Before he finished speaking, he pursed his lips, and fresh red blood spilled from the corner of his mouth.

Jiuliang inwardly cursed, wanting to stop him but was a step too late.

Qian Mian’s eyes widened, his body tilted, and he fell to the side.

"Bang—"

Wei Xi stepped forward, bent down, and reached out to check his nose.

He was already dead.

He stood up and gave Jiuliang a slight shake of his head.

Just monts ago, he seed desperate to live; now, he had gone ahead and ended himself.

Jiuliang furrowed her brows, ready to speak, when a wave of turbulence in her stomach surged, and the nauseous feeling she had barely suppressed erged again.

She turned away, unable to hold back the retching.

"Ugh—"

Mohan’s eyes narrowed with concern; he quickly walked to her side, "What’s wrong?"

The sudden wave of nausea was particularly intense; Jiuliang couldn’t find the breath to answer and just waved her hand.

She leaned over, supporting herself on Mohan’s arm.

"Ugh—"

Feeling nauseous yet unable to vomit anything out.

Mohan’s expression grew anxious as he didn’t know what was wrong with her.

anwhile, Wei Xi was also dumbfounded.

Could the lady have been disgusted by Qian Mian’s death? He wondered with his wild imagination.

"Ugh—"

Unable to stand the sll inside, Jiuliang quickly walked out.

Clueless, Mohan could only follow her.

As Jiuliang walked, she kept retching, and seeing her in such a state, Mohan felt distressed; he simply picked her up and hastened their pace outward.

Outside the dungeon, the air was much fresher, and Jiuliang felt like she had co back to life.

The nauseous feeling diminished considerably; she tilted her head, resting it on Mohan’s shoulder.

"Do you still feel unwell? Should we go to the hospital?" Mohan asked, looking down at her, his eyes full of worry.

Jiuliang shook her head, her eyes reddened from the severe retching, "It’s okay, the sll inside was just too pungent; it made uncomfortable."

Mohan realized suddenly, rembering sothing he had read about how many pregnant won have strong reactions to slls.

Especially the phenonon of morning sickness.

He couldn’t help but feel annoyed; had he known her reaction would be so severe, he wouldn’t have brought her here, it scared him to death.

Wei Xi ca out after them, relieved to see that Jiuliang had finally stopped throwing up.

"Wei Xi, dispose of him," Mohan ordered coldly.

Wei Xi didn’t need to ask who "he" was.

"Understood."

He took a step forward and opened the car door for them.

Mohan placed Jiuliang in the car and fastened her seatbelt.

Then, he shut the car door, walked around to the other side, and got in.

The engine started, and the car sped away.

Wei Xi averted his gaze and turned back to the dungeon.

**

For the first ti experiencing morning sickness, Jiuliang was still a bit dazed.

All the way, she couldn’t muster any energy, feeling listless.

Mohan drove with one hand on the steering wheel, the other holding her hand.

He glanced at her distractedly and softened his voice, "Do you want to eat sothing?"

"I’m not hungry," Ye Jiuliang mumbled.

"Roast lamb chops, want so?" Seeing the vulnerable look on the cub’s face, Li Mochan was both heartbroken and anxious, and then tried to coax her with food.

"That restaurant recomnded by Burn, the lamb chops are good, didn’t you say you wanted to eat them the other day?"

Ye Jiuliang still shook her head.

If even lamb chops didn’t work, it seed she was still feeling upset.

Li Mochan reached out and touched her head, "Then, how about we go for fried chicken?"

This ti, Ye Jiuliang hesitated, but in the end, she couldn’t resist the temptation of fried chicken and nodded.

Li Mochan breathed a sigh of relief, feeling for the first ti that fried chicken could actually be sowhat useful.

Monts later, Li Mochan ca out of the fast-food restaurant carrying a large bag.

Opening the car door, he handed the bag to Ye Jiuliang, then got into the car himself.

"Eat it while it’s hot, don’t let it get cold," he said.

After sitting in the car for a while, Ye Jiuliang’s complexion regained its rosiness, and she finally ca back to her senses.

With the familiar aroma wafting to her nose, Ye Jiuliang’s eyes brightened as she opened the bag; besides fried chicken, there were also fries and other things.

"Li Mochan, you’re not yourself today, buying so much?" she said with a gentle voice.

Usually, when she ate this stuff, he would often call it junk food and tell her to eat less but now he had bought her so much.

eting her bright, cold gaze, Li Mochan was helpless, reaching out to lightly flick her nose, "Don’t expect this to happen again."

She had heard this many tis before and was immune to it; Ye Jiuliang let it go in one ear and out the other.

She put on a pair of disposable gloves, picked up a piece of fried chicken, and bit into it with a "crunch," crispy and delicious.

The taste was heavenly.

"Do you want to try so?" she asked.

Li Mochan shook his head, a faint smile on his lips, "Enjoy it yourself."

Knowing he hardly ever ate such things, Ye Jiuliang didn’t insist and joyfully continued to munch.

Her mind wandering, Ye Jiuliang slowed her chewing of the chicken, her gaze becoming complex, "Mohan, do you really think Mo Yuan and I look alike?"

Li Mochan was taken aback, slowing down the car.

He turned to glance at her, "Why do you ask all of a sudden?"

"I ran into Mo Yuan at a hotpot restaurant a couple of days ago." Ye Jiuliang put the chicken bone back in the bag and reached for a juice box, sipping through the straw in a lukewarm tone.

"He has a scar on his hand that’s just like my father’s, in the sa place, even the shape left by the suture is exactly the sa."

On hearing this, Li Mochan’s cold eyes narrowed slightly. Such a coincidence?

He bluntly asked, "Do you suspect that Mo Yuan is your father?"

"I don’t want to think that way, but there are too many coincidences that I can’t help but think it," Ye Jiuliang said with a drooping brow and voice filled with sorrow.

If Mo Yuan was indeed her father, what would that make Mo Yu?

Mo Su was a year older than her; what exactly had happened back then?

It always felt like she was one step closer to the mystery, only to be faced with an even bigger riddle.

"I’ve done the paternity test, just waiting for the results now."

Li Mochan suddenly understood why she had insomnia the night before, nine tis out of ten, it was because of this issue.

"Are you afraid that Mo Yuan is your father?"

"For so many years, I’ve always hoped I could find him, that he is alive. As long as he is alive, even if he has beco Mo Yuan, I’ll accept it," Ye Jiuliang forced a smile, but it was tinged with bitterness.

If Mo Su was a year older than her, it ant her father knew Mo Yu a long ti ago, and only her father would know the complicated relationship between them.

If the paternity test results co back and Mo Yuan is indeed her father, who would she side with when faced against the Mo Family, would it be Mo Yu’s side or hers?

She couldn’t be sure, because the current Mo Yuan was not the sa as Ye Yuan from the past.

Ti changes, and so things and people, I’m afraid, can never go back to how they once were.

He tightened his grip on her hand, his clear voice rising next to her ear, "No matter the result, you have , and we have our cub. The two of us will protect you."

The air of sadness dissipated, and Ye Jiuliang laughed, her smile blooming brightly.
