Rumors outside grew more and more intense, but Ye Jiuliang had no heart to care about them, spending the whole day without leaving Li Mochan’s side.
At noon, Ji Mingqian still ca over with food.
Stepping into the room, he turned to look at the silently sitting woman, her slender silhouette enveloped in somber loneliness.
From a young age until now, Ji Mingqian had truly never seen such a dispirited and despondent Ye Jiuliang, her entire being in a state of extre tension, and Li Mochan was the string that supported her. If that string broke, she might also fall into madness.
Ji Mingqian pursed his thin lips, a barely noticeable sigh covered by the sound of footsteps.
Approaching the sofa, he placed the food container on the table and called out loudly, "Ajiu, co and eat."
The figure sitting not far away remained still as ever.
After setting up the bowls and chopsticks, seeing that she still hadn’t co over, he turned and walked towards her.
Face to face, seeing clearly the shadows under her eyelids, Ji Mingqian softened his voice, "Ajiu, how about this, you go eat, and I’ll watch Li Mochan for you. If there’s any movent, I’ll call you imdiately."
Ye Jiuliang’s curled eyelashes trembled lightly, her voice hoarse and barely recognizable, "I’m not hungry."
Ji Mingqian frowned, his voice tinged with anger as he chided softly, "You only had two bites for breakfast, and you haven’t rested since yesterday, how can you not be hungry? Hurry up and eat."
As he spoke, he reached out and grasped Ye Jiuliang’s arm, lifting it up.
The forceful strength caused Ye Jiuliang to stand up.
Almost at the sa ti, her left hand was seized by a firm grip.
Ye Jiuliang’s spine stiffened, and she slowly lowered her head to see the man’s hand, cold as porcelain, clasping hers, his knuckles turning pale.
In an instant, Ye Jiuliang’s eyes trembled slightly, the corners tinged with a faint red.
Moving her gaze upward, the man’s deep, cold eyes were still tightly shut.
Beside her, Ji Mingqian stared blankly for quite a while.
After a long mont, he turned his head with difficulty, his eyes wide with shock as he looked at Ye Jiuliang, "Ajiu, he’s holding your hand."
Did the provocative words he said last night work on Li Mochan?
When he wakes up, will he co to fight with him? Ji Mingqian whimsically thought.
Ye Jiuliang blinked, hiding the mist in her eyes, and she tried to pull her hand away.
Despite several attempts, she couldn’t overco the man’s stubborn strength.
Ji Mingqian looked on, his eyes shining as if he was considering so devilish idea.
Raising his voice, he shouted at the man lying unconscious on the bed, "Li Mochan, holding onto Ajiu’s hand is no use. If you have the guts, just keep sleeping, and wait until Ajiu turns from Mrs. Li into Mrs. Ji. Let’s see you wake up then. After we’re married, and have a dozen kids, the boys will take Ajiu’s surna, and the girls will take mine."
"Adorable little cotton jackets, calling ’daddy’ every day, just think how wonderful that would be."
Even though she knew that Ji Mingqian was deliberately saying these things to anger Li Mochan, Ye Jiuliang couldn’t help but feel exasperated.
Suddenly, the hand holding hers tightened fiercely.
The uncontrolled strength hurt Ye Jiuliang, her brows furrowing slightly as she lightly kicked Ji Mingqian’s leg.
Didn’t he know her Li Mochan was a jealous type?
Her hand was about to be ruined.
As he was speaking with gusto, Ji Mingqian looked at her with a baffled face, "Why are you kicking ?"
"My hand," she emphasized.
Ji Mingqian, puzzled, looked down at her hand. Li Mochan was holding it so tightly that her fair skin had turned red.
He suddenly understood and felt an urge to laugh. It seed his words had worked; Li Mochan was angered by him.
"Should I continue or not?"
The grip on her hand did not lessen. Ye Jiuliang glanced at him and said, "Go stand over there."
Ji Mingqian snorted, "Ingrate."
While complaining, he was actually very compliant with his actions. Ji Mingqian brought the food over to the bedside table, "You better eat quickly. I’m going to grab so food and then I’ll co back."
After setting the bowls and chopsticks properly, Ji Mingqian finally left.
Ye Jiuliang looked at the man who was still asleep, her fingertips caressing his cheek, "Li Mochan, I know you can hear us talking, can’t you? If you wake up today, we won’t raise a big white goose anymore; we’ll raise a child instead, okay?"
She leaned in close, her rosy lips sealing his thin ones with a light peck, "It’s sealed with a kiss, I won’t go back on my word; can you please wake up soon?"
The large hand holding hers squeezed again, as if responding to her words. A look of surprise flashed in Ye Jiuliang’s eyes, and the long-restrained moisture finally fell in torrents.
She lifted her hand to hastily wipe away the tears on her face, barely managing to maintain a smile on her lips.
"Li Mochan, I’ll take that as your agreent. If you don’t wake up today, I’m really going to be angry," her hoarse voice tinged with a sob.
...
After changing his bandages, Jiang Yisheng received a phone call from Feng Yi on his way back and made a detour to Feng Group.
Entering the office, he found Feng Yi had just finished a video conference.
"How’s your hand?" Seeing Jiang Yisheng walking in slowly, Feng Yi stood up and walked over.
"It’s alright, just changed the dressing," said Jiang Yisheng.
"Any news from Ahan’s side?"
"Still hasn’t woken up."
Hearing this, Feng Yi frowned slightly, "Can Jiuliang do nothing about it?"
"Mingqian went to Mo Garden this morning, and according to him, Jiuliang has developed a new dicine. If my cousin doesn’t wake up by tonight, they will have him take it," said Jiang Yisheng.
There was a mont of silence before Feng Yi looked up at him. "Have you had lunch yet?"
"I was just about to head back after changing my dressing when you called."
"Perfect, I haven’t had lunch either. Let’s go together." Feng Yi stood up, picked up his coat and shook it out, then slowly put it on.
Grabbing the car keys off the table, the two n left the office together.
Having sent the family driver back ho, Jiang Yisheng naturally got into Feng Yi’s car.
With a cast on one hand, fastening the seatbelt was naturally a bit inconvenient.
Just as he buckled in, the phone in his pocket rang.
Smooth, soothing light music filled the car as Jiang Yisheng freed a hand to fish out his phone, a faint smile forming on his lips as his gaze landed on the screen’s note.
Swiping to answer the call, a familiar voice ca through. "Jiang Yisheng, will you co for lunch?"
Lunch?
Jiang Yisheng was surprised.
How did he find the ti?
"Who is it?" Feng Yi glanced at him curiously.
The clearly audible voice reached the other end of the phone, and Ji Mingqian’s brows furrowed slightly upon recognizing it as Feng Yi’s.
"Is Feng Yi by your side?"
Both spoke at once, and Jiang Yisheng didn’t know who to answer first.
He gave Feng Yi a light nod and then continued, "I’m about to go to lunch with Yi now."
Feng Yi interjected, "Ask Mingqian if he wants to co along. The more the rrier, it’d be good to get together."
Jiang Yisheng looked out the window, the scenery along the roadside reflecting in his eyes, "Do you want to co over and join us for a al?"
"Send the address," said Ji Mingqian, his eyes slightly narrowed and a teasing smile on his lips.
"Alright." After hanging up, Jiang Yisheng sent the address to Ji Mingqian.
Offhandedly, Feng Yi asked, "What does Mingqian want with you?"
Putting away his phone, Jiang Yisheng replied casually, "He’s asking out for a al."
"Who’s asking who?"
