Chapter 760: Chapter 762: Hiding Lin Fei
“Interesting, it’s been a while since I was last ticulously plotted against like this,” Lin Fei mumbled to himself, a trace of inexplicable smile curling at his lips. “Do you know what he called
here for today?”
Wu Zekai shook his head again, “I’m not sure about that either. Brother Luo, you should ask Third Master yourself.”
Throughout the walk to the villa where Third Master lived, Lin Fei couldn’t tease any useful information out of Wu Zekai.
“It seems it’s ti to clarify things,” Lin Fei resolved in his mind. Under Wu Zekai’s guidance, he stepped into the villa.
In the luxuriously decorated living room of the villa, Third Master was, as usual, puffing on a cigar and reading the newspaper. When he saw Lin Fei, he got up and exchanged a few words of greeting.
Lin Fei faintly felt that Third Master’s attitude towards him wasn’t as enthusiastic as it had been over the phone, which made him instinctively heighten his guard.
Before entering the house, Lin Fei had already made sure there were no ambushers around, and inside, he could confirm that, aside from Wu Zekai standing behind Third Master and two bodyguards stationed at the door, there was no one else.
Sowhat reassured, Lin Fei crossed his legs, lit a cigarette, and exhaled a ring of smoke before speaking first.
“It’s been a while. What did you call
here for this ti?”
“Haha.”
Third Master laughed heartily.
“Brother Lin Fei is always so straightforward. I originally wanted to catch up with you before asking for your help, but since that’s the case, I’ll just get straight to the point.”
Lin Fei gestured with his hand for Third Master to speak freely.
“Last ti, brother Lin Fei, you executed Wang Xiong so spectacularly; I’ve heard Mr. Wu recount it, and it was truly breathtaking. I regret not having witnessed it myself. So, this task should be a simple matter for you, Brother Luo.”
“Don’t beat around the bush. My patience is running thin.”
Lin Fei displayed so impatience, and Third Master chuckled before continuing.
“I would like you, brother Lin Fei, to help
kill soone.”
“Who?”
“Mu Tiansheng of Mu Group!”
After listening, Lin Fei hid his surprise and squinted his eyes, sizing up Third Master, trying to read sothing from his deanor.
Unfortunately, he didn’t succeed.
Having
kill Mu Tiansheng, isn’t that rather far-fetched?
Lin Fei couldn’t understand for what purpose Third Master would make such a request.
Not to ntion whether he knew about Lin Fei’s connection with the Mu Family, the Mu Group and Third Master were supposed to not interfere with each other’s business. What was he doing, asking Lin Fei to kill Mu Tiansheng for no reason? And considering recent news had spread throughout Jiangdong about Mu Tiansheng’s car accident leaving him disabled, why would he still seek his death?
“I recall that Mu Tiansheng was recently in a car accident and it’s uncertain whether he’ll live or die. Why kill him?”
Third Master puffed out a cloud of smoke and said with a smile, “It’s not that I want him dead; it’s soone else who wants him dead. Brother Luo, I know you’ve always wanted to sever ties with . Ultimately, we’re not cut from the sa cloth, and I understand your decision. This is my last request, and the reward afterwards will definitely satisfy you. We can part amicably. What do you say, Brother Luo?”
Despite wanting to part ways amicably, was it really necessary to ask
to kill Mu Tiansheng? How redundant.
Lin Fei knew this was just Third Master’s pretext. He linked various incidents and thought carefully, a sudden conjecture erging in his mind.
Could it be that Wu Yunzhi and Mu Shaopeng’s backer is Third Master?
Thinking it over, Lin Fei found it not impossible.
With Third Master’s capabilities, he indeed could compete with the Mu Family, and that made it sowhat comprehensible as to why he wanted Mu Tiansheng dead.
To pave the way for Wu Yunzhi and Mu Shaopeng, asking Lin Fei to kill Mu Tiansheng would kill two birds with one stone. If Lin Fei really agreed, Third Master would definitely secure evidence of Lin Fei killing Mu Tiansheng, making it easy for him to send Lin Fei to prison any ti he wished.
Then Lin Fei realized a critical inconsistency; if Third Master was indeed behind Wu Yunzhi and Mu Shaopeng, he surely must be aware of Lin Fei’s relationship with Mu Shanshan. How could he still ask Lin Fei to kill Mu Tiansheng?
Lin Fei recalled Third Master’s earlier words—it was soone else who wanted Mu Tiansheng dead. Perhaps the situation was the other way around and Wu Yunzhi, fearing Mu Tiansheng’s recovery, had asked Third Master to dispose of him. Third Master might be using this situation to test if there was still any potential for cooperation between them.
In such a short ti, Lin Fei thought of all this and felt overwheld. Deciding not to overthink, he straightforwardly asked Third Master.
“You just ntioned that soone else wants Mu Tiansheng dead, who is it?”
“As for that question, Brother Luo, I’ve promised to keep it confidential for the other party, so I’m afraid I cannot say.”
