"W-what. Do you m-an to say? Where are you going now?' Veronica's speech shuddered as she asked with the uncertainty written on her face. Her heart was making her head go insane when Max rotated himself to look at his beloved partner.

"I know this ca as a shock to you but I got a call from my father. I will have to return to the Smith family for once...and a few days." Max told her honestly, making the tears appear in Veronica's eyes. Her lips parted, but no words ca out with the thought that they might be separated out of the blue.

"B-But is this necessary?" she asked again, receiving a nod from his side "I don't know what has happened there but dad has called on an urgent basis."

"But why so suddenly? Your father was fine with you living here? And didn't you say that you will talk with your father about us and..o-our marriage as well?" Veronica can't help but feel shivers down her spine.

Until now, she has never stopped him from leaving her. She was willing to go with him to his place as well, without any hesitation. But, the thought of him leaving all alone gave her a mini heart attack. It was harder to digest.

When Max noted her worry in one expression, he cupped her face to look into her eyes. Without tearing his gaze even for a minor second, he told, "I know that this is sudden but we have no choice, father has never called like this. I bet there must be an ergency.."

"B-but..he is involved..." She doesn't even wish to utter the next half. He had told her about his background.? His family background was attractive because of their involvent in the mafia world

The tears were on the edge of coming out but Max was able to control it for her, "You don't have to cry, my love. I will be back very soon, and this ti, when I will co to you, we both are going back to et and my father, fine?"

"Can't I also co with you? Won't that be a good option? Jack and I can also travel w-with you.." Veronica had no idea why she was acting so protectively towards him.

It blows her mind but she had no other choice but to do all she wished to. In response to her question, Max gave her a disapproving look, "I'm sorry but it will take so ti for to arrange the visa for you. You can't travel without that..."

"S-so it is final that you are going..." Veronica didn't expect her morning to be this bad. Neither can she anticipate that he had to urgently leave them. Why?

While Veronica had more to ask, both of them heard a sleepy voice from behind. A small boy ca into their room, holding a teddy in his hand before he rubbed his eyes, "M-Mommy...Jacky wants a morning hug..."

On hearing the voice, Veronica tapped her hands over their eyes. Not only that, Max gave her the assured smile before he walked into the room to lift Jack in his embrace, pinching his cheeks, "Mommy mommy, what about dad? She is also your mother but also my dear, don't forget that.."

"Y-Your...s.." Jack was still feeling sleepy when peacefully laid on his father's biceps, like any other lazy child.

The one and a year old child had no hint that his father was going to leave them for the next few days.

When Veronica had dried up her tears, she turned around to look at both of them, where they were enjoying their father-son monts. Veronica had no words to describe her current feelings which were a ss.

It was hard to say why this remorse even arose. Wasn't he simply going to his ho? And he said that he will talk with his father as well...so why carry such a sense of guilt and fear?

'C'mon Veronica, he won't leave you like this. He loves you and Jack a lot...for him, you both an the world..' her mind told her clearly, only if her heart could have agreed to the sa so easily..

And the ti flew by very soon, the packing of his bags was even done. After eting with Veronica's father for the last ti before departing, both of them made their way to the airport.

Veronica personally took the ti out of her schedule to drop him there, while Jack was sitting in the backseat.

With his toys in his hand, Max was continuously having fun and trying to make Jack laugh, in which he was successful. However, Veronica's mood was as designed as Max had expected.

Peaking after her, driving the car, he spoke, "V, you have nothing to worry about, I told you about this earlier as well.."

"And I also told you that my intuition isn't working in the right direction so making understand is also useless..." She told him honestly, making Max sigh.

Knowingly, she was afraid, deadly afraid but he had to deal with the attitude of others since it was his mistake in the first place. The entire ride to the airports is as funny as possible as Jack's giggles always smile on both parents' hearts.

Soon after, both of them reached the spot where they were standing just outside the airport, with the bags already ready besides. Veronica was holding Jack in her hand, with her eyes already getting teary, as her heart was crumbling down into pieces.

Seeing her in this condition, Max ca closer to give her a peak on her lips, blinking his eyes twice, "V..you know, I love you? And our family?"

"I..I.. know.." Veronica gave a small nod, to which Max answered with a confident grin, "So, don't worry. I will be back soon. And also, I will call you whenever I get the ti. Don't miss , or you can write letters as well if you want." He gave her a small wink but Veronica wasn't in the mood to joke either.

At last, when his flight was announced, Max took his luggage along, before finally bidding and waving at his small family, who were his universe.

Seeing him leaving made Veronica feel emotional again. With the tears still lingering on her eyelashes, it was Jack who had wiped them.

With the pure innocence that plastered in his actions, he answered with a bright smile, "Mommy...daddy..will co.."

'I hope he does.... and brings us back as well..'
