Chapter 1172: Chapter 1174: Smith
The soldier kicked the dead patrolman off the high platform, tidied up his clothes in a second, lifted his footsteps, and walked toward the opposite Observation Tower with his chest out. As for that corpse, it was already grabbed by a comrade who had infiltrated.
During the standstill, the patrolman’s jacket was completely stripped, then another soldier boarded, and when that soldier returned here, the soldier in clothes replaced the original one and began to patrol the area.
The cross-shaped architecture made the whole situation much simpler. Naturally, if the design were truly circular, that would make it easier to approach. The cross’s high platform, at least, ignored defense at the very tip of the cross. If the patrolman were more mindful and checked every ti, he would certainly not have died.
After the soldier was in position, the next three frontlines were taken out one by one in the sa manner. For Lin Fei, it was very easy.
Once the patroln on the cross were taken out, others sward toward the Observation Tower, like a school of fish gathering at the center of the tower. Lin Fei stepped forward and knocked on the door. A voice from inside asked, "Who’s there!"
However, the person inside opened the door without any precaution. As soon as the door opened, Lin Fei dashed forward and directly killed the person with a dagger.
Lin Fei rushed into the Observation Tower, but when he saw that inside was only a woman and a girl, both of whom scread at the sight of the man falling to the floor, just as they opened their mouths, Lin Fei raised his arm and shot the woman dead. As for the girl, Lin Fei stepped forward and knocked her unconscious.
Lin Fei had no compassion for the people on this island, but a child is still a child. While the parents were those causing harm to others, the child was ultimately unaware of this, so Lin Fei did not kill the child, nor would he ever.
These people on the island were surviving, but in order to survive, they hard others by producing narcotics, turning outside families into ruins. They were the culprits. Each year, drug-related deaths numbered in the hundreds of thousands or millions. In Lin Fei’s eyes, these people were already dead; however, none of this was the child’s fault.
After Lin Fei dealt with the first layer’s people, he led others toward the second layer, which was evidently more professional but unoccupied except for machines and equipnt. Elsewhere, there were white powders, being directly processed into narcotics and then sold out, practically manufacturing drugs at all tis and places.
Possibly because it was nightti, many were asleep. Only the top layer had sounds, which were from soone watching television.
Lin Fei and his team ascended, quickly reaching the top layer of the Observation Tower. There, a guard was watching sothing on a tablet, occasionally surveying the surroundings. When he heard the door behind him, he said, "Old Larry, aren’t you going down to accompany your wife? Why did you co up? There’s nothing going on, relax and go back to sleep." He didn’t even look back.
Behind him, there was no response.
The guard suddenly felt sothing amiss, but a dagger was pressed to his neck, sending shivers through his whole body, terrified. He never expected any trouble, but indeed an enemy had infiltrated.
Lin Fei looked at the guard, silently walking to the window of the Observation Tower.
The window of the Observation Tower was made of glass, so there wasn’t the cold as imagined, and there was no wind. It was practically a paradise for sightseeing. Looking at the endless sea and the clear view below, Lin Fei realized that if the guard had looked down, he would have spotted Lin Fei’s infiltration; unfortunately, the guard didn’t do so.
It had been uneventful for so long, even if there had been incidents, they didn’t target the Observation Tower, so the guard relaxed his vigilance, letting Lin Fei find a loophole to exploit.
Lin Fei looked at the corner where they had landed. Seeing it, he couldn’t help but admire the island’s defense designer. His design was almost perfect. Every corner was visible; even the landing area was visible. If the guard were diligent and responsible, nothing would have gone wrong.
Fortunately, an inattentive guard allowed Lin Fei’s infiltration. Lin Fei turned around, looked at the guard, and asked, "Where is your boss?"
The guard looked at Lin Fei and said, "In the headquarters."
Lin Fei curiously asked, "Headquarters? Where is this headquarters? You’d better not lie."
The guard raised his hands and said, "I swear I’m not lying. The headquarters are in the island’s basent; I designed it. I know where it is, but you probably can’t get in."
"You designed the headquarters?" Lin Fei was sowhat surprised. Could all those buildings really have been designed by this short guy?
"That’s right, what’s the matter, bro? Did these buildings offend you? Then I, Smith, apologize to you," said Smith, soone who didn’t want to die.
Lin Fei asked, "As I asked you, where are the building layouts and the defense designer?"
"That would be , sir. Do we know each other? Or are you so relative sent to save ? If so, get
out of here quick! I don’t want to stay here any longer!" Smith said. His words flowed like a stream, as endless as the Yangtze River!
Lin Fei was slightly surprised and asked, "Are you saying you’re not from here?"
"Of course not!"
Smith imdiately denied it, saying, "If I were from here, who would stay here, letting
do damn night shifts? I painstakingly designed their blueprints, completed all the tasks, and in the end, they deed
useless, stuck
guarding this lousy place, and couldn’t even get soone competent."
At this, Smith suddenly felt it might be inappropriate to say such things in front of Lin Fei. He hurriedly said, "Bro, when I say incompetent, I don’t an you. Others tried attacking here but were stopped by my impregnable design, wiped out outside."
