Xi Yue’s eyes snapped open, the dazed expression vanishing, leaving only clarity. The once smooth and lodious flute tune faltered abruptly.

ng Zisu looked at her in disbelief, “How did you set yourself free?”

“Free from what?” Xi Yue chuckled, reaching out to grasp ng Zisu’s chin. “Why did you stop playing?”

ng Zisu jolted upright in fright, her face shifting between pale and flushed. Fear and deep wariness filled her eyes.

Xi Yue was amused by her reaction. She raised the corner of her mouth and said with a hint of ridicule, “Are you trying to seduce with that level of ntal fortitude?”

“What nonsense are you talking about? I don’t understand!” ng Zisu took a deep breath, struggling to steady her emotions.

Xi Yue looked at the flute in her hand with interest.

It appeared to be just an ordinary artifact, which ant that the key lay in the lody itself—or rather, the spiritual power resided within the tune.

As Xi Yue was lost in thought, a commotion suddenly arose in the distance.

“You’re a good friend of Yanhuai. Since you rarely visit the outer sect, how could I not host you properly? Of course, the outer sect can’t compare to the inner sect, but I hope you won’t mind. That said, this garden in the dical Academy is quite beautiful—it’s no less impressive than our Pill Departnt’s Serenity Garden!”

These words were spoken in a gentle and sweet voice.

As soon as this voice rang out, Xi Yue noticed ng Zisu’s body stiffen, her face turning deathly pale.

Then, she heard another man’s voice, “Bai Ya, don’t say that. I’m not happy enough to have you entertain , so why would I dislike it? What’s more, you don’t have to be envious. I heard that your grades in the Pill Departnt have always been among the best. There is a high chance that you will be selected for this year’s inner sect student selection.”

“Then I’ll gladly accept Brother Xi’s blessing,” the gentle and sweet voice responded with a delighted laugh tinged with a hint of shyness and affection. “Honestly, I don’t care whether I enter the inner sect or not. I just want to stay by Brother Yanhuai’s side. I want to take care of him and keep him company every day—that alone makes happy.”

“Yanhuai is truly fortunate to have a lady like you devoted to him. It’s a blessing beyond lifetis. If I had soone as devoted as you, I would have no regrets in this life.”

As their voices grew closer, ng Zisu suddenly snapped back to her senses and hurriedly turned to leave.

But before she could take a step, they had already erged from behind the rock garden.

Xi Yue quickly took in the sight—a young girl dressed in a pink and white gown, accompanied by a handso young man with sharp, resolute features.

The young lady looked delicate and refined, but her brows and eyes carried a hint of sorrow that evoked sympathy.

Moreover, her alluring eyes looked so delicate and pure, as though she needed protection.

The lady in pink was montarily stunned upon seeing ng Zisu and Xi Yue, but she quickly broke into a joyful smile.

She ran over excitedly, grabbing ng Zisu’s hand and exclaiming, “Sister, this is wonderful! I can’t believe I ran into you here!”

ng Zisu jerked her hand away and said coldly, “We’re not close, ng Baiya. Don’t act like we’re familiar with each other.”

ng Baiya, the lady in pink, was caught off guard and thrown off balance, letting out a startled cry.

The young man’s expression changed instantly. He leaped forward, catching the delicate beauty in his arms, and asked anxiously, “Are you alright, Baiya? Did you get hurt anywhere?”
