“Are you hiring?”
Upon hearing this, Radar felt as if the light of salvation from heaven shone upon him. He hadn’t even opened his eyes before he shouted, “Yes, yes, yes!”
When he opened his eyes, he saw a young foreign guy with blond hair standing in front of him, scratching his head, he said, “Are you here alone to apply?”
The handso young man with blond hair, white skin, and blue eyes nodded and, in fluent foreign language, said, “Yes, I’m here by myself. I want to join your rcenary Group.”
“Are you from Iron Country?” Radar asked.
The youth nodded, saying, “What’s wrong with being from Iron Country? Do you Asians discriminate against us from Iron Country?”
Radar shrugged and said, “Not exactly, but how old are you? Let
be clear: minors are prohibited from joining the rcenary Group. If any of our mbers die, we don’t want guardians coming to us for compensation.”
“I am twenty-two years old, from Iron Country, I’m an orphan and grew up in an orphanage!” the young man declared loudly.
“Twenty-two, that’s about right. But what skills do you have?” As he spoke, Radar stood up and pinched the young man’s arm, gave his butt a pat. Clearly, the young man did not like this and quickly dodged, but Radar laughed, saying, “Your body hasn’t undergone training, your muscles aren’t up to par. As for your butt, it’s obvious you’ve been sitting too long. What use do I have for soone who sits around all day without refining their body?”
The young man looked at Radar in surprise and said, “You can tell all that information?”
Radar smirked and said, “I didn’t see it; I felt it. And looking at your delicate skin, you must not have endured much hardship. I wonder how such a kid managed to get into Trackless City.”
“I’ve known about Trackless City for a while, just never been here. But I found your information in the data repository of Trackless City, and it seems you’re looking for rcenaries. Comparing around, your rcenary Group seed the most promising, so I wanted to join,” the young man said.
“You want to join, sure, but it’s up to
to decide,” Radar said nonchalantly. But as he mulled over the young man’s words, he jumped up from his chair, grabbed the young man’s collar, and said, “Say that last part again?”
“I said I want to join your rcenary Group, what’s the matter?” the young man asked, seeing Radar’s eager expression, he grew a bit timid.
“Not that part, the line before it,” Radar said.
“Your rcenary Group has the most potential?”
“No, before that!”
The young man thought for a mont, finally realizing what Radar was focused on, and imdiately said, “I found your data in the repository of Trackless City, and then I…”
“Damn, you really hacked into the data repository of Trackless City? If you’re ssing with , I’ll show you the aning of a fist,” Radar said excitedly, his voice low, afraid others might hear.
The young man imdiately raised his shoulder bag and said, “If you don’t believe , I can show you now.”
“No need!”
Radar instantly refused the young man’s offer and asked, “What’s your na?”
“My na is Brick Keiron,” the youth replied.
“Brick Keiron? Nice na. Co with , I’ll take you to a place. I hope you can prove your claim, otherwise, you won’t leave that place alive,” Radar said, packed up, and led Brick Keiron out of the hall, quickly arriving at the hotel where Lin Fei was staying.
Entering the hotel, they rode the elevator directly to Lin Fei’s floor, but both Radar and Brick Keiron felt it was even colder inside than outside. However, after knocking for a while, soone finally opened the door.
Upon seeing who opened the door, Radar showed a look of surprise, while Brick Keiron was utterly shocked.
At that mont, Lin Fei ca to the door wearing sweat-drenched shorts, as if the cold could not penetrate his body. Despite being soaked in sweat, there was no sign of freezing.
“Boss, what’s up with you? Is Butcher still safe? Don’t tell
he’s all busted up!” Radar imdiately understood that Lin Fei chose this location to refine his body, hence his attire, but he couldn’t resist teasing him.
Lin Fei laughed and said, “Quit your chatter, co in. And who might this be?”
Brick Keiron snapped out of his shock. Though he didn’t expect a man so fierce on the battlefield to be so amiable in person, he quickly bowed and said, “Hello Mr. Lin Fei, my na is Brick Keiron, I wish to join your rcenary Group.”
Lin Fei was taken aback; if it was just an introduction, it was fine. But the last part made him pause—want to join the rcenary Group? Such a genteel and polite young man joining his rcenary Group? Is this a joke?
“Radar, what’s going on?” Lin Fei asked.
He didn’t expect Radar to be out so long and co back with a young man who seed totally inexperienced. This didn’t add up.
“Heh heh, boss, let’s talk inside. We’ve struck gold this ti,” Radar said, then entered the room. Brick Keiron followed him in; Lin Fei closed the door, and there lay Butcher on the sofa, wrapped in two layers of blankets, snoring loudly.
“Butcher really can sleep with just a blanket, never mind him. Brick Keiron, introduce yourself,” Radar said.
This ti, Brick Keiron spoke, “Boss, I’m Brick Keiron, I’m twenty-two years old. I saw your impressive performance on the battlefield, and I’ve always wanted to et you!”
“Hey, hey, hey, wait a minute. We’re not asking for an idol statent, get to the point,” Radar interrupted.
Lin Fei showed so interest and asked, “Where did you see ?”
Brick Keiron replied, “Of course, in my country’s confidential archives. Everything is in there, especially your performance on the Clarni battlefield. It was all recorded by satellites as the most top-secret files in the archive.”
“Oh? That’s impressive,” Lin Fei said. He finally understood why Radar brought this guy here. This young man was a hacker genius! Otherwise, how could he have access to national classified files? Given his age, there’s no way he was a high-ranking official. The only possibility: a hacker.
“So, tell
why you want to join us. Give
a compelling reason, and I’ll let you join,” Lin Fei said.
