The dining room was filled with the aroma of coffee.

Grandma Jiang wiped her mouth with a tissue and asked, "Has Asheng not woken up yet?"

Veya sipped her coffee, the flavor lingering on her lips, "She should be up by now, probably getting washed up."

Grandma Jiang sighed, "Without Xiaojiu, the house seems so much emptier."

It hadn’t been very noticeable before, but since Xiaojiu ca around, everyone had grown accustod to the liveliness, and it felt strange to be without it now.

Veya smiled and took a bowl to serve her so porridge.

"So Grandma has been missing that much," ca a warm voice filled with mirth from the doorway.

Both Grandma Jiang and Veya’s faces lit up with joy as they turned towards the entrance, where the young woman peaked in.

Her delicate face was brimming with a smile— it was none other than Ye Jiuliang.

"Xiaojiu," Grandma Jiang, her face crinkling with a smile, hurried over, her voice brimming with excitent.

Ye Jiuliang stepped in briskly, with Li Mochan following behind her.

"Grandma, Aunt."

"Xiaojiu, when did you co back, and why didn’t you say anything?" Grandma Jiang took her hand and fussed over her, "You seem to have lost so weight; do you find the food outside not to your liking?"

Ye Jiuliang raised her hand to pinch her own chin, her lips curving into a smile, "Have I lost weight?"

"Yes, you look like you’ve lost so," Veya chid in with a smile as she set down another pair of bowls and chopsticks.

"The child has taken all the nutrients," Li Mochan suddenly spoke up, throwing out his statent casually like a bombshell.

The room fell into a sudden silence as if ti had stopped.

Ye Jiuliang glanced at Li Mochan, her mouth pressingly subtly concealed laughter.

A child?

Grandma Jiang and Veya looked at each other in shock.

Blinking their eyes, it took them a good while to process the news.

Seeing their dumbfounded looks, Ye Jiuliang reached out and lightly tapped Li Mochan’s chest, "You now."

Now that there’s a little one, Mr. Li Five is about to beco a show-off dad.

Li Mochan raised an eyebrow, the corner of his lips curling with an even prouder smile.

After a long while, it was Veya who first snapped back to reality. She turned to Ye Jiuliang, her eyes shining with surprise, "Xiaojiu, you’re pregnant?"

Ye Jiuliang nodded, confirming it.

Next to her, Grandma Jiang finally caught up, her excitent making her nearly incoherent, "You-you-you, I-I-I..."

"Mom, don’t get too excited, take a breath before you speak." Veya gently patted her back, worried the old lady might get too worked up for her own health.

"Xiaojiu, you really have a baby?" Grandma Jiang stepped forward, grabbing Ye Jiuliang’s hand, her breath uneven and her words filled with boundless excitent.

Ye Jiuliang pulled out a chair and helped her to sit down, "Yes, there’s a baby."

"I don’t want to sit, you sit, you sit," Grandma Jiang stood up, pushing her down onto the chair, staring intently at her flat abdon as if her great-grandchild would jump out the next second.

Ye Jiuliang couldn’t help but be both amused and moved; she had feared they would be too excited, which is why she hadn’t ntioned it right away.

"Xiaojiu, have you had breakfast?" Grandma Jiang grinned from ear to ear, as if her smile could reach the back of her head.

"What would you like to eat? I’ll ask Aju to make it for you."

Not wanting them to go to any trouble, Ye Jiuliang quickly intervened, "Grandma, I’ll just eat this. You guys should sit down and have breakfast too."

Grandma Jiang smiled, her eyes crinkled, as she sat back down, but her gaze never left Ye Jiuliang.

"Xiaojiu, you’re too skinny. You just stay put here for a while. Grandma will make you so delicious food to build up your strength."

"Exactly, Xiaojiu, you have to be especially careful during the first three months," Veya echoed.

Ye Jiuliang nodded and agreed with each point.

The old ladies were all in high spirits; she was fine with agreeing for now since there didn’t seem to be anything urgent that she needed to do.

One had to wait for the right mont to bait a snake out of its hole—these things couldn’t be rushed.

Li Mochan had been treated like he was invisible the whole ti, his presence felt almost colder than today’s temperature.

Jiang Yisheng ca downstairs for a al and entered the dining room, seeing the two with their backs turned to him, he showed a slight surprise, "Cousin, Jiuliang?"

"Asheng, morning," Ye Jiuliang turned and waved at him.

"Morning." Jiang Yisheng ruffled his hair, the soft strands falling on his forehead added an extra touch of docility.

Approaching, and seeing the beaming smiles on the faces of the ladies, Jiang Yisheng was sowhat puzzled, "Grandma, did you find so money? You all look so happy."

"It’s even better than finding money," the old Mrs. Jiang said excitedly, "You’re about to beco an uncle."

"Huh?" Jiang Yisheng froze for a mont. He was going to be an uncle?

After considering her words carefully, Jiang Yisheng’s gaze quickly shifted to Ye Jiuliang, and he said in disbelief, "Jiuliang, you... you..."

The beautiful, androgynous face showed a dumbfounded expression, which looked quite comical.

Ye Jiuliang couldn’t help but laugh, "Yes, it’s exactly what you think."

Having digested the surprise, Jiang Yisheng smiled gently, tenderness seeping through his eyes and brows.

They had only been apart for a short while, and now he was going to be an uncle; it felt like a dream.

Li Mochan glanced at him and said in a low voice, "Rember to prepare a red envelope."

His little wolf cub loved red envelopes and he had to get her a few more.

Jiang Yisheng couldn’t help but chuckle, saying generously, "Alright, I’ll wrap up the money for the baby formula too."

"The formula money has already been covered by Aqian," Ye Jiuliang lightly laughed, ntioning it offhandedly.

Look how popular her little one was; people were rushing to provide for the baby formula.

Though the speaker might not have ant much, the listener read deeply between the lines—Jiang Yisheng’s eyes flickered with an unnad darkness. Didn’t he co with them to M country this ti?

"Asheng, Ji Mingqian said to rember to invite him to a al if you get a girlfriend," Li Mochan said calmly as he took a napkin and wiped his mouth.

Jiang Yisheng paused, looked up, and t Li Mochan’s piercing dark eyes. Sothing in his heart clenched, as if the secrets buried inside were laid bare before him.

He awkwardly averted his gaze, mumbling, "Don’t mind him, he’s always one al short of money."

Li Mochan’s brows lifted slightly, and after a fixed gaze, he let the topic drop.

Having eaten almost enough, Ye Jiuliang lost her appetite and put down her chopsticks, "Asheng, how’s your hand recovering?"

"Almost there, but I still can’t drive or lift heavy objects; it needs more ti to heal," Jiang Yisheng lifted his hand and shook it a bit, saying nonchalantly.

Ye Jiuliang said, "I’ll check it for you later."

Jiang Yisheng nodded, responding with an affirmative.

"Xiaojiu, you’ve only eaten so little, are you full?" the old Mrs. Jiang looked at the amount she ate, which was similar to before, and asked gently.

"Is it because these dishes don’t suit your taste?"

"No, no, I really am full. I don’t eat much for breakfast," Ye Jiuliang explained.

"Mohan can vouch for that; I always eat like this."

As she spoke, she nudged Li Mochan with her elbow.

"Right, Mohan?"

Li Mochan humd an affirmation, "Grandma, you guys eat; I’ll take her for a walk in the courtyard."
