After dinner, Mo Chen was called out by Ye Jiuliang.
The cold wind stirred the leaves, rustling softly.
The rain had stopped, filling the air with a faint scent of grass and trees.
Brushing the fallen leaves off the stone bench, Ye Jiuliang sat down directly.
Looking up, the young man was still standing outside the pavilion.
His hands were pressed tightly to his sides, his back straight, looking like he was bracing himself for a scolding.
Ye Jiuliang couldn’t help but laugh, "What are you standing there for, co over and sit."
Mo Chen acknowledged with an "Oh," climbed the steps, and sat down opposite her.
"Let’s chat," Ye Jiuliang said as she twisted the cap off a juice bottle and handed one to him.
"First things first, you can skip any question you don’t want to answer, but I won’t listen to lies."
Upon hearing this, Mo Chen’s heart started to pound.
Ye Jiuliang took a sip of her juice and looked toward the distant lake, "You have a sister, why do you still call ’sister’? Have you mistaken for soone else?"
"No." Mo Chen looked at her profile, his expression resolute, "You are Ye Jiuliang, and you are my sister, too."
"You already said my na is Ye Jiuliang; you’re surnad Mo and I’m surnad Ye, we aren’t family," Ye Jiuliang stressed.
Mo Chen was at a loss for words, wishing he could just blurt out the truth.
"Actually, I’ve investigated you," Ye Jiuliang said nonchalantly, dropping a bombshell.
Mo Chen’s eyes widened, and a mix of emotions churned within him.
"But other than so basic information about you, I couldn’t find anything else, not until Mo Su appeared, and then I realized you’re the young master of Tengyue Group," Ye Jiuliang continued.
"I’m sorry," Mo Chen said avoiding her gaze, too ashad to et her eyes.
He lowered his voice to a murmur, explaining, "I promised my family that I couldn’t reveal our situation to outsiders, or else I couldn’t stay in the capital."
His mother always kept her word; if he really broke the agreent, she would definitely have him taken back to Country F.
Ye Jiuliang glanced at him with a steady gaze and didn’t press the issue further.
"Your sister ca to MK Group today."
"I know."
"She wants to take advantage without investing anything, aims to get a share from MK Group without showing sincerity, and she’s calculating at every step. I gave her a piece of my mind, and then she left," Ye Jiuliang said.
Hearing this, Mo Chen hung his head in sha, "I’m sorry."
Ye Jiuliang glanced at him, her tone light and breezy, "It’s none of your business, why are you apologizing?"
She reached out and tugged at his hoodie with a crafty pull, "Lift your head up, a man should not always be ek and submissive."
Mo Chen’s head was forcibly raised, and he pursed his lips, "But will you dislike because of her?"
"Why are you worried about that?" Ye Jiuliang asked amusedly, teasing him, "What are you thinking? Mo Su is your own sister, surely you wouldn’t beco enemies with her for my sake, right?"
"I will protect you," Mo Chen said, his gaze fixed on her, eyes filled with determination.
"I an it, I will protect you."
The cold wind passed by, carrying the young man’s clear voice into the deep night.
The smile on Ye Jiuliang’s lips gradually faded, "What if one day I co to blows with Mo Su, what would you do? Stand by and watch, or help your sister fight against ?"
"I will stand by your side," he said without hesitation, offering a third option.
To protect her was a promise he intended to keep.
A suffocating silence followed, Ye Jiuliang stared at him, her eyes growing deeper.
"Don’t you believe what I’m saying?" Mo Chen asked, his expression filled with sadness, his tone revealing his dejection.
"It’s not that I don’t believe you, but there’s no reason," Ye Jiuliang said, shifting her gaze away, her voice cool.
"Mo Chen, what I just said wasn’t entirely to test you. Your sister has grand ambitions, if she crosses , I won’t go easy on her."
"Once she touches my bottom line, I will personally send her to hell, and I’m not joking with you,"
As the words fell, the temperature around them suddenly dropped, chilling one’s very heart.
A violent killing intent enveloped the air, vanishing in the blink of an eye as if it were his illusion.
Mo Chen turned pale, his mouth agape, unable to speak for a long while.
Ye Jiuliang sipped on his juice through a straw, patiently waiting for him to regain his composure.
After a while in silence, Mo Chen spoke softly, "Does it really have to be a fight to the death?"
"It’s very likely to be the case," Ye Jiuliang said indifferently.
If those n in black were really related to his family, she certainly wouldn’t let it go.
The last bit of hope in Mo Chen’s heart shattered, leaving his face ashen.
He was young, but he wasn’t foolish; Jiuliang wasn’t the type to be cruel and ruthless unless soone provoked her first.
Wasn’t his "Master Extinction" sister exactly provoking her?
Mo Chen blinked, concealing the complexity in his eyes.
The topic shifted abruptly, "Can I stay here for a few days?"
Ye Jiuliang raised an eyebrow at him, "You want to stay here?"
Mo Chen nodded.
"Why?" she asked.
A slight smile ford on Mo Chen’s lips, "It’s very warm here."
Ye Jiuliang’s gaze passed over him to et the figure approaching in the distance, her lips curling into a smile, "Whether or not you can stay, you’ll have to ask him."
Mo Chen puzzled, "Who?"
With a lift of her chin, Ye Jiuliang signaled him to look behind.
Turning with confusion, he saw the man’s distinct figure slowly approaching under the dim light.
Ask him?
Mo Chen’s face fell, asking Li Mochan, this fiend, seed no different from asking in vain.
"Why have you co out?" Ye Jiuliang hopped down the steps and, without any regard for Mo Chen’s presence, darted into Li Mochan’s arms.
Sturdy arms naturally wrapped around her waist, as Li Mochan gently kissed her forehead, "I was looking for you."
Ye Jiuliang chuckled softly, leaning her back against his chest, "He has sothing to ask you."
Without any defenses, his cool and dark eyes glanced over, sending a shiver down Mo Chen’s spine.
"Brother-in-law," he called sweetly, "Brother-in-law, I promise I won’t cause any trouble. Could you let stay here for a few days?"
"No," Li Mochan rejected coldly and without hesitation.
Mo Chen was stunned, then turned his pleading eyes to Ye Jiuliang, "Sister."
"He’s just teasing you; go back to the living room first," Ye Jiuliang said with a smirk.
Does that an she agreed?
A smile spread across Mo Chen’s face, and he scampered back to the living room.
"Why did you agree to it?" A deep voice sounded next to her ear, as Li Mochan grasped her hand to warm it.
Ye Jiuliang watched in the direction Mo Chen had run off, her gaze suddenly turning serious, "His nature is simple, and it’s not beyond Mo Su to exploit that. Rather than let that happen, it’s better to have him stay here for now. Perhaps we could also get so information about the Mo Family from him."
She knew he ant no harm, but it was different with Mo Su; she had to be cautious.
Li Mochan humd in response.
"By the way, where did the hamster that Aunt bought go?" Ye Jiuliang suddenly rembered not seeing the hamster when she passed the garden, only the big white goose.
Suppressing a laugh, Li Mochan’s thin lips replied, "Uncle had it sent to the pet shop."
"Pfft."
Ye Jiuliang burst into laughter. Uncle was that afraid of mice, huh.
