"Enough," Mo Yu snapped coldly.
"I don’t want to hear you ntion her again. Don’t even think about any university in China, because I won’t agree to it."
It was still that assertive tone.
Discontent flashed through Mo Chen’s eyes as he stood up abruptly, "I’ve grown up, I can make my own decisions about my life. If you don’t agree, I’ll go talk to Dad."
"You are not allowed to go," Mo Yu’s face changed dramatically, her gaze sharpening with ice, "Especially, you are not allowed to ntion that dead girl in front of your dad."
"Why not?" Mo Chen asked, "She is also..."
Before he could finish his sentence, Mo Yu interrupted him sternly, "She is not."
She took a step forward and grabbed his arm, "Mo Chen, there are so things I will only warn you about once. You must never ntion anything about that dead girl in front of your dad, absolutely not."
Mo Chen lowered his head to et the hatred congealed in her eyes and his breathing hitched.
After hesitating for a long ti, he asked hoarsely, "But why exactly?"
What exactly was it that could make her hate soone so deeply?
If he hadn’t overheard her conversation outside the door that one ti, he wouldn’t even know that he had another sister in this world.
Mo Yu let go of his arm and appeared slightly dazed for a mont.
She muttered, "Because your dad also dislikes her, hates her."
Mo Chen furrowed his brow, "I don’t believe it."
"Believe it or not, it is the truth," Mo Yu said, her voice calm as she suppressed the coldness in her eyes.
"Mo Chen, so people are simply not from the sa world as us. I am making it clear to you today. If you insist on seeing that dead girl, then don’t bla for being utterly ruthless."
At these words, Mo Chen shivered.
He looked at her with complex eyes, wondering since when his mother had beco so terrifying.
"Mom, must you be so cruel?"
"You’re forcing to be," Mo Yu said expressionlessly.
Mo Chen clenched his fists and said resolutely, "If you really harm her, I will never forgive you."
"Between and her, are you choosing her?" Mo Yu looked at him incredulously, her voice trembling slightly.
eting her gaze, Mo Chen said, "I don’t want to make a choice, and you shouldn’t force ."
Mo Yu’s step faltered, and she steadied herself on the arm of the sofa.
Her face drained of color, she shouted angrily, "Get out, go back to your room imdiately, right now."
Without any hesitation, Mo Chen turned and walked out.
**
For two days in a row, Li Mochan took Ye Jiuliang out for enjoynt.
As soon as Li Mochan went to the company, the old Madam Jiang and Veya took Ye Jiuliang to a gathering.
Ye Jiuliang didn’t like wearing dresses, but the old lady and the others didn’t force her. After all, their Xiaojiu was beautiful, no matter what she wore, she outshone everyone else.
Today’s gathering was held at a manor, and the attendees were all ladies and young misses from the upper-class circles.
Where there were many won, gossip was inevitable.
The biggest gossip of the last few days was definitely about Li Mochan bringing his girlfriend back to the Jiang Family.
The couple were caught by the paparazzi playing on the streets, and everyone in the circle knew that Jiang Yisheng had no interest in the business world. Eventually, everything of the Jiang Family would fall into Li Mochan’s hands.
That position of the head lady of the Jiang Family, so coveted by many, was suddenly secured by soone else, which naturally caused quite a stir.
In the garden, gorgeously dressed won moved through various corners of the courtyard, chatting and whispering in small groups.
"Why haven’t we seen Karina? Surely she isn’t too afraid to co?"
"That’s not necessarily the case. No matter what, Karina is the daughter of an earl, with a much more distinguished status than that background-less woman."
"What’s the use of a powerful status if Li Fifth Master doesn’t like her? She can only delude herself."
"Exactly, she really thought she could marry Li Fifth Master. Let’s see how she embarrasses herself now."
As the words fell, a burst of laughter rang out.
"Karina, how are you here?" The voice of surprise drowned out the boisterous laughter and clearly reached everyone’s ears.
The mocking laughter ca to an abrupt halt.
People looked at the figure coming out from behind the ancient tree, their expressions varying.
When had she arrived?
The few who had just laughed the loudest shrank their necks guiltily upon seeing Karina.
After all, Karina’s status was more noble than any of theirs, not to ntion she was the precious pearl most favored by the Earl; mocking her behind her back was one thing, but they didn’t have the guts to do it to her face.
Karina’s gaze swept indifferently over their hypocritical faces, forcibly suppressing the anger and embarrassnt within her.
"Why the sudden quiet?"
The cold voice ca from above, quite unexpectedly.
Everyone looked around, finally resting their eyes on the tree.
The beautiful face of a young girl peeked out from the verdant leaves, startling everyone into stepping back in unison.
Only Karina remained still.
Ye Jiuliang stretched out her foot, and green leaves fluttered down.
"Hey, Ye Jiuliang, what are you doing up in the tree?" Karina, looking up, frowned at the person sitting in the tree.
Ye Jiuliang brushed off the leaves on her body, her lips slightly curved, "I initially wanted to take a nap here, but unexpectedly, I got to listen to a little wall chatter."
Karina, "..."
Before she could gather her thoughts, the person in the tree suddenly leapt down.
She held her breath in fright.
"Ye Jiuliang, you..."
Before she could finish her sentence, the girl landed lightly on her feet.
"Were you just worried about ?" Ye Jiuliang’s eyes lifted teasingly, her lips curving into a mocking smile.
Karina glared at her, "Wishful thinking."
Ye Jiuliang chuckled, hands in her pockets, casting a contemptuous glance at the cluster of young ladies.
"Do you recognize ?" she asked in a mild tone.
All the heiresses nodded together.
Who wouldn’t recognize that face, with her and Li Mochan dominating the front page headlines these past two days?
Ye Jiuliang sneered, pointing her finger among them, "You, and you, and you, and you, I need you four misses to co over here for a mont."
Those pointed out by Ye Jiuliang looked at each other in confusion.
Bewildered.
The four cautiously took steps forward, moving over slowly.
Ye Jiuliang’s lips held a playful smile, "To thank you four misses for waking up just now, I have a little gift for you."
The four were bewildered; the others looked on with curiosity.
In the next second, everyone just felt a breeze flash by.
That ghostly fast speed left everyone speechless with amazent.
"Ah..."
The piercing scream broke through the heavens.
"Help, there are insects, insects crawling into my dress."
The four won, panic-stricken, hiked up their dresses, hopping about on the spot.
"Help, there are insects."
Karina was dumbfounded and had not yet reacted when the cold voice spoke beside her, "What are you dazing about, let’s go."
Karina turned her head and saw the carefree departing figure of the young girl.
She glanced at the four won still panicking and jumping around, her lips curving into a radiant smile.
