Chapter 210: Zede's Past

On the way back to school, Yi Chen’s thoughts gradually shifted from the Relic to White-haired Lotson,

Lotson’s appearance in Zion indicated that he had undergone the sa full set of tests as Yi Chen, and he must have passed both the physical and ntal assessnts.

But…

Yi Chen’s intuition about people, inherited from his previous life, wasn’t wrong; he could sense that there was a big problem with Lotson.

Carrying his doubts, he arrived at the Twin Towers of the Velsman Teaching Building,

Just as Yi Chen was about to head to the basent lab to see Professor Zede, he was stopped by the building’s security.

...

“I’m sorry, Hogni Zede is undergoing a joint assessnt by the school and the organization’s inspection team. Zede’s underground office is temporarily closed, and entry is forbidden.”

Yi Chen was alard, “A joint assessnt? Has teacher Zede done sothing wrong?”

Yi Chen imdiately associated the joint assessnt with himself since his trip to the Old World had taken too long, leading the organization to declare him “missing.”

After learning of this, Zede didn’t care about his own state of confinent and forcibly left the city to head towards Holy Grail Mountain, resulting in a direct conflict with the organization.

“That’s not it. Zede has been performing exceptionally well lately, and his responsibility for the Pathology course has drawn high praise from the Principal and the top-tier of external organizations.

A week ago, he quickly resolved a potentially severe and even deadly student conflict incident while wandering around the school.

He effectively subdued the perpetrator, maintained order on the scene without a single injury, and turned all the conflicting parties over to the school for handling.

If this assessnt goes well, Zede will be granted a few hours each week to leave school.”

“Oh… I see! That’s good.”

Not long after their casual conversation,

A black shadow flashed quickly, and with a heavy slap on Yi Chen’s back.

The slap sent him flying into the straight corridor of the teaching building, rolling several tis before crashing into the wall at the end.

A familiar mummified voice ca:

“I knew you’d be fine, kid. The sensation of slapping your back was very unique! Your body has beco much harder than before, and it seems you’ve added sothing else too, quite a gain!”

Yi Chen didn’t say much, just got up and lowered his head, “Congratulations to teacher Zede on getting the opportunity for activities outside school.”

“Only three hours a week, it’s nothing to be excited about, it almost feels like just a round trip by car…” Zede said that, but the smile on his face didn’t fade.

The ‘master and disciple’ duo returned to the familiar basent,

Zede didn’t bother asking what Yi Chen had gained, and instead dragged him to the fighting ring in paradise, where they could understand specific details through physical exchange.

However.

Clang~ With the Thorny Iron Chain dragging on the ground, Zede’s eager movents suddenly halted, and his expression turned extrely ugly, his killing intent palpable.

“You… have you been to the Monastery?”

“No.”

“Indeed, if you had truly been to the Monastery, it would not be possible for you to co back here. Those guys are very strict about controlling the Iron Chains, they wouldn’t let you leave the Monastery interior with a chain.

What’s the deal with the chains on your body?”

From Zede’s sudden change in emotions and weighty words, Yi Chen could sense that he must have had so interaction with the Monastery.

After Yi Chen narrated the entire process of his journey in the Old World,

Zede’s emotions gradually settled, and even a smile of excitent spread across his face.

“Three Monks failed to capture you and bring you back? Your Patient friend must be quite formidable… It’s a pity you haven’t broken through your limit, otherwise, together with your friend, it would have been even better if you had killed the Monks outright.”

“Has teacher Zede ever fought with those Monks?”

“Not only have I fought with them, but I have also personally visited the Monastery. My ‘Eye’ was lost there. For every loss, there’s sothing to gain; my ability to freely control my body and experience Pain cos from the special suffering I endured during that ti.”

“What! You’ve been to the Monastery.”

“It’s just a shaful matter. Back then, to protect Beili and the others, I was captured by those monks in the depths of the Grey Zone. I don’t want to talk about the details; it’s all very unpleasant mories.”

As he spoke, Zede prodded his forehead with his finger.

“My sotis uncontrollable ntal state is also due to that special experience during that ti.

However, there’s one thing I’m quite proud of. As far as I know, many humans and Patients like

were captured and taken to the Monastery for iron chain-related illness modifications, and only a very few survived and beca one of them.

Not only did I endure the infusion of the Iron Chains and lived, but I also beca the Monastery’s only “Escapee.”

To avoid being located and tracked by those monks, I painstakingly pulled out all the iron chains implanted inside my body, and it was this very process of removing the chains that taught

the ‘True aning of Suffering,’

This enlightennt is different from the Monastery’s; it’s sothing uniquely mine.”

A monk who happened upon

was promptly torn to pieces, and I managed to return here using a nearby passage.”

One day, I will go back and settle the score.”

Zede’s words left Yi Chen utterly baffled, and he began to understand why the Organization and the Academy chose not to execute Zede but instead imprisoned him and listed him as “Special Record Combat Power.”

“You pulled out the Iron Chains from your body yourself, and even grasped the true aning of suffering?”

Zede stepped forward, reached out, and touched the Iron Chains on Yi Chen’s arm, “You better not try anything foolish like I did; even now, I wouldn’t want to go through that a second ti… And I can tell that the Iron Chains in you are different.

Your integration thod is not the sa as the ‘Burying’ or ‘Bone Replacent’ used inside the Monastery.

The Thorny Iron Chain should first combine with your original Plant Disease, and then, using the frawork system pre-embedded by the plant, directly proceed with the replacent.

Your Physical Trait that you learned from

should also help you adeptly control such an iron chain system.

Once you break through your Limit, you should be able to sever the chains’ connection to the Monastery, and then, even if you venture to the Old World, you won’t have to worry about them tracking you down.

Iron Chains are valuable tools; otherwise, those Monastery guys wouldn’t have a foothold in the Old World.

Not to ntion that the Iron Chains in you are of a higher grade Needle Chain.”

“Huh? There are different levels of Iron Chains?”

“I’m not too clear on the specific grades myself, but I’ve seen all sorts of weird and peculiar chains. Needle Chains like yours, however, I’ve only seen on an individual who obviously ranked much higher than an Ordinary Monk.

Make good use of this tool; perhaps you could achieve a constitution completely different from mine.

From now on, as teacher and student, we can join forces to uproot the Monastery entirely from the Old World! Stop wasting ti, start practicing… It’s been a long ti since I’ve felt the pain of being lashed by Iron Chains; give

sothing to reminisce about.”

Zede imdiately took off his top and started working with Yi Chen,

The paradise was filled with the sounds of whipping, collisions, and various strange cheers and laughter.

Four hours passed.

Zede draped his shirt over his shoulder and walked over to the refrigerator to grab two soda bottles, tossing one in the direction of the slowly rotating fan.

Clack! Hanging on to the fan above, Yi Chen, drained of energy, caught it in one hand.

During the rest break,

Yi Chen brought up a topic he had always been concerned about.

“Teacher Zede, is there a possibility that a gentleman could be deeply affected by Pathological influences or the Patients, but go undetected by Zion’s existing quarantine asures?”

“The probability is small, but possible.

The gentleman’s Physical body shows no signs of illness, and is even completely the sa as before. Only the consciousness is perfectly invaded, inheriting all the mory.

Why? Do you suspect soone is not quite right?

If you’re certain, you can submit that person’s information to the Organization; they will initiate an investigation imdiately.”

“Okay, I got it.”
