Li Mochan gave the dish a brief taste and stopped, his gaze casually swept over the person opposite him, as if he had discovered sothing, and a star-like smile spread in his eyes.
Constrained by the presence of others, Ye Jiuliang ate reservedly and felt restricted from standing up to reach for the dishes. If she had been unrestrained, she reckoned the old master would have been angered to the point of fainting.
Suddenly, a plate of steaming spicy boiled fish was pushed in front of her.
Following that cold, porcelain-like hand, she looked into the man’s deep eyes, "Eat more."
Ye Jiuliang looked at him dumbly, "Hmm?"
Sensing the two pairs of eyes looking their way, Li Mochan’s thin lips parted slightly, "I don’t eat spicy food."
This explanation only made things more awkward.
Ye Jiuliang cleared her throat softly, trying to steer the conversation back, "I eat spicy, let’s trade dishes."
Saying so, she stood up and moved the plate of lamb chops that was in front of her to Li Mochan.
Although he knew Li Mochan didn’t eat spicy food, Master Li still felt that Li Mochan always acted out of character whenever Ye Jiuliang was present.
Master Ye, seeing Ye Jiuliang focus solely on her al, had to smooth things over himself, "This girl just loves spicy food, excuse us for this casual display."
Master Li waved his hand, "No problem, young people should eat more."
Li Mochan sipped his wine, occasionally glancing at the rry little wolf cub across from him, the corners of his lips hidden behind the glass slightly lifted.
A little wolf cub who loves spice.
Must rember this.
The al proceeded quite amicably for guests and hosts alike.
The date for the engagent hadn’t been discussed yet, so Master Li continued to stay at the Ye Family ho.
In the living room, the air was fragrant with the scent of tea.
Ye Jiuliang curled up on the sofa, grabbing a handful of sunflower seeds, then after thinking for a mont, put them back.
She liked eating them, but she was clumsy with her hands; shelling them was too much trouble.
"Have you reviewed for the test in a few days?" the person next to her suddenly asked, startling the three people in the living room.
Ye Jiuliang gave him a sidelong look and, suddenly understanding what he ant, gave an innocent smile, "No, I’ve been busy copying the family rules as punishnt and didn’t have ti to review."
To speak of copying family rules so unabashedly could only be her, another person would be extrely embarrassed.
Master Ye, hearing this, felt embarrassed on her behalf.
"Copying family rules?" He asked calmly in return, and if Ye Jiuliang hadn’t already told him about it, she would have been taken in by his "good acting."
If he were an actor, he might well have given Aqian a run for his money for the title of best actor.
Ye Jiuliang said, "Mm, Grandfather punished to write it fifty tis."
"Because of that incident at the banquet?"
"Mm."
One questioning, the other answering, leaving Master Ye with no place to put his old face.
"Uncle Ye, that matter was not her fault, and Beisen’s monthly tests are coming up. Could we possibly overlook the punishnt for copying family rules this ti, for my sake?" Li Mochan looked up to et Master Ye’s gaze and spoke unhurriedly.
"Let her review properly to avoid failing again. After all, Beisen has its rules, and if she keeps failing, it wouldn’t be right for to make exceptions every ti, as it would cause dissatisfaction among others."
His speech was flawless; if not for the presence of others, Ye Jiuliang would have applauded him.
Thinking about Ye Jiuliang’s academic performance, Master Ye felt a headache coming on. ntioning her grades was an embarrassnt.
After thoughtful consideration, he looked at Ye Jiuliang and sighed, "All right, this ti I’ll spare you on Mohan’s behalf. Now go and thank him properly."
Finally escaping the punishnt of copying the family rules, Ye Jiuliang’s heart blood with joy.
She shifted her seat, instantly closing the gap between them, looking up at the person next to her with a beaming smile.
"I really thank you, Master Li."
Li Mochan glanced at her, "Rember to review well."
"Mm-hmm."
In a corner unseen by others, she winked at him, and Li Mochan discreetly looked away, the corners of his lips slightly raised.
"Grandpa."
Upon returning from shopping, Ye Xin heard that the old Mr. Li from the Li family had co to the Ye family to discuss the engagent matters. She didn’t even go back to her room and instead went straight to the living room.
"Grandpa Li," she called sweetly.
The old Mr. Li nodded, "We’re talking about your engagent with Jingjie. Do you have any suggestions?"
"Jingjie and I have discussed it already. It’s best to listen to our elders’ decision," said Ye Xin with a gentle voice.
Old Mr. Ye spoke up, "Sit down, it’s good for you to hear about the engagent matter as well."
Ye Xin nodded her head and sat down. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Li Mochan was also there. Her eyes widened with a tremor in her voice, "Master Wu."
"You’re so good-looking, why do they all look like they’ve seen a ghost when they see you?" Ye Jiuliang said in a lowered voice, teasing.
The girl’s fragrance lingered around the man’s nose, and Li Mochan leaned in closer without leaving a trace.
"Do you think everyone is as brave as you, huh?"
Ye Jiuliang held back a laugh, "Are you complinting ?"
"What do you think?"
"I think that’s the case," Master Jiu said with a shaless face.
"..."
On the opposite couch, Ye Xin could only see their lips moving, unable to hear exactly what they were saying.
Seeing their "excessively close" distance, Ye Xin felt a mix of shock and jealousy.
It was well-known that Li Mochan disliked won, even Su Yishan couldn’t get a good expression from him. Yet sohow, Ye Jiuliang easily gained Li Mochan’s favor.
With her thoughts stirring, Ye Xin spoke in a tender voice, "Jiuliang, according to our family hierarchy, you should also be calling Master Wu ’uncle.’ Please, sit properly; Master Wu doesn’t like others being too close to him."
Caught up in teasing Li Mochan, Ye Jiuliang hadn’t noticed how close they were. Realizing this, she straightened up a bit.
With both patriarchs here, it was best to stay well-behaved.
She really didn’t want to go back to Jing Pavilion, that dreadful place.
The little wolf cub moved away, and Li Mochan’s brows furrowed slightly, his gaze sweeping toward Ye Xin, icy and oppressive.
Ye Xin felt a chill crawl up her spine for no reason, and when she turned to look at Li Mochan, he had already looked away.
Unable to resist the temptation, Ye Jiuliang still grabbed a handful of sunflower seeds.
The seeds shells were all crushed by her, turning the seeds inside to bits and pieces.
She peeled several in a row, none of them whole.
"These darn seeds are really hard to peel," she muttered to herself, tossing the sunflower seeds back onto the plate.
It would be much better to buy shelled seeds; peeling them one by one is such a hassle.
Li Mochan watched his phone, but his eyes occasionally kept track of the person beside him. Seeing the little wolf cub’s movents peeling sunflower seeds almost made him burst into laughter.
He put down the phone and took a small plate, filled it with a handful of sunflower seeds, then placed it on his crossed legs.
Feeling frustrated, Ye Jiuliang perked up when she saw the person beside her grab a handful of seeds, "You know how to peel sunflower seeds?"
His hands, defined and elegant as if finely sculpted, which should have been orchestrating grand strategies, were now peeling sunflower seeds, an odd sight no matter how one looked at it.
Li Mochan raised an eyebrow, "Want to eat?"
As he spoke, a perfectly intact kernel erged fresh from the peel.
Ye Jiuliang’s eyes brightened; his skill at peeling seeds was impeccable.
"Mm."
The pale hand reached out unapologetically, waiting to be fed.
