Chapter 207: Secret Room
Omphalo-Centric-Academy, Qian Bosen’s office.
A miniature chest made of Old World gold was placed on the desk. Qian Bosen attempted to unlock it by channeling controllable wind into the keyhole.
As the gentle breeze poured in, a large amount of golden liquid overflowed and clogged the keyhole.
“Such a thing could never exist on the surface of the Old World. William, have you been to deeper regions? Even I have never seen such sophisticated processing thods of Old World gold. It’s too clever.”
“It’s about this…”
Qian Bosen was absolutely trustworthy. Yi Chen did not hide anything and detailed his random encounter with the “Old World rchant” and his gambling.
...
“I didn’t expect you to have such an opportunity. Perhaps it’s the good luck brought by residing with Patient Zero.”
For a mont, Qian Bosen’s “Owl’s Eye” seed to see endless possibilities in Yi Chen.
“Professor, would you like to see this relic?”
“This is your private property. If you wish, you may show it to .”
Yi Chen took out a golden key from within himself and inserted it into the lock.
An alien magic cube with ‘maze-type’ cerebral sulcus patterns erged. Its unique structure quickly imrsed Qian Bosen, even allowing him glimpses of so indescribable frantic visions.
“To have such a refined relic!
Relics are often by-products born alongside Old World life forms as they complete a significant stage of growth.
These by-products record their growth process and the remaining essence, most of which are quite obvious, allowing one to determine their precise category and function at a glance, such as the umbilical cord you initially obtained.
This magic cube is entirely different, hiding its traits within.
To truly utilize this relic, to leverage it to break through the ‘Limit of Man,’ one must first decipher and decode it.
It might take so ti, and unknown pathogens may erge during the decoding process, even triggering so Pathological Mutations.
This is what we’ll do! I will arrange a sealed chamber in the lower streets where you can decode the magic cube when you have ti.”
“Thank you, Professor.”
“Furthermore, due to the special circumstances of the ‘Relic Incident,’ staff from the Gentleman Hall might subject you to so basic queries and psychological tests.
If they ask about how you acquired the relic, this is your private matter, and you can choose not to answer.
If it becos rather troubleso, you can reveal the ‘Black Umbilical Cord.’ However, the matter of the magic cube must not be exposed at Zion.
The value of a Three Attribute Relic is imasurable; it can evoke the greed hidden deep within human hearts and will undoubtedly lead to trouble.”
“Understood.”
“I will now start preparing the ‘Sealed Chamber.’ I’ll notify you when it’s ready.
You’d better go and see Tutor Beili. Her student couldn’t make it back with you all, and as the temporary captain, you need to explain the situation to her.”
“Alright.”
Before leaving, Qian Bosen heavily patted Yi Chen on the shoulder.
…
Cesimani
In the office filled with showcases full of fingers,
Black long legs were casually propped on the desk. As Jin recounted the events,
“If Jin followed the growth direction of Red Lotus, there shouldn’t be a problem. She wouldn’t die. The worst-case scenario is that she can’t be defined as ‘human’ and can’t return to the organization.
After all, she has never considered Zion her ho, so it doesn’t really matter.
Let her be~”
At this point, Yi Chen had a question: “About Jin’s Pathological Traits—’Red Lotus,’ I’ve heard her ntion it before, seemingly related to ‘father’… What exactly does the illness correspond to?”
“It belongs to one of the extrely dangerous ‘cancer’ diseases, almost a dominant existence among physical diseases. Throughout the organization’s history, only a few gentlen have managed to control such illnesses.
This relates to Jin’s tragic childhood; you will need to find out more on your own, assuming she can still co back.”
“Hmm, I actually believe that Jin will return.”
“Are you so certain? It seems this journey has brought the two of you closer together~”
As they spoke, Tutor Beili seed to want to discuss so private matters with Yi Chen, employing the sa tactic as before.
Her foot, clad in black stockings, flashed instantly,
clutching Yi Chen’s tie and trying to pull him onto the desk.
But this ti was different,
Instructor Beili received a very intuitive feedback—”heaviness.”
Compared to before, this ti it felt like she was dragging the weight of ten Yi Chens, almost causing her toes to cramp.
“Why have you beco so heavy? It’s not just the weight increase, but also a kind of physical steadiness… Don’t just stand there, give
a massage before my toes cramp up,” she said.
Being dragged to the desk, Yi Chen couldn’t refuse and had to use both hands to knead her calves slowly.
“Your physique must be reaching its limit by now, right? And even if it’s at its limit, it shouldn’t be this heavy… Has your body undergone so fundantal changes during your journey in the Old World?”
“Yes,” he replied.
“What changes; show .”
Yi Chen didn’t hide anything, after all, Instructor Beili was sowhat his tutor.
While one hand kept massaging,
the other hand grew a segnt of thorny iron chain from the palm,
The mont the iron chain appeared, Beili instinctively jumped back, pulling a special weapon that could change length from under the desk.
Had it been a stranger instead of Yi Chen, Beili might have directly slit their throat and beheaded them.
The density of illness emitted from the thorny iron chain far exceeded normal standards, only seen in such mutant chain-like patterns in the Old World.
Yi Chen hurriedly explained, “Instructor Beili, the plant disease originally in my body mutated into this iron chain after getting infected by substances from the Old World.”
“Pain… This kind of iron chain brings pain, doesn’t it?”
“Yes,” he confird.
“I knew it! Harboring such a thing inside the body, any other gentleman would have died hundreds of tis over. Probably only Zede and you with such physiques could tolerate this disease.
Your gains from this trip are indeed astonishing; I can’t even imagine the state you’ll achieve after transcending the limit.
I initially thought about sparring with you, but now it’s better not to; a hit from this thing is enough to keep
in pain for several days and nights. You’d better go back and have a good ‘discussion’ with Zede.”
“Yes,” he agreed.
“When you’re ready to transcend, if you’re willing to publicly demonstrate it, rember to let
know.”
“Do you still need
to massage your leg?”
Instructor Beili bent down herself, poked her calf, and said, “Don’t… I don’t want to get my calf pierced by a steel needle. You probably have many things to handle since you just returned to town, so go take care of other matters.”
“Alright.”
After parting with the instructor,
Yi Chen imdiately headed to the Power Station to et Reagan and see what Relic the other had acquired.
Upon arrival, he was inford that Reagan was in an important phase of seclusion, located in the deepest part of the Charge Zone of the Power Station, approved by the director himself.
eting him would likely have to wait until after Reagan’s breakthrough.
As Yi Chen was preparing to head back to the academy to et Zede,
Goo-Goo~
A white owl had in the blink of an eye perched itself on Yi Chen’s shoulder, guiding him toward the ‘decoding-chamber’ prepared by Qian Bosen.
The chamber was located next to the Naless Clothing Store, in a secluded shopfront that had been unrented for many years.
If any major disturbances arose during the decoding, Ivan, the owner of the clothing store, could co out to manage the situation.
The shop filled with spider webs contained bizarre mannequins borrowed from the clothing store by Qian Bosen, and had a rusty sign that read—”Naless Warehouse,” disguised as a rental compartnt for storing excess mannequins of the clothing store.
Passing by the human mannequins, he touched a hidden button between the floor tiles, and a pathway to the basent opened up.
The basent, unused for several years, had been tidily arranged by Qian Bosen using Wind Magic,
The walls and floor cracks were all sealed, and the sound of wind around the ears signified that the barrier was established.
“Ivan will handle any surface issues. If the Wind Barrier gets breached, I will also co over imdiately.
You just focus on your decoding work here.”
“Thank you, Professor.”
“Keep up this state and strive to exceed our estimated standards,” he said.
After Qian Bosen left, Yi Chen brought over a chair to sit in the center of the basent,
and under the oil lamp hanging above, he began his first session of Relic decoding.
