he was writing on, a type of blood mixed with brain matter, also tainted with Yi Chen’s unique "previous life death".
Clearly,
this was caused by not eating for two days and the high intensity of brain work resulted in fatigue, even brain damage.
But...
Yi Chen rely froze in place, silently observing the special blood continuously flowing from his nostrils,
His thoughts seed to be drawn to a ti before his life, a deeply suppressed mory was being slowly unlocked.
Recalling the real mory fragnts before death, nurous images flashed back rapidly in his brain, Yi Chen felt as if he was restrained, fixed in a dark, bizarre laboratory.
It wasn’t because of writing a paper that he died, but being used as ’material for soone’s paper’ that ultimately led to his death. It was just this segnt of real mory that was modified and obscured.
Besides Yi Chen, there were other living materials in the laboratory, these ’materials’ were not normal humans.
They all had the ’death’ trait like Yi Chen to a greater or lesser degree, they would be labeled "strange" if they were in society.
Now they were all imprisoned here, used as special experintal materials.
Their skulls were all exposed, their brains left in various lethal environnts for long periods, providing relevant experintal data.
So had parasites that could bore holes and consu brains, even laying eggs within the skull cavity,
Others treated the brain as a cultivation plate, breeding different types of pathogens in the grooves of the brain,
Others directly injected potent viruses into the brain like rabies, Ebola, and so on.
A ’Tutor’ responsible for this project would regularly record the status of each material, and even after the experints ended, rescue and supplent the surviving materials with nutrients.
Just as Yi Chen wanted to clearly see the face of the Tutor in his mory,
"William!"
A strong ntal stimulant penetrated directly into the brain, pulling Yi Chen’s thoughts back to reality.
The diverged pupils refocused, returning to the laboratory filled with electronic light and the mist of the Death Plague,
Standing before him was no longer a dark shadow, but a skinny Reagan with cheeks so sunken they resembled dry bones, in his eyes was an emotion nad urgency and concern.
At the sa ti, Yi Chen’s clothes and the seat below were covered with the black bodily fluid that had flowed from his nostrils.
"William, let’s put our research on hold for now. Your thoughts just now seed to leave your physical body, and there was even a strong tendency toward death, which really scared
to death."
"Moreover, just now, all the flagella of the Death Plague bacteria in the laboratory were pointing at you... What on earth is going on?"
Yi Chen, however, replied as if it were nothing out of the ordinary, "Hmm, I was recalling sothing from the past related to death, got a bit distracted. How long have we been in the lab now?"
"Two days and three hours."
"It seems we do indeed need a rest."
"I’ve already applied for the highest level of nutritional rest chamber for you, and a staff mber will take you there... I can still hold on a little longer, just need to finish up the last bit.
Perhaps when you wake up, you’ll be able to see the draft that’s to be prepared."
"Okay..."
Yi Chen accepted the arrangent, suspended in a chamber filled with nutrient solution, wearing a breathing apparatus.
Just before falling asleep, the corners of his mouth slightly curled up,
"I didn’t expect to have such an unexpected gain, this mory more hidden than the Orphanage has finally been ’uncovered’, I hope to see its full panorama soon.
Then perhaps I’ll be able to understand the origin of the black Death Liquid inside
and the real cause of death."
...
Whoosh~
When Yi Chen awoke in the chamber, just as he put on his clothing and stepped out, the manuscript completed by Reagan landed squarely on his chest.
"Take a look when you have the ti, it’s a very interesting bacterium... I can’t hold on any longer, planning to lie down for a couple of days. Rember to notify
before participating in the First Gentleman’s assessnt, and if possible, take
to the scene.
As for the completion of the paper, it will need so more revisions before submitting later."
"You’ve worked hard, Reagan."
"As long as this can potentially help Faye, a bit more tiredness doesn’t matter, thanks for your assistance, William!"
After bidding farewell to Reagan,
Yi Chen returned to the forr lab to secure the Dead Spine,
and sat alone at the experint table, beginning to read the Death Plague manuscript that Reagan had independently organized and written.
The first Chapter detailed the essence of Death Plague bacteria and also renad this bacterium based on current bacteriology.
Because the paper involved many technical terms and detailed descriptions necessary for a comprehensive understanding by related researchers, I will not reiterate here, the following is a summary:
The essence of Death Plague is a highly contagious disease caused by "Dead Gangrene Mist Bacteria
