Chapter 357 - Disclosing Secret
Charles's brows never changed when he kept a straight face, "Is that so? What kind of ergency is this?"
"My..life is in danger," Sierra muttered without even eting his eyes. There was a tinge of sadness. But more than that, she was scared. How will he react to her talks?
As expected, he didn't believe her. "You… in danger? Hahaha… who would like to kill an innocent person like you?" Charles' mind can't digest the fact about what she just told him.
To him, it was a total bluff.
Sierra lifted her gaze to see his mocking smile that reached his ears, "Why is it hard to believe in my words?"
"Because there shouldn't be any threat around you. Your husband is a businessman, you are working in my brother's company. What kind of threat can linger on your head?" Charles didn't seem to find this usual at all.
His voice held the amount of hatred for the lady in front of him but Sierra didn't sense even a bit of fear for her. The self-doubt was constantly making her heart feel shutter already.
"M-My husband is a businessman…b..but he is also in the underworld." only Sierra knew how much courage was needed to disclose this. The fact was deeply hidden, not known even to her own family.
She noted Charles's expression changing already. The mockings?of his lowered when a frown curved on his forehead, "D-does your family knows?" In return, he got a negative answer from her side when she shook her head.
"No one knew about this until we married. I only learned when...things were a bit complicated. But except , his family, no one is aware of this." Sierra told him honestly.
Knowingly, she knew that the man who can provide the maximum amount of safety to her children was only her ex-boyfriend. She hates him, but her hatred can never be above her own children's safety…
"If he is in the underworld, he must be having everything to give you security. Why co to , Sierra?" and for the very first ti, he called her na.
Sierra's face was imdiately lifted from its place to see his doubtful expressions.
The sight she saw, she knew that he didn't believe words. But at least, he found them to be believable, not total jokes. "He… had. Things weren't managed by him until his father died one year ago."
"Everything was handled by his father, who didn't want to transfer things to Jack. But..his abrupt death made things difficult. Everything ca on Jack's shoulders and..it was so sudden that we never got the ti to evaluate things. The sudden, shocked death of his father and… brother's encounter.. is all mixed up." she explained honestly with her emotions getting ssier over ti.
Recalling the tis when they heard the information that Jack's father died and his brother was killed, made their heart co into their mouth. It was sothing unexpected and the only thought that crossed her mind was the security of her family… her children…Jack, her friend.
While she explained, Charles only saw her condition. She was getting worse until he heard her husband's na from her mouth. 'Jack…. The sa I actually searched…' years ago, he wasn't soone who would not even search after the man who was actually snatching his girlfriend. ..his lifeline from him.
But the information about him being involved in the underworld ca no less than any shock to him. It was way more dangerous and it was better known to him.
"But he must be having the power…."
"Soone actually attacked our arms and two biggest bases eight months ago. It was when Jack had just started to handle things and we got to hear that there is another person who wants to actually destroy Jack's lineage."
Everything that Sierra explained was of high intense information which automatically made Charles's lips into a thin line.
There were no words to express what he heard after hearing her worry, but more like a thin thread that was even hard to ignore.
When she stopped in the middle, the waitress brought coffee for both of them. Keeping the sa on the table for them, she left, making Sierra take the coffee in her hand. Taking the sip, the taste was that of her favorite.
"Hmm…. this is good…." she mumbled when Charles nodded, "Yeah. this really does taste good."
A faint smile covered her lips when she once again took the sip as so kind of relief washed over her mind. Noting her relaxed body language, made his heart feel the twists but he never showed the sa on his face.
Maintaining the sa seriousness, he disclosed, "And if I were to actually think about everything...is this the main reason for you to co back to the states?"
Subconsciously, Sierra nodded her head with a deep sigh escaping her lips. "I wanted to safeguard myself and my children. Jack needed to do his work there and…if soone wished to reach Jack, enemies would have attacked either or my children and that wasn't what I was looking forward to."
Her honesty and for the very first ti, did he feel her being actually showing her true self.
Since the day she ca back, she has been trying to hide her past from everyone.
Who would have actually thought that the first person to whom she will reveal this to will be no one else but her ex-boyfriend?
Charles nodded his head in understanding when he looked outside the window, "If your husband is handling everything back at abroad, then the danger cos to eat you as well. I don't know how or why, but coming back here seems to be the worst case."
Sierra didn't understand the aning behind his words. Why will it be the worst in his views?
On seeing that she didn't ' find the sa to be relevant, did he coughed slightly, "This is because..at least there, your husband would have given you the shelter but here? You are alone."
"A single woman raising her two kids. I don't know what kind of husband?Jack is, who would actually let go of his wife and children without thinking twice that those n can actually co after you, even here!"
