"As the saying goes, heaven has a virtue of cherishing life. Saving a demon's life surpasses building a seven-story pagoda. Turn back now, and I can still spare you!"
Beihai saw this demon preparing for a full redemption arc, to lay down its butcher's knife and beco a Buddha on the spot, henceforth dedicating itself solely to good deeds.
This trope appears in many works. That's right, even in gas and animations, as long as a villain is handso and has a terrible personality, their random acts of slaughter are called 'having character'.
Flirting with the protagonist's woman or directly flirting with the protagonist is called 'shipping' or 'flirting', not cuckolding or NTR—who told him to be so handso?
Then give him a tragic backstory, and all the evil he commits becos 'understandable'. The root cause isn't his fault, but the world's!
Who told him to have a sick mother, a gambling father, and a broken him?
Although he takes revenge on society and guns down innocent people, he has his reasons. He just wants others to taste the feeling of having no mom and dad.
The protagonist hears this, sheds tears of sympathy, and uses his own efforts to fill the villain's twisted psyche.
In reality, it's because the protagonist can't win the fight. Otherwise, the villain would just pin the protagonist to the ground and kill him outright, continuing his societal revenge however he pleases.
Then the protagonist forgives him, and they go on adventures together. This is how a redemption arc is justified!
"What kind of nonsense are you even spouting? Are you scared already? Should I cripple your arms first, or your legs? I want you to feel pain."
The demon was completely missing the point, not taking the offered way out—utterly ungrateful!
Beihai's expression also turned sowhat ugly. This demon truly had so backbone!
"Don't act recklessly. I know you have your reasons. Being sealed for so long, it's normal to hold resentnt. Co, today I shall offer my body to feed the demon. Vent your fury upon ."
The demon watched as Beihai took off his shirt, sat cross-legged on the boat, and just stared at him. For so reason, this sent a chill down the demon's spine, making it instinctively take a step back.
Then it hardened. Its fist hardened. It was a noble demon! One punch could pierce right through this guy. So, without rcy, it threw a punch that broke the sound barrier, backed by formidable magic and its own racial talents.
"You think you can play the saint? Let
be honest with you, I'm a demon! If I hadn't brought calamity to the world and hard humans, why would I have been sealed in a bottle?
You're truly naive! Let
tell you the truth! The reason I commit every evil under the sun is because it's fun! The ugly screams of humans are so pleasing to the ear!"
The fist wreathed in red cap-like flas broke the sound barrier as it slamd into Beihai's chest. A loud noise followed soon after.
*Smack!* The sound made Elsa, the only other passenger on the boat, cover her ears. Even so, her ears rang with a hollow, slightly distorted echo.
After throwing the punch, the pain hadn't registered for the demon yet because its punch was too fast compared to its nervous system's pain response.
Its brain's fantasy had already raced ahead: Beihai bleeding from all seven orifices, that red blood probably exploding into a mist, splattering directly onto the wooden planks behind him, and his organs likely all spilling out!
Then the demon saw wisps of greenish smoke rising into the sky. The sll was strange, not at all like cooked at.
Pulling its arm back, it saw its fist was gone, leaving only bone behind. Blood sprayed from its arm like a showerhead. Its fist had probably, under that solid impact, exploded into a bloody mist, completely shattered along with the bones.
"This! You vile human!"
Seeing it was the one who ca off worse from this strike, the demon hastily retreated and used magic to restore its hand.
"I'll kill you! I'll torture you rcilessly! And that little snack beside you, I won't let her go either!"
Beihai suddenly stood up, startling the demon, which hurriedly retreated another few dozen ters to maintain a safe distance.
"You... you actually want to kill ?"
"What, you only realize that now? Bastard, don't you dare look down on demons!"
"Since you want to kill , then I can't let you live."
Beihai directly stomped on the Porcelain Bottle, shattering it to prevent the demon from escaping. This action, however, clearly gave the demon the wrong idea.
"You fool! That was the only treasure that could deal with ! And you just destroyed it!
Though I must say, I didn't expect your physical body to be so strong. But no matter, I know magic."
After its tough talk, the demon raised its hand and fired a beam. Beihai didn't dodge or avoid it;
he charged straight through the beam. Under the demon's astonished gaze, the attack perfectly struck his head, blowing it apart.
But soon, the demon's body drifted backward again. The head that had just been blown apart was perfectly restored, though its expression was now ferociously terrifying. For the demon, this was sheer humiliation!
"I'll kill you, kill you, kill you, kill you! I'll slaughter you utterly!"
The entire demon's body grew enormous, like a giant. Then it opened its mouth and unleashed a Beam Cannon barrage that would vaporize the entire sea.
As the saying goes, when it cos to the offensive power of magic, as long as your beam cannon output is large enough, it can rival anything.
Facing the demon's proudest strike, Beihai gently pushed against the attack, shoving it back into the demon's mouth, then followed up with a punch that pulverized its entire upper body.
When the demon regenerated again, it imdiately changed tactics. If it couldn't win in physical combat, and magic was useless, then it would just use curses.
Isn't he strong? Turn this guy into a fish. Let's see how he defeats
then. He'll be so small, with no leverage to exert force.
Thinking it, the demon did it. Thus, the power of the curse was unleashed. In the end, the sea breeze gently blew, and nothing happened.
Beihai perford a jump on the sea's surface. The basic principle was stepping on his own feet—left foot on right foot, then borrowing force from each other to achieve liftoff on the spot.
"Human, don't get too cocky! You're nothing but a lowly creature!"
The enraged demon remained unflustered. Instead, it charged straight at Beihai, then passed through his physical body and completely tore out his soul.
"Hahaha! Didn't expect that, did you? How could your physical attacks possibly work?
How can physical ans penetrate a demon's soul? No matter how blessed or powerful your exterior is, your soul remains pure, uncontaminated,
and equally weak. I'm going to tear your soul to shreds right now and swallow it!"
The demon was brimming with confidence. Then it saw a white, double-door refrigerator. Do you understand this shock? Does the appearance of this soul do justice to my tender psyche?!
Beihai extended a white hand, as big as the demon's head, and grabbed the demon's head in one squeeze.
"I see. No wonder you're so tough. I was indeed wondering why there was no sense of impact.
So it's because you're this kind of intangible thing, immune to physical attacks. Isn't that a bit underhanded?"
"Actually, human, I have my reasons. I realized I despise humans because of their greed and selfishness."
"Not acceptable, demon. You wanted to kill
just now, didn't you?"
"That... that was just playful banter earlier. The reason I committed so many wrongs is that, from my perspective,
I was just playing with them. These toys are too fragile."
The demon felt it could still salvage the situation. Damn it! Wasn't it said that blessings were external power? How is the soul this overpowered?
The key is, I even revealed my own weakness. Now there's truly no way up to heaven and no door down to earth!
