Ye Jiuliang tossed aside the stick, stood up, and said, "Let’s go."
The desolate town was without a single light on the streets, only the weak moonlight faintly providing so illumination.
"Aqian, how did you find this godforsaken place?"
"I had just arrived in Country F that day, and halfway there I encountered a man in black. I followed him and ended up here," Ji Mingqian said slowly.
"Ajiu, the man in black was wearing a mask, but I feel like his build and movents are very familiar."
"Do you suspect the man in black is Hen Zheng?" Ye Jiuliang’s eyes narrowed slightly as she organized her thoughts and quickly grasped his implication.
Ji Mingqian humd in agreent; they were all too familiar with Hen Zheng’s skills.
"How credible do you think it is?" she asked.
Ji Mingqian replied, "Sixty percent."
That skill set, as well as the habitual small movents, were identical to Hen Zheng’s.
"I followed him here and exchanged blows with him. I didn’t expect he had backup here, and he escaped," Ji Mingqian explained.
Ye Jiuliang frowned, "You ntioned on the phone that you found sothing strange here, what is it?"
Ji Mingqian stopped in his tracks and pointed at the large mansion ahead, "Go inside and see for yourself."
This...
Ye Jiuliang looked up and an ancient mansion with a strong traditional style ca into her view.
How could Country F have such a style of mansion?
Could it be that the people who used to live here were from China?
The heavy wooden door, having withstood the assault of wind and rain, was already marked with age.
Ye Jiuliang stepped over the threshold and followed Ji Mingqian into the mansion.
With no one living there for a long ti, the mansion was filled with fallen leaves and dust everywhere.
With each step they took, shallow footprints were left on the ground.
"Ajiu, when I followed the man in black here, there were a few people already here. They seed to be searching for sothing," Ji Mingqian said, a hint of perplexity appearing in his eyes.
Ye Jiuliang kicked open the door of one of the side rooms, and a foul, musty sll rushed at them, mixed with falling dust, causing both to step back in unison.
"It stinks to death," Ji Mingqian muttered, covering his nose.
Ye Jiuliang waved her hand to clear the air and stepped into the side room.
The furnishings were ordinary; nothing seed out of place.
"Ajiu, there’s a pharmacy and an ancestral hall over there," Ji Mingqian ntioned after walking around the room. Suddenly rembering, he turned to Ye Jiuliang and said.
"However, the ancestral hall is a bit strange, it doesn’t enshrine any spirit tablets, they must have been all moved out."
Ye Jiuliang raised an eyebrow and walked out.
Ji Mingqian had been wandering around the mansion for the past few days and was quite familiar with it.
Compared to the side room they had just seen, the pharmacy appeared even more disordered, with so spoiled dicinal herbs trampled on the ground.
"This is where I fought with them," Ji Mingqian pointed at the damaged wall and said in a serious tone, "I don’t know what they were searching for, but they dug into the wall. Judging by the extent of damage, it seems it’s been destroyed for a long ti."
The thing that those n in black regarded so highly must have been unusual.
Ye Jiuliang touched the broken part of the wall thoughtfully.
"Aqian, do you feel like they brought you here on purpose?"
Those people neither appeared too early nor too late; they specifically ca out when Aqian arrived in Country F, and deliberately led him here, clearly wanting them to find this place.
Ji Mingqian frowned, "Do you also have that feeling?" He thought perhaps he was overthinking.
