Chapter 542: Broken Promise
*Later in the Night*
Javier ca back to his apartnt when he wore a few clothes. His chest was packed with the black bulletproof jacket and wore free print cloves. Both of his thighs were padded with the material inside his pants as he geared up for the mission for tonight.
Looking at himself in the bathroom’s mirror, a murderous glance passed by. His aloofness was reaching the top heights where his stubborn head was determined to gain victory.
But in those deep shallow eyes, there lived the huge responsibility. A mission he wished to carry out since he was young...
‘Today, I will take your revenge, mother. I will be safe for my family. Today, you will get your wish fulfilled...’ Javier thought as he let out a small sigh.
Finally, he managed to co into his bedroom where his eyes fell upon his wife who was still not getting up anyti soon. Since Jennifer was pregnant, her sleeping cycle was getting disturbed. He intentionally didn’t let her take a nap during the day, in the hope she would get the best sleep in the darkness.
Unknown to her, Javier was planning his revenge at night to not let her be worried..

Javier took small and baby steps to co near the bed and he saw Jennifer drooling and it was falling on her pillow. His earlier cold behavior was slightly replaced with his happy glinting. He bent on his knees to plant a soft kiss on her forehead as he gently massaged her cheeks with his gloved hands..
“I will be back soon..I will definitely co back.” Javier mumbled but it was too unclear for a sleepy head to hear.
He noticed her heavy breath, her chest increased and decreased which was the indication that he looked forward..
Soon, Javier got out of his apartnt and there, he t Ellen who stood against his car. Upon seeing Javier’s sitehouse, Ellen pressed his lips into thin lines.
Both the n didn’t exchange any words as their eyes talked. Ellen took over the driver’s seat and Javier sat beside him. At the backseat lay three different rifles which they had specially dug from their base.
“Shall we go?”
“Let’s go, Charles must be on his way too..”

anwhile, Charles had taken up the cover to protect his body. He took a deep breath before he too entered into Sierra’s room. There, he saw her and their children sleeping in the middle which made him gulp.
‘It’s really making nervous..’ Bringing his one hand on his chest, Charles made his way to the other side of the bed when he first gave a dot kiss to his daughter. Caressing her soft hair, he saw how she slept without any care in the world which graced his face with a soft and genuine smile.
Then, he moved to do the sa with his son. However, in the middle, he was caught off guard, “Charles...”
“Shh!” Chalres signaled her to stay silent. He saw Sierra waking up from her sleep and watching him kiss Noah’s head. “What are you even doing...” Sierra mumbled but Charles passed no answer.
He ca from the other side and Sierra’s gaze didn’t tear off from his body. “You are wearing a bullet-proof vest. Charles, where are you going this late?”
Sierra’s worry flashed on her face. She viewed Charles walking to her and stealing a kiss from her lips before staring back into her black eyes, “I need to go, Sierra. All I can say is...I will co back very soon...”
“Are you going on a mission?” Sierra missed a beat on her question but there were no responses
She felt Charles pulling himself back from her without withdrawing his gaze. He never turned his back on her and the children until he reached the door of the bedroom and closed it.
While Sierra was still in dilemma, she soon pulled herself back to reality. ‘Shit shit! His intense gaze was to trick into not asking him questions!’ He has done it before, why did she fall into the sa trap again?
Sierra imdiately removed the blanket from her body and rushed out of the bedroom. There, she saw Charles was going to step out from the apartnt before she called this na, “Charles! wait!”
Terror seized her heart as she felt her jelly legs going weak. Her wide eyes searched the room to switch one the lights but it struck her, it would be too late to stop him.
Rushing by his side, Sierra hugged him back from back as she mumbled, “Don’t go..You promised that you will leave these missions.”
“Sierra...”
“Are you breaking your promises again?” Sierra questioned with uneasiness. She was scared, scared to lose him again. They have children, he has a company. Why does he wish to get involved in the underworld cri again?
Initially, Charles didn’t plan to reveal anything else. All he wanted was to wish her one last ti before he and Javier finished their mission. But to his dismay, she woke up with a simple touch. “I will co back, Sierra...wait for .”
“B-” Sierra didn’t get a chance when he replied, “I need to, Sierra. This one is for family. One and last.” he told her and she instantly let him free from her embrace.
Sierra looked at his back with her eyes that were too afraid but she held no authority to hold him on this. Despite not knowing the exact reason, she knew he would never ntion ‘family’ unless it was about her...
“Go then. But I dare you, CHARLES Johnson, you have to co back to ! If you don’t co back, I will find you and rip your heart out from your body and kill you myself!”
